Anything other than jail time for Vennells and those involved in persecuting the postmasters would be another miscarriage of justice.
The police may well charge a few of these with criminal activity.
Justice. 1. every last quid of Vennels PO payout is taken from her. 2. her PO pension ceases. 3. she is forced to sell her home under proceeds of crime .4 All this money is put in the Sub Post Masters pockets. 5 she does jail time for perjury, theft, corruption 6. on release she lives in poverty. 7. if she believes in Jesus this should be fine for her.
Rudkin was treated appallingly. All involved should face criminal charges. Not just Vennells
What really winds me up and makes me so angry is that sub postmasters are having to wait to get their own money back, let alone their compensation. It’s disgusting. The process of the enquiry and due process of any prosecutions is going to take years, which in a way is good, let them suffer years of waiting to go through the process like the innocent people. But pay the sub postmasters their money first.
vennells should be charged & PUT ON REMAND UNTIL TRIAL!
She is despicable, but some investigators need to be seriously examined.

She's a total career woman, obviously promoted above he actual abilities but was seen as a safe, manipulative individual. She was looking to get a prime position in the Church (you can't make this shyte up ) and was earmarked for the Bishop of London, the 3rd highest role in the country. Did she think or worry about the sub postmasters...no. Her testimony if not leading to criminal convictions is of a person backtracking and looking to lay the blame elsewhere..... Sadly her likes are embedded in our upper management... terrible!!!!
Who paid for the lawyers used by those being questioned at the inquiry.
It infuriates me greatly, to hear Paula Vennells think she can apologise for the epic wrongdoing that was perpetrated on these people and not take 100% responsibility . At this stage, she needs to tell the truth, that is the only honourable thing to do. I have no doubt that she knew exactly what was going on throughout the whole Horizon debacle and she is now trying to squirm her way out of it and blame others. The buck stops with Vennells.

If the cops and politicians who allowed kids to be groomed 30+ years ago were held responsible, it wouldn't be happening now.

The same sort of egotistical attitude and behaviour by CEOs, directors and senior management exists in every large organisation or company in this country. They believe they are untouchable, above the law and free to act as they please towards their employees. An example needs to be made.

As a 50 year IT professional, why oh why would a system like Horizon be deployed WITHOUT PROVIDING A DAILY RECONCILIATION to each of the sub-postmasters??? Surely balancing back to daily cash as well as electronic transactions should have been part of the system????? All this system enabled was for sub-postmasters to be ‘SET UP FOR FAILURE’. I am absolutely astounded given the number of ERP/finance systems with which I have been involved that this system apparently had no reconciliation reports for the sub-postmasters. She trashed her credability by attempting to bury problems with Horizon, knowingly prosecuting innocent people. By not investigating Horizon mistakes so as to protect PO integrity she actually ended up destroying PO integrity and her own.

I wish you would do an analysis of what I perceived as Vennells' careful denial of any either knowledge of, participation in, or remembered, interactions involving IT or legal matters. If I understand correctly, it is IT and legal, that could be criminal offenses. She was happy to cry about and apologize for everything else.

I don't understand Post Office Exec's I mean, you could probably do this to a handful of people and get away with it and your name intact. Problem for PO exec's is that they did this to literally hundreds of Sub Postmasters and Mistress's. It would take breathtaking hubris not to think that Sub Postmasters wouldn't stand up to the bullying tactics employed by PO. Apart from the laws that must have been broken they must have shattered PO's own policies. Whislt some politicians should be lauded for their efforts like Lord Arbuthnot, others should feel shame for allowing this travesty to continue for as long as it has. My mind boggles.
Actually, it wasn't Vennells but Alice Perkins who kept Crichton out of a critical meeting.
Alice, of course is Labour Party Royalty, as she is married to Jack Straw. Thus, any criticism will be restrained at most, I suspect.
She is symbolic of the country, politics and the media are both full of people thinking about thier careers and the money. GB News has more than it's fair share of presenters prepared to take the rewards over honesty.
Be good to have a simple process for repayment and compensation.
Eg
Repayment = repay all monies alleged to have been taken plus 50% to cover for time + reimburse all legal fees paid.
Compensation: 500 per day from date of being sacked to end of enquiry + 3000 per day for every day in jail.

My old headmaster had similar, sneaky, little piggy eyes. He, too, was obnoxious, nasty, evil and vicious. I still carry the scars, as will many of the mistreated PO people.
There are many people like this, they have a desire to be seen infallible. I worked a with/for a man who was 'always right', and, as in many similar situations, there are people who take their word, without question. There is so much misery with workers, who have to deal with this management type. They're only reason for their existence, is to make other people's lives miserable, they thrive on it.
I have a terrible feeling nothing will be done about this horrible woman she needs to be punished her bonus paid back and jail nothing less

I still can’t get my head around that even with just basic knowledge of statistics and probability you would have realised there simply couldn’t be that many corrupt postmasters.
Let us not forget The National Federation of Sub Postmasters was completely in Paula's pocket and was effectively a department of The Post Office. It completely abandoned every Postmaster who said it was Horizon was at fault. The came out and said they must be guilty and they kicked them all out of The Federation. They share the blame with Paula

Sorry is just not good enough. Thousands of people's lives have been ruined, destroyed, never the same again. People died and they and their families were made to suffer for decades. Time and time again people could have stopped what was going on and refused to do so. Cover up, lying, obfuscation, mendacious actions towards decent law abiding people. The whole situation stinks and the whole of senior management of the PO is culpable, along with senior management of Fujitsu.

Then prepare to be disappointed. Everything Vennells said had the air of something carefully scripted by her legal team. The intention was to make her appear incompetent and over-promoted, but to avoid saying anything which might make her the subject of subsequent criminal charges.
I would love to know how many people were afraid of her under oath
Given the evidence that PV instructed that the contingent liability information regarding Horizon be removed from the PO floatation prospectus there is is clear evidence that a complaint should be raised to the the FCA (FSA replacement). She needs to account to the FCA why she thought the withholding of the on going Horizon issue as evidenced by the current enquiry was not pertinent to potential investors in the PO floatation. I know what I think would happen if a formal complaint is made.

There would have been historical data kept on fraud in post offices and charges bought. If that data sudenly increased then question needed to be aked why and how. Human nature i would say dosnt suddenly change if you have x amount of shops the amount of fraud i would think would stay constant. Why did no pick up on it. It is far far to easy for these allegedly accused CEOs or executives, to speak publicly, and apologise for all their wrong doings, which to me is a very poor plea from them to get any sympathy from the public, and it always costs the taxpayer extortionate sums of money for these inquiries and possible compensations with no one ever found accountable or prosecuted.
My mum was a post office trainer before all this horizon scandal was going on.
She raised many issues to just always be told no, it works fine, just accept it, people rarely balanced their tills.
She had raised issue that got offices closed, but she always thought she was doing the right thing as the investigation gets escelated away from her knowledge.
My take on it is, The post office purchased a system that was not fit for purpose,for 95 mil, and if it came out bankruptcy would have followed, People in power telling you what they think you want to hear motivated by high pay packets to suit the board as they wanted to float it on the stock market
