Setting up live in-running racecourse data from TPD on Bet Angel

- If you are Betfair trading in-play, we recently upgraded Bet Angel to be compatible with live data coming from racecourses covered by the Total performance data (TPD) service.
This allows you to import live speed, positions and other key data straight from the valid racecourses. It's truly revolutionary.
This video is a walkthrough video on how you would set this up on Bet Angel.
Here is a link to the TPD section on our forum from which you can import all the settings and features you see: -

The specific feature we have set up here is this one: -

Wow. Good Luck to anybody trying to set this up.
Rather than stimulating in-running liquidity on both UK and foreign racing I'm afraid this technology will end up killing it off as a pursuit. The prohibitive cost will alienate the minnows from playing on such an un-level playing field and the sharks will fight each other for the small amount of plankton that remains.
TPD is levelling the playing field against drones and fast pictures at a fraction of the price.
It's curious how people can't seem to see that.
@@betangeltv You obviously have not played in-running on horse racing as a skill where form study and race-reading is the art. You are all about dots on screens, numbers, bots etc etc, and a speed race to take any available money before anyone else has seen it. I've played in-running for many years and first drones and now you and your rapid data has gradually killed it off. This is a fact.
I learned to race read many years ago and have bet on hundreds of thousands of races in my career. Race reading it's not an art, you could teach pretty much anybody to understand how a race is likely to be run and how it is actually being run.
This data enhances that ability by putting a number on it.
When TPD launched they wanted £35 per meeting. This data is now available for pennies per race and anybody serious about this stuff would surely jump at the chance to use it.
Everything evolves over time, once there wasn't even the chance to bet in-play. You either move with the times or get left behind.
@@betangeltv Peter, I have no doubt some of the data TPD provides can be used to assist in-play betting but possibly more suited when integrated with other software. It can't be coincidence that liquidity has dropped off at the ATR and US tracks where TPD is now present and there are now huge gaps in the lay boxes. Other data aside track position in the later stages of a race is of huge significance when the vast majority are watching much delayed video feeds. Those people won't hang around when they can see the disadvantage at play. I can't see how this data can help increase liquidity but only reduce it further over time sadly. How do you see it helping the current liquidity status?
I tend to measure in-play liquidity as a percentage of pre-off to assess whether it's better or worse.
I haven't done that much this year but will do so.
But when I last looked this metric was slightly higher on ATR courses where TPD was available.
But overall, on Betfair, liquidity is declining. So I think that is what you are seeing.
Hi Peter, I entered my key to the total performance data settings area and it won’t connect to TPD. It states connection status is “not connected”.
It needs to connect to a race, so you can do that manually or automatically using the options on that settings area.
If you have any doubts, please drop a note to support.
Problems of in play racing
Jumps racing
Horses fall
Bought down
Refuse to jump
Unseat
Slip on landing
Over jump
Over race
Bad positioning
Flat racing
Slow away
Boxed in cant get out
Over race
Bad positioning
Jockey decision on ability of horse
And more
Then you have the problem of how does the Jockey feel today.
Illness
Problems at home
Does the Jockey make more money if he don't win
As the trainer done his job
Then the Unthinkable
Bent jockey
Bent trainer or both
Laying horses inplay is the only way, if inplay is what you like.
Good Luck you will need some.
After 20 years of doing this luck isn't something that is part of my trading.
Brilliant - Thanks Peter, you're an ACE. Very keen on this development. Next Question: I posted it on the forum on 13th DEC 2021.. REALLY looking forward to see that particular feature.... Stay Safe - we all need you.
We have some more enhancements on the way. So keep an eye out for those.
Love betangel but have seen so many negative reviews regarding this additional software TPD. I have been told that there is at times time delays/lag & there is even youtube videos claiming that TPD have displayed horses as coming first when it has in fact come second which sounds very worrying. Thumbs down from many by the looks of it
It's the most significant leap in in-play trading in years. Finally, you get quality data in real time and access to all sorts of interesting stuff.
Is it perfect to the centimetre? No, but it gives you access to something at the cutting edge.
It cost us a lot of development effort to make it happen, and we don't make a penny from our relationship with TPD. We did it because we thought it was a transformative technology.
I guess there may be two reasons for negative comments. One is that people are not using it correctly, or it's people who don't have access to it, who are trying to talk it down?
I just think it's a great opportunity to actually get right under the skin of racing. Which is why I use it.
It's difficult to fathom why people wouldn't use it, even if only to supplement what they already do.
Thanks - Happy New Year! Look forward to seeing the new features. - Bet Angel is such a brilliant product.....
Many thanks
Looks fascinating. I haven't collected any in-running data to enable me to devise a strategy, but perhaps I ought to.
There is a lot of interesting things to play with here that we haven't covered just yet. We also have some more enhancements planned also.
Hey Peter this is awesome... is the import other data option available to custom data sets (say I had a external system ranking for example)
You can push and pull data in and out of Bet Angel to Excel and CSV files, so yes. I should probably produce a video on it.
@@betangeltv is there any documentation on the import of data into Bet Angel ,
I only just found this comment, so sorry about that. But have a read of this article: -
