When i was young, I thought following Jesus was following the light. But once I discovered that path led to idolatry and false worship, I now see clearly that ISRAEL is the light to all the nations. Israel has the very word of life itself, the Holy Torah. Israel is the 'anointed' servant of HaShem, and embodies the 'spirit' of Messiah. Anyone who claims to follow messiah, should be grabbing ahold of the garment of a Jew and saying "take me with you, for HaShem is with you" (Zechariah 8:23)

Nathan, Hashem is in the truth of the words when you speak them. So make sure that you don't clutter that with a mentor who rubs off on you, because then HE becomes slightly hidden and it becomes frustrating to spend time with HIM. May Hashem bless you for being there for HIM regardless.
