I haven't cleaned a rifle barrel in 5 years unless it had debris or moisture in it. Only exception is new barrels I run a few patches through. Don't miss cleaning barrels that's for sure.

On a recent interview with the bartlein manufacturer, guest was asked about barrel break in, said it wasn’t needed, and they only have a process for such because the customer expects there to be one. Bartlein might know, so they’d be the one I’d ask. For anyone ready to die on a hill for their opinion, by all means

What about the carbon ring? Have you found this to hamper ANYTHING?

Carbon rings are a real phenomena and they need to be busted up, because they *CAN* cause over pressure in overbored cartridges.

How many rounds did it take to shoot out the 6.5-300 when not cleaning?

What are your sources for your opinion?

The original idea of the shoot clean shoot clean ideology was to improve cleaning not accuracy. The accuracy misconception happened about 15-20 years ago. Top gunsmiths only have a process because everyone asks for it, otherwise they just say shoot it like you stole it…

Well, is carbon fouling speeding up a barrel all myth then? Legit question, because I have never put it to the test, but I've read time and time again from industry pro's that this is a real life issue.
