Hi I'm from England. I really enjoy your videos. Ive learnt a lot about Nagasaki because of you. Thank you. You asked about gardens and I just had to answer. I have a garden and I grow food in part of it. I live in a city ,population 227000 but on the outskirts so our area is classed as the suburbs. My garden is large. I grow quite a lot of food. To name a few I grew last year ,Tomatoes, cucumbers, sweetcorn, salad, radish, all different kinds of beans, carrots ,Parsnips, savoy cabbage, sprouts, potatoes, celery etc I also grow fruits, apples, pears, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, black currents etc. I try to add at least 1 new vegetable a year. I also hope to add more trees in the future. maybe a plum tree and cherry tree. Gardening is hard work but very rewarding. I will look forward to seeing what you grow next. ❤
Daikon, white radish, that's what it's called in Germany. I eat it as a salad without cooking it,as a side dish to meat. It's grated finely, added salt, pepper, oil and vinegar, mixed a little bit and it's ready to eat. Grüße aus Deutschland
Sho, the mini orange, here I know it as kinkan, there was a tree in my grandparents' house. I live in an urban area (the neighboring city has 700,000 inhabitants) and I have a backyard where I grow a vegetable garden only in winter, when the climate is more favorable. I want to thank you for always posting souvenirs and sweets from Nagasaki, the packaging is so cute especially the one on the river with the oculus bridge.
The other day, I bought dashi stock, tofu, cabbage, tofu skin, and enoki mushrooms, and I made my own miso soup! I also had natto and rice on hand as well. I was inspired by this channel 😄
Hola Sho.
The Tempura you got looks, so delicious 😋 Also I love doing gardening 🪴 as well. I do yard work once a week on Sundays. It’s good for your health, and to get out in the sun; and I’m also hoping to create a fairy garden for my own place.
Always enjoy walking with you and have noticed that there are a lot of water ways in Nagasaki. Do you have a mosquitoes problem in the summertime or does the city management have control of any pests?
Thank you for your question! It's not a huge problem, but there are so many mosquitoes in Nagasaki in the summer! 😂 I don’t use many chemicals, but I use mosquito coils and screen doors to keep them away. I don't think the city office does much about mosquitoes.
I want you to go to Inari-san (Tamazonoinari Shrine ⛩️ 玉園稲荷神社) is located behind Suwa Shrine. There are large camphor trees, I also embraced it last year. Have you been there yet?
Hello! I would like to ask about soy products. They occupy a very large part of Japanese cuisine, but soy is prohibited for thyroid diseases. How do the Japanese solve this problem? Thank you❤
Hello! Thank you for your question. I'm not entirely sure, but I think that as long as healthy individuals consume it in moderation, there shouldn't be any issues. For those with thyroid conditions, consulting a doctor and being mindful of their diet should be okay, I suppose? 😌
I'm not sure if this is entirely correct, but this is the response I got from AI. I think the general idea isn't too far off! *** Hello! 😊 Soy products play a very important role in Japanese food culture. They are used in many dishes, including miso, soy sauce, tofu, natto, and edamame. On the other hand, soy contains goitrogens (substances that can promote thyroid enlargement), which may affect thyroid function. People with thyroid disorders are often advised to be cautious. In particular, for those with hypothyroidism (such as Hashimoto's disease), soy may interfere with iodine absorption, so they might need to watch their intake. How Japan Addresses This Issue In Japan, people with thyroid conditions are rarely completely prohibited from consuming soy products. In many cases, moderate consumption is considered acceptable. The following measures are commonly taken: 1. Ensuring Proper Iodine Intake Japanese diets include a lot of seaweed (kombu, wakame, hijiki), which naturally provides iodine. This is believed to help counteract the effects of soy on iodine absorption. 2. Consuming Fermented Soy Products Fermented soy products like natto, miso, and soy sauce are thought to have a reduced goitrogenic effect due to the fermentation process. As a result, even those with thyroid concerns may be able to consume these products more safely. 3. Avoiding Excessive Consumption Instead of consuming large amounts of soy products at every meal, it's important to maintain a balanced diet. For example, having natto for breakfast, tofu for lunch, and miso soup for dinner-rather than eating a large quantity all at once-can help manage intake. 4. Seeking Medical Advice People with thyroid disorders are encouraged to consult their doctors to adjust their diet accordingly. Regular blood tests to monitor thyroid hormone levels and making dietary adjustments as needed are recommended. Conclusion In Japan, many people balance soy consumption and thyroid health by ensuring sufficient iodine intake, consuming fermented soy products, and moderating their overall intake. Rather than completely avoiding soy, the common approach is controlled and moderate consumption. If you'd like to know more details, feel free to ask!

I passed by 長崎公園の噴水. There is a small udon noodle restaurant called When I went there I haven't eaten at all cause it's Closed 😢
Yes I've visited there and it's one of my favorite spots in Nagasaki! :)
I live in the suburbs of an American city, whose population is 6.3 million...we do not have a garden...
