Dracula (Gary Oldman from Harry Potter and The Dark Knight), appearing young and handsome during daylight, restrains himself from sucking the blood of Mina (Winona Ryder from Beetlejuice and Little Women). He then saves her from an escaped wolf in the cinematheque and charms Mina.

What’s the movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula about?
Count Dracula (Gary Oldman from Harry Potter and The Dark Knight), a 15th century prince, became a vampire after his wife committed suicide. Young lawyer Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves from The Matrix and Speed) is sent to Dracula's castle to finalize a land deal. But when the Count sees a photo of Harker's fiancée, Mina (Winona Ryder from Beetlejuice and Little Women), the spitting image of his dead wife, he imprisons her and travels to London to find her.

gary oldman is an excellent, versatile actor.
Yeah he is, and I can't recognize him in any movie. It's like magic or something. He's the physical version of a voice actor.
He isn’t always mentioned among the top actors, but he is certainly one of the very best.

his own curse started to take over and he nearly killed his one true love... imagine how hard that was to control... his sense of love isn't like that of a man anymore so its tied in to his lust for blood like a serial killer getting an arousal during a murder... i was moved by this scene
I still don understand why dracula been consider as pure evil villain, while here he was more of anti villain (tragic/fallen hero) and also look like phnatom of the opera

This Dracula is a blend of Bram Stoker's literary vampire lord and the historical Prince Vlad of Wallachia.
@@user-dv6nh3mu3y the novel showed him as a pure villain with no such romantic angle. This was done in the movie.
What makes Gary Oldman's Dracula performance great is that he had so many facets to his character. He could be a brutal and cruel old vampire lord, but also a charming young man in love. You can tell that he misses mortality and regrets becoming a night creature.
Still a better love story than ... well ... most of them :))

Bela Lugosi was the best dramatic Dracula. Christopher Lee was the beastly best Dracula. But Oldman was the all-round Dracula: Charismatic, Sexy, Evil and above all DEMONIC.

Frank Langella played the same Dracula as Bela Lugosi (both films are adaptations of the same stage adaptation of the novel) better than Bela Lugosi if you take the nostalgia goggles off.

This novel will never die such a masterpiece
This film is spellbinding. The most devastating and gothic film I’ve ever sat through. Firmly in my upper echelon. Quite the feat considering another of Coppola’s visions, “Apocalypse: Now”..shares its company.
It is a Gothic camp fest.
Not to be taken seriously for a moment but hugely entertaining.
Coincidentally, he also starred in immortal beloved which was cool along gothic lines.
Gary Oldman is an amazing actor.

strigoi - romanian for troubled spirits who can basically shape-shift, and other qualities - dracula would have had command over these types of creatures - apparently they are also the origin of vampires in this culture - second word is moloi, or moroi - moloi meaning ghost-type creature, and moroi roughly meaning cousin to werewolves
According to Urban Dictionary, Strigoi and Moroi are the same thing, just from different areas. . I never thought about what he was saying until I saw Vampire Academy, some years later. This movie is one of the best storylines, cast, and probably several other categories.

I wonder what Mina did after all of this? Stoker couldn't imagine her as anything other than a future wife and mother, but Movie Mina is very different now.

He said he crossed oceans, but surely he only needed to cross the English Channel which is 22 miles at its narrowest.
I believe he said, “oceans of time to find her”. Much more difficult to accomplish.

There's buried treasure around the castle which is illuminated by blue flame in the books and the beginning of the film. He could dig it up throughout the ages.

Remember she thrown herself out the window out of the castle in the beginning of the movie because she received a letter saying he was killed in battle but it wasn’t true. I’m assuming that was a portrayal of her body in the coffin ⚰️ before he crossed oceans 🌊 of time to find her once again my friend.

I never understood this scene...why in the WORLD would he wish to bite her...if he professes such love for her...you'd think that this would be the last human that Dracula would ever wish to harm. I guess it was to show, the insatiably hard drive/compulsion/need to feed...I dunno...
my humble opinion, I believe that he may have wanted to turn her so bad, not kill her , but he realizes that it was not the way to recover ler lost love and he needed to work as the gentleman he was and needed to have her as free as she was before, willingly loving him and not enslaved with a curse.

I had always thought, that God always had a door slightly ajar..and if Prince Vlad, had gone before the stabbed Cross, in the castle's Chapel...and showed true contriteness, and asked God for forgiveness, that He would at that moment, extended it to Prince Vlad, and his un-dead state would be lifted. We do know that Prince Vlad held such a vitriolic 'hate' for Heaven, for feeling that he was betrayed, but in reality...he was angry with his priests, in denying his love, a Christian burial, and looking upon her with open contempt. It's a tragic story, all round...but again...if he had only asked for forgiveness for his behaviour in the Chapel....but, the plot did not allow for that...and so the viewer will never know.... He surely would have thought that his wife, was waiting for him, in Heaven...and I would have been on my hands and knees centuries ago...hoping to reunite with her, on the 'other side'....
