      Hi! I do have a slight thyroid issue but that’s something that I’ve had for years. My situation is under control and well taken care of especially during pregnancy 😊 I noticed my neck in this video as well during editing. My studio lighting definitely make it look way worse than in real life trust me 😂 but thank you for your concern I’m healthy don’t worry 🥰

      Anubis Atef hey, good catch.
      Amber, please get your thyroid checked. Not just TSH. Also T3 & T4.
      My thyroid crapped out on me at 19. Didn’t take my medicine consistently. Started getting a goiter at 22. Made sure to take my medicine consistently ever since. Still feel like crap, but the goiter left and never returned.

I envy people who can go more than 12 hours without their hair looking oily and gross. Although I definitely don’t envy the work you ladies have to put into natural hair. I’ve gone 5 weeks before. I can’t give you any actual excuse, it’s just that having natural Afro hair is overwhelming for me and if I don’t detangle for a week then I dread the next weekend where I have to detangle as it’s probably so knotty lol! Therefore I avoid it again, and again, and make it worse 😂 Then the detangling takes ‘hours’ (and I ask why I do this to myself, until I get into my 1.5 hours hair day shower) 😩 I’ve only gone 5 weeks once. I get overwhelmed with general life, let alone with my hair 🤣 I’m not washing my hair this weekend, but I will be detangling and twisting. My treat for being consistent for 4ish weeks 🤣

    I'm going through something similar, but my hair is a lot more matted than yours. It's this depression/quarantine/lazy hair. The worst its ever been. I have straight hair on top, then wavy. The matting is so bad they are like ball sized bird nests. I'm using 3 types of brushes and a comb and it's taking me days to detangle taking a break because my scalp starts to hurt. I have long hair to my waist. Never again will I let it get this bad 😅😅😂

    • @rhythmicelegance4670
      @rhythmicelegance4670 4 роки тому +3

      Olive oil might help speed up the process. I had at least three particularly bad matts in my fine diameter/thick volume straight-wavy hair yesterday after not detangling it or washing for a month, thinking my braid or banded straight ponytail (elastics along the length of the ponytail like a rope) would be fine with some coconut and argan oil in it, but no. Catastrophe. At first I thought I might have to cut it because the mess seemed impossible to undo even after washing & masque-conditioning it the first time (including an apple cider vinegar cold rinse to clear buildup). After the second shower in which I only used masque, I damp-massaged in some hair masque and olive oil into the worst areas (the latter which I don't normally use because it's too heavy for my hair), then heated everything while wearing a couple of plastic bags as a cap for a few minutes with a hair dryer to help it penetrate. It took me nearly 4 hours straight while watching movies on my laptop to remove the matts very delicately with my fingers and the end tooth of a seamless comb. My hair is past tailbone length and my goal is knee length so I was incredibly upset, but most of the hair that came out was natural shedding that had accumulated and partly caused the tangles and matts, and the loss didn't seem excessive. The length seems to have been miraculously retained...at least most of it. I'm definitely making sure to comb daily from now on! I hope you find what works for your tresses and good luck!

      omg im so sorry you’re struggling so much. i know how it it is and your hair sounds really similar to mine so if you didn’t try this already here’s what helped me with my hair:
      -section hair, at least 2 sections depending on hair amount -soak one section with gentle stream of lukewarm water -take inexpensive conditioner (a lot LOT, get multiple bottles + use only cgm approved, curlsbot.com to check), -gently apply lemon sized amount (yes lol) to soaked section, only downwards hand strokes on hair -hair soaks up product, apply more until it feels like seaweed (slippery), use lots of conditioner -apply more conditioner on big knots etc gently squeezing it in. keep hair very wet whole time - take wide (!!) tooth comb (imo bamboo with handle is helpful). never normal brushes. VERY carefully start on tips of hair (!!) and detangle knot by knot. go up very slowly. be patient it works well, damage+pain free. keep section soaked.okay to use wet detangling brush after big+matted knots are gone. never pull always be very gentle+patient!! -finally when wide tooth comb goes through section smoothly, braid it away and start next. this works on every hair (: if you have curls check out the curly girl method it seriously helps and makes taking care of hair that always gets tangled much less work and stressful. it’s also inexpensive. hope this helps even tho you probably brushed it by now (:

    • @CocoRican
      @CocoRican 4 роки тому +1

      @@rhythmicelegance4670 thank you. I ended up having to cut a lot of my hair, especially on the right side because that was the worst. It's obvious if I let my hair loose, so I'm going to have to wear a ponytail or braid until I grows some more. I bought this brush called the Knot Dr by Conair. It makes my brushing sooooo much faster and less painful. And the best thing is that I lose barely any hair while brushing. I'm using this cream, shampoo, and conditioner by OGX, and my hair barely gets tangled. It's crazy because my hair would get tangled for no reason even after brushing it. But like I said, not doing that again lol. These products are long my hair maintenance sooo much easier.

    • @CocoRican
      @CocoRican 4 роки тому

      @@lilmoon5273 thank you. 😊. Yeah I had to use a lot of conditioner and constantly wet my hair. I unfortunately ended up choosing a lot of my hair because the matting was so bad. My hair was mostly affected on my right side, so it looks really uneven. I'll have to tie my hair back until it grows out and looks more even before I refuse to cut it short lol. But what's help me maintain my hair is this brush called the Knot Dr by Conair. It is gentle on my hair, barely sheds, and makes detangling a whole lot faster and less painful. Some products by OGX are also helping my hair stay tangle free for a lot longer. My hair would get easily tangled for no reason. So hopefully I won't have to end up having this mess again.

    Daaaannnnngggggg I’ve gone almost three weeks with a struggle bun because I just didn’t have the energy to wash my hair. But a month...you know, I’m actually impressed! 😂 That was a really reasonable amount of shedding for an entire month. I got impatient and pulled too hard and probably pulled some hair out. Enjoy your freshly-washed hair!

  • @Concertina43210
    @Concertina43210 4 роки тому +2

    I have very fine, long and thin 2C hair that tangles easily. Especially because I wear it in a bun all day and sleep in it too. A few years ago I was going through a rough patch and fell into a bad depression. I didn't wash my hair as often and stopped brushing it entirely. My hair got so matted that it basically turned into one giant dreadlock that was impossible to detangle no matter what I did. So it all had to be cut off. It was pretty devastating but it grew back eventually.
    PS: You have absolutely gorgeous hair and congrats on the birth of your new baby :)

    I loved hearing you speak your native language. Beautiful. Everything about you girl!!! Love you!! Also, pre-poo saved me! LOL I messed around one day and didn’t use it thinking it really didn’t do “all that” BIG MISTAKE!!! destroyed my hair that wash. Wont ever wash without pre-pooing again!! I think I assaulted my hair that day. It was a real crime.

    Ok wow up until now I literally did not know this was even possible, my hair is naturally pin straight (so I pretty much can't rlly go longer than 3-4 days without washing it, it doesn't really tangle either) and honestly I'm so happy I stumbled upon your channel. I feel like I've learned so much watching your videos and I thank you for educating my dumb ass haha

    Aww Amber, who am I to judge u? I wear my 4c hair in twists always. My hair routine is to unbraid, detangle, wash, deep condition and have my salonist put it in twists which I wear for 4 weeks. (Some few times 6 weeks 🙈) And even this routine is overwhelming to me now that I'm pregnant. Wish I could go bald and be free.

    After 2 weeks of having my hair in twists it's so matted to tears,I can't imagine leaving it untouched for one month.

  • @liyaxo4560
    @liyaxo4560 2 роки тому

    Omg I waited for several months and just detangled it all yesterday. I sprayed a bunch of heat protection spray and started slowly sectioning off pieces and using heat to soften the matted sections. 😭😓 8 hours and several mental breaks later i can finally feel my scalp and run my fingers through my hair. Now i plan to deep condition and wash it before braiding it down to avoid the matting in the future.

    Why don't you ever use the detangling brush you reviewed thzt was sooo good? Better than the tangle teaser??

    • @VenusianVirgo
      @VenusianVirgo 4 роки тому +6

      I have both brushes. I use the other one when I have really tough sections because the bristles are alot stronger but the bristles are also alot shorter than the tangle teaser so I still use the tangle teaser to get all the way through my sections. I have 4c hair, Amber's curls are alot looser so the tangle teasers longer more flexible bristles probably work better for her. It's something you notice with alot of use. They both work really good though.

    I once left these box braids in my hair for a month without washing. After I took them out my hair & my 4c hair turned into a humongous dreadlock while washing 😱. I had just as much hair in my hands but it was breakage!!😢😢 My hair is finally starting to fill in after a few months but lesson learned. I have to take braids out after 1 week & I have to wash my hair at least once a week or it will turn on me lol . P.S. your channel is the best!!! keep up great work sis 👑
