She is a beautiful soul, truly. When she spoke to the killer, the content of that part specifically, made me tear up. It takes a special kind of person to look someone in the eyes that stole a loved one from you and altered your entire life the way he did, and be compassionate. She truly felt bad and wanted the best for him. Wow....just wow. That one got me
On the contrary, far from taking a lifetime to achieve, many people start life that way, idealistic, innocent. The realities of the world, life lessons about people, and the wisdom the lessons provide, makes many people grow to think differently, and be less forgiving, not more.
29:29 that is how you tell a monster off! I also will never forget you Sam Fuentes, not because you are a victim but because you are a survivor who stood up to that monster and said “he will not forget you”! Stay strong and beautiful, you have a entire Nation standing with you and the rest of the survivors!
My heart sank when she mentioned the swastikas etched into his gun as she sat in a ‘Holocaust Studies’ class. How absolutely horrifying. She was so brave.
Watching those families hug each other, converse, and smile at the end of the sentencing made me tear up. It gave me hope for humankind. It shows that no matter how much we are hurt, love will always prevail over evil.
All the victims families and loved ones spoke so eloquently and powerfully. Scott Beigel's Dad had me captivated. I hung on to every word. His son seemed like an amazing man and the perfect teacher. He was a true hero. R.I.P. to all the victims and I hope the families and loved ones can find some peace. I hope for their hearts to heal so they won't and not to be filled with hate. The murderer took away amazing human beings that had so much to offer. 💔
Samantha, you are a beautiful, brave, strong, intelligent person that this world needs. You told him. He has no more power over you, though the nightmare you lived and continue to live with will always be with you. Your anger was sent his way so well, and I applaud you! I pray that you can now experience a little less suffering each day. You’re bound to have setbacks, but your good heart, spirit and loved ones will help you move forward to have a full lifetime of happiness , health and love. I pray for this and peace for you and your family.❤🙏🏽
Sam Fuentes was incredible. The way she called him exactly what he was and did not hold back all while standing face to face with the animal that tried to take her life. What a brave angel. I wish her nothing but the best!
Scott’s mom’s thank you to the prosecution team, and then the prosecution team hugging the family members during the break really got to me. What a long journey it has been for all of them. Bless them all.

Joaquin's girlfriend gave an AMAZING statement. It really stands out from the rest-- expressing love, empathy, & sorrow for the evil man sitting in front of her. She shows a lot of maturity, being able to acknowledge how he may have been lead to do what he did in the first place. It doesn't take away the fact that what he did was evil and he needs to take accountability. But, she chooses love over bitterness. God bless her. As she is a former classmate and around the same age, that's tough to do. That's powerful. The line "Joaquin would have loved you." THAT is truly balls over bullets. Sis, don't worry about it-- I'm not mad at you for that statement. I respect you for it, so much. ❤
@@Jen12234 I understand the anger and grief that the parents are going through and I don't disagree with the way they are speaking. But, it's so refreshing and telling to see someone around the same age express empathy. These people show so much strength to be able to stand there and speak. They were absolutely right to blast the defence. They should be disbarred for their pathetic attitude and disrespect of the victims during this trial.
Their final words were full of emotion and touched my heart. Their only chance to share anger and grief. The only time the killer flinched was when the judge froze his money and informed him he had bills to settle. Praying for peace and rest for the families.
I've never cried so much in my life. This is a tragedy. I'm sorry to those affected. My heart and thoughts 💔 are with you and for you. May you find comfort in your journey. 💜🙏

This judge is truly astonishing. She reduced me to tears when she addressed the families. She’s gone through it with them and done so with such composure. I know, she too feels the punishment does not fit the crime, but she’s thrown the book and everything she possibly can at him. ❤
I think she was sad she couldn't "do more" for the families like maybe sentence him to death herself. I think she would have. but. I think he has a death sentence already by having to live in a prison system who does not take to child killers....
I am happy that the commissary account will be garnished. That will prohibit him from having extras. It will discourage the cult following of murders that go on in the prison system.
It doesn't matter if it is 10 years from now, I will watch Joaquin's dad's impact statement as if it was the 1st time. Lol. Seriously though...this was a very sad court case. My heart goes out to all of these families , loved ones, teachers, students...all impacted by his actions. I hope I never have to experience this in my life, but I feel for each and everyone of you. Although this is not the outcome we were all hoping for, I pray you found some closure due to the fact he will never see the light of day again. May that provide you with some healing and closing of an awful chapter. Praise to the judge for throwing the book at him.
the silence in that room when he spoke was deafening i hope all these families will take good care of themselves and live long healthy lives of healing ☮️

This is really a tragedy and very sad. Looking at him, I don't think he is absorbing all the hates and statements from the victims' family. He is just blank. Evil is evil, it doesn't feel, it won't feel any guilt or remorse.
I hope people in the Waukesha parade case get to snap out on DB! Prayers to the victims and their families as well as the survivors of the Parkland murderer
Joaquin and Alex’s parents had me sobbing the whole time… God bless these families and those they lost. It is so strange to see another “human” sitting there who is responsible for this horrific tragedy. v
Joaquin's dad, his girlfriend and Max(Alex's dad) made the tears flow. When Max spoke, he came in there with facts, he did his research and paid very close attention during the trial. That pain and anger is authentic as you get. It hits you hard as a parent, just thinking about how you would handle this. I hope I never, ever have to be in their shoes.
I have been in tears listening to the pain these families have gone through. As a parent my heart can't even imagine what that pain is like, and I hope I never have to. They have all spoke so eloquently and have done a beautiful job of telling the world about who their precious children/ loved ones are. 🌹
It's so sad that these families had to suppress all of their emotions during this trial!! I know this had to be so hard for them. My heart hurt for them so many times during the trial and I couldn't imagine the pain and anger they had to be dealing with. They still deal with it on a daily basis!! I'm glad that most of them have started non-profits to help them stay focused and to keep their child's memory alive and to have purpose for others. I pray for continued healing for each family that has been affected by this terrible tragedy!!
Thank LawandCrime Network, you guys are champions. i wish all major high profile trials would be public we can watch, like the Harvey Weinstein and Ghislane Maxwell cases. This trial was super important.

I’ll NEVER forget this case. Not because of the monster that committed the heinous, cruel, brutal and evil acts that occurred that Valentine’s Day 2018… But because of the families of those who were lost, and the survivors, who came together and stuck together and are now bonded for life by blood. They will forever be held together by a tragedy that struck down each and every one of them, however at the same time brought a sea of support into each of their lives by way of the other victims families and survivors. Watching the beautiful families sit in that court room day after day, week after week, visually seeing their loved ones killer. Knowing that the monster who callously killed their loved ones was sitting there, breathing the same air as them.. Yet they remained gracious, composed, and gave the outward appearance of being unaffected by this fact.. I have NO IDEA HOW THEY DID IT, NONE. Mr Guttenberg sat with chest pain and shortness of breath in that court room during the medical examiners testimony, and due to FEAR that asking for help while the jury where present would give the dirty defence team the opportunity to attempt to seek a mistrial.. He sat there silently. It’s wrong so wrong! That Valentines day forever changed the direction and course of their lives, some giving up their life long careers to now fight every single day to make children’s schools safe, safe from the greatest EVIL.. The EVIL that brought them together in the very beginning… 🕊️ Rest In Peace 🕊️ ✝️Alyssa Alhadeff, 14 ✝️Scott Beigel, 35 ✝️Martin Duque, 14 ✝️Nicholas Dworet, 17 ✝️Aaron Feis, 37 ✝️Jaime Guttenberg, 14 ✝️Chris Hixon, 49 ✝️Luke Hoyer, 15 ✝️Cara Loughran, 14 ✝️Gina Montalto, 14 ✝️Joaquin Oliver, 17 ✝️Alaina Petty, 14 ✝️Meadow Pollack, 18 ✝️Helena Ramsay, 17 ✝️Alex Schachter, 14 ✝️Carmen Schentrup, 16 ✝️Peter Wang, 15 To The Survivors ❤️🩹 You’ll always have the world behind you supporting you.. This isn't an indictment on ALL defense attorneys, but this bunch, collectively, were an embarrassment. I think sometimes you'll do something as a group that you wouldn't do as an individual, and this group did that. Everyone is entitled to a vigorous defense, but not every defense is entitled to twist the truth, or outright lie, in order to make their case. A courtroom is for the finding of fact... not for the finding of incorrect narrative. Secondly, one of the members of the Jury lied during jury selection. There's no way he/she didn't lie to get on that jury where you were supposed to have an open mind about the DP to have a spot. There was no open mind there. The decision was predetermined.
I agree with you entirely. The question that I have is whether the public defender who conspicuously and literally gave a long middle finger towards the court will be sanctioned by the Florida Bar. Absolutely contemptible for an attorney to engage in that manor.
Unfortunately, I don't think this can be understood as a sort of group mentality. Following this case since the earliest hearings, these lawyers didn't all join the case at once, but each were poison when they did.
3 jurors voted for life imprisonment. So even IF that one juror lied during jury selection, it would still be a life without parole. But there is no proof at all that she lied. Its all just speculation
i’m happy to see the judge go down to talk to the families.. very compassionate.. that says alot about her.. ❤️❤️❤️ as much as we all wanted the worst penalty for him.. he will be gone and forgotten.. his life may have been spared but he will not live a happy easy life. i pray for peace and comfort for these families.. all their loved ones will always be remembered and cherished.

Those defense attorneys really dug their own grave yesterday with those absurd objections..I'm greatly enjoying watching they get roasted by all of these people who just weren't going to say anything.
Good job Judge on making him pay for the cost, courts, family, etc. Thank you for that for putting up with all this and taking care of the families the best you could.

If there is one positive thing about this event and trial, that would be Victoria González's statement speaking on behalf of her best friend, Joaquin Oliver, now deceased. Victoria is the epitome of kindness, empathy and true love in spite of her loss and pain. Victoria knew all along exactly what was happening to Nikolas. She saw it all clearly.
He reminds me so much of my dad. The way he gestures, his passion. Truly a touching statement from a grieving father
@@kareedeeHe scared the crap out of the murderer too. You could see a slight facial expression a couple times Lol. What an awesome dad and human being he is, you can tell. He truly loves his family so much and you can see the pain in his eyes. All of these families were so wonderful. The composure they had and the way they all embrace each other. The judge giving them hugs after the trial concluded brought me to tears
@@chattsignal I truly hope so. They all seem like wonderful people. I think when Cruz left that courtroom and they realized it is the last they will ever see of him, it was weight off of their shoulders. I feel so bad they didn't get the justice truly deserved to them, but life in prison will not be a good time for him. That target will forever be on his back
He handled himself so well. I truly admire him for staying out of court knowing he may jeopardize
the outcome. THAT is super strength.
I'm really glad Jamie's parents brought up the behavior that was displayed yesterday by the defense.
I didn’t see it, was it during penalty phase day 1?
Same!!! Mr. Weeks needs to lose his elected position
@@catherineeckstein2705 he cried about how the defense to had to endure things others didn’t…in front of the victim’s families!
Same here. I was cheering Fred on! I'm glad that many family members addressed it.

Families!
Love each one of you
Please remain vocal
I support you and your cause from this point forward
Please fight
It will be an honor to back you
I saw beautiful souls during this trial
Love to you all ❤️🙏
These families are so remarkable.
This is so gut wrenching. Sending heavy prayers to all of you.
Joaquín's father, Is my Hero, Big hug from here to Eternity...
Unfortunately Wisconsin law does not permit the DP
I hope when they’re giving their impact statements to Darrell Brooks, he is muzzled.
@@LetItBeSummer-1 they'll probably have to mute him...smh.
I was thinking about that earlier too I can't wait to see that
@@theintuitiveunshrink2378 me either!!! Do you know what day it is scheduled for?
Victoria, you are wise beyond your years, your gentleness is a gift
Piece of work will never see the light of day. My prayers for those families too continue to endure the loss of their loved ones. 🙏🏻
That young woman has an amazing soul. So articulate and so loving despite the circumstances. Praying her soul finds relief ❤
God bless those families and the prosecution team. I love the judge for her no nonsense.
So if “fans” donate money to him for his commissary, that will go to the families and lawyers? 👌🏻
Yes ma'am. He owes a fortune, and he had money from a relative's life insurance, so yeah, he probably won't ever get commissary.
What a great teacher and uncle.
To all the families the sorrow your carry is forever. Your loved ones know how much you have done for them. I wish you some peace as you carry on.
The statements from today and yesterday have been very touching but Guttenberg’s were especially outstanding. Jamie and the 16 others-RIP🧡🙏🏼
She was very well spoken and truly hurt. I hope everyone affected finds peace
He's no joke on Twitter either
Blessings for all the families of the victims.💕🙏🏼
After all this time i still cannot imagine how the parents brothers sisters uncles and aunts are feeling. I just can’t
Prayers for the families. You are incredibly strong and brave
I don't know how they kept it together. They are amazing people
It’s like a public roasting, nice.
Can not stop the tears 😢
I know Windi,me too😢but I'm angry as well because that punk stared straight ahead, like not a care in this world😡
Thank LawandCrime Network, you guys are champions. i wish all major high profile trials would be public we can watch, like the Harvey Weinstein and Ghislane Maxwell cases. This trial was super important.
Oh my gosh Joaquin’s girlfriend is so special.. what a beautiful human being… not how I expected her to react but she is sooo kind… bless her… hope she finds peace.. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I loved here statements. She has a way with words, I hope she flourishes.
@@starrynyts1844 me too! Sweet girl! 🌹
Her statements showed her character not focusing on his… I wish I could send her hugs and love..
2:03:00 - 2:03:21 i dont know why but seeing victoria and joaquin’s dad walking out together holding each other warmed my heart 🥺 i feel like joaquin is smiling down at them and is so happy with the relationship his girlfriend has with his parents. i just found it to be such a beautiful moment 🥲
I will have to find that, that sounds so sweet! Thanks for the time mark
Sam Fuentes' statement, I really liked it. It brought a meaningful message about anger management in the simplest term.
The EVIL that brought them together in the very beginning…

Alyssas parents brought tears to my eyes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
She should be sacked for her unprofessional behaviour
glad they could hug the judge and personally privately thank her.
i’m happy to see the judge go down to talk to the families.. very compassionate.. that says alot about her.. ❤️❤️❤️ as much as we all wanted the worst penalty for him.. he will be gone and forgotten.. his life may have been spared but he will not live a happy easy life. i pray for peace and comfort for these families.. all their loved ones will always be remembered and cherished.
Victoria is the kind of beauty the world needs! What a truly amazing young woman! I can only pray my children turn out half as amazing as this young woman! And to the poor families, I send my deepest condolences 😢
Those defense attorneys really dug their own grave yesterday with those absurd objections..I'm greatly enjoying watching they get roasted by all of these people who just weren't going to say anything.
Condolences to the grieving families.
I hope justice will be served.
What's worse than the death penalty is life without hope
Good job Judge on making him pay for the cost, courts, family, etc. Thank you for that for putting up with all this and taking care of the families the best you could.
Me too I am happy
I admire these families for being strong. I love that they had each other's back. I pray for their complete healing.
God bless ALL the families !!!! We Stand with You !!!!
Father of Scott, my heart breaks for your and the world's loss in your son's murder. Thank you for raising such an amazing person. Praying for your families comfort as you continue trying to keep going 🙏
Victoria such a sweet innocent beautiful soul I wish and hope one day you feel safe again I'm so sorry for the pain you feel every single day I'm so sorry for the loss of the love of your life I'm so so so sorry
My heart broke for these victims and parents😭😭😭😭😭 rest in peace to the victims i know justice will be served❤️
I will never forget any of those kids.
Their families are so so strong. I love how beautifully Victoria spoke today and choose love over bitterness towards such an evil person.
Every parents, family members, friends, I admire their courage. I’m sending love to all of them ❤️
I have nothing but admiration and respect for the victim’s families and loved ones. To get up there and speak whilst enduring such unconscionable pain is in itself a testament to how amazing they all are. I wish them nothing but the very best and hope they all know how greatly loved they are 😥
The defense team makes me sick
This is probably one of the most heartbreaking trials I have ever watched.
The attorney next to Cruz looks like he’s struggling
I believe he was definitely affected by the entire trial, especially the statements by family members.
should be in general population. Why would you keep people like this isolated from the rest of the prison population?
The judge did so well not to break emotionally through these 2 days
Wow that's realy wunderful that the judge is speaking and hugs the victims family 💕
The Oliver family was epic! Joaquin’s family and friend is amazing. His friend that spoke was so powerful also. Complete opposite of all other statements and so beautifully spoken. Love them. I know it took everything for his dad to be there and speak and contain himself. Much respect.
Wonderful Judge! I know it's not much comfort but I pray your loved ones rest in peace and the families are able to move forward from today on 💗 🙏🏼
I love Scott Beigel's Dad 😔
Me too… such a sweet, kind, well spoken, intelligent man. ❤
I’m glad someone family of Joaquin said so sorry he never experienced love it’s truly sad, I know what he did and there is no excuse but to think this kid had so much hate is pure sadness. These families will never have closure just broken hearts and sadness
His mother loved him. Before he died, his father loved him. His brother loves him. Other family member loved him. For some ppl, love doesn’t do anything. He’s a sociopath
I agree. Just so sad all of it is.
His mother loved him
Nonsense, he grew up adopted into a wealthy family
He’s not a kid.
What a fantastic young woman. We really need more people like her and she will one day do great things for humanity. She already is. God bless you abundantly.
My heart truly goes out to all family and friends .. I can’t begin to understand your pain xxx
I LOVE her strength and I FEEL her pain! She will do GREAT THINGS IN HER LIFE!! ❤❤ you are together forever, in spirit!
