  • In today’s video, we get a full tour of THE Obsessed Garage HQ! Some may consider this the culmination of an “Obsessed” garage and we’re here to see what Matt has cultivated! Sit back and enjoy the ride.
In a continuation of our Florida “shop tours,” we stop by OG HQ for a not-so-relatable tour. Matt has two garages that he utilizes on a daily basis. The OG HQ garage is often his work space, his testing area, and a place that other employees can utilize. His home garage is his main domain (and we’ll tour that soon!) We ask Matt to walk us through all the features of the HQ and the reasoning behind his choices!
As always, we love making these videos to give some inspiration to other shops/garages and this video has PLENTY of it! What was your favorite feature of this tour? As always, a big thank you to Matt for having us out. If you’re in need of garage design or any of the goodies you see here, check out / @obsessedgarage

I'm sure there's going to be some negative comments on here, but I'm glad that guys like Matt exist in this world. I'll never have a garage like Matt's unless I win the lottery (which will be impossible because I don't waste my money on that), but it certainly is nice to have one place I can go where I know I can find some of the best things available.
I love to nerd out and search through catalogs to find awesome stuff, but I don't have the budget (or business case) to buy everything all at once like Matt does. Obsessed Garage allows me to aspire to something and gives me an easy way to purchase it, if and when I am able to budget the money to make that purchase.
I was raised on a farm in a very modest way, where we made-do with what we had, and we had to do a lot of makeshift things in order to get the job done and survive. I've been on a long road of a low to middle income lifestyle and have reached a point in my life where I have the basics that I really need, but there are places where I would like to improve to make my garage-life easier and more enjoyable.
There are things that I have had to buy multiple times, either because they broke, were of cheap quality, or because I just didn't know that there was something else better out there. Now that I am at a place in life with more discretionary income and the ability to budget for things that I want/need, I'm glad to have a resource like OG so I don't have to waste time and money on buying the wrong thing.
People like to rag on Matt for having a $300 bucket package. If you don't value that and can come up with your own solution for cheaper, have at it. I personally don't, so I bought buckets locally, grit guards and gamma seal lids from TRC, and dollies/casters from OG. But if you want the same 6 gallon buckets, caster wheels that roll smoothly over Swisstrax, and three buckets complete with dollies, grit guards, lids and labels...you can't piece the same package together for less money. For example, for the same 6 gallon bucket you'd need to buy a minimum of 10 buckets online and pay to ship them, unless you have a local source.
I'm also never going to have a huge cabinet array. For one thing I don't have the space, and for another I just don't value that. Instead I'm going to buy a Harbor Freight ICON box and fill it with a mix of the tools cheap chinese tools I already have and the tools that I'm slowly upgrading to (Wera, Knipex, Hazet, Koken, etc)...but I am going to organize it with Tool Grid.

Jeff I appreciate your presence online and agree with your approach on everything. Having personally met both Matt and Anthony I appreciate all spectrums on the task at hand. As for Matt it is something to aspire to be/have for your personal appreciation that makes sense to me. If it wasn't for his influence I probably would have bought a bunch of junk before I found excellence. Although I may be much older than Anthony I feel like we would be great brothers or friends but we are split by 6 hours difference. Before I was offered a supervisory position last year I was contemplating on applying at TRC and moving to Boise. As a side note, one of my first purchases was his bucket package but last year I settled on a premium Rag Company package when they updated their labels. I feel like my bucket systems are ever evolving because I acquired a second garage at my apartment over the winter.

Nuts in the best way man, when you have this much passion for having the best of the best this is what happens. You research and research and find everything you want. Nothing wrong with having the absolute best

@@jeremiahbrinsko7811 not sure about that. What’s the point of supposedly wanting “all the best” stuff without the same passion for using this stuff? For example the two red m3’s he’s doing right now. Spend all this money for “the best” tools and products only to settle for mediocre results?

They have a business relationship, and if you've followed TRC long enough you should know that TRC develops personal friendships with the people who represent/own the companies they do business with.

This video is ripping me apart.
On one hand it's motivating to improve my income.
I make well over 100k and a very small portion of that is attainable.
On the other hand, i'm so far removed from this setup every aspect feels unattainable.

I take it one piece at a time to meet basic needs and then address specific pain points along the way to make my limited time in the garage more efficient and enjoyable.
