Because I need a list and I'm pretty sure other people enjoy lists too: -I let you Go 1:53 -The Wife Between Us 2:10 -My Lovely Wife 2:38 -Gone Girl 3:00 -Behind Her Eyes 3:35 -If We Were Villains 4:10 -Bunny 4:29 -First We Were IV 4:51 -All These Beautiful Strangers 5:16 -People Like Us 5:40 -Four Letter Word 6:13 -The Turn of the Key 6:43 -The Missing Years 7:07 -Lock Every Door 7:34 -No Exit 8:25 -The Cabin at the End of the World 8:45 -The Woman in the Window 10:07 -Watching You 10:33 -Someone We Know 10:57 -He Will Be My Ruin 11:46 -The Missing Season 12:08 -The River at Night 12:31 -Emma in the Night 13:15 -The Good Daughter 13:33 -Let Me Lie 14:17 The Woman in Cabin 10 14:38 -The Seven deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle 15:13 -Dark Matter 15:39 -Never Never 16:01 That was a lot of books lol 0_o
For days that repeat themselves, I’d highly recommend Before I Go To Sleep by SJ Watson. It’s about a woman who forgets everything about herself when she goes to sleep (think 50 first dates) and she keeps a journal about her days to help herself remember. But while she’s journaling, she’s figuring out that someone isn’t telling her the truth. It’s an oldie, but it’s a classic. I always fly through it!
For the ocean recommendation, I really liked We Will Meet Again by Renee Collins, which is a YA murder mystery where the private beach on the property acts as a portal for a time loop
' I, Ripper' by Stephen Hunter is a good one! The book is set in a way where are you are in the perspective of the killer we never and the journalist who is supposed to be finding finding out the truth. The perspectives alternate between the killers diary and the journalist memoir.
I’d recommend The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sagerfor people who are trying to get into thrillers. It’s one of the first ones I’ve read and it really made me fall in love with mystery thriller novels!
For thrillers set in a boarding school I recommend The Broken Girls by Simone St. James. It jumps between 2 timelines and the timeline set in the past takes place at a boarding school. The school is still a large part of the present timeline, and it also involves sisters and there's a touch of paranormal. For cult thrillers, The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes. Thrillers for "beginners" I recommend The Hanging Girl by Eileen Cook, it's YA so it's more "light", it's not gory or scary. I would also recommend Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew Sullivan. Don't Try To Find Me by Holly Brown I think is a good thriller for "beginners". Thrillers with an unreliable narrator I recommend Before I go to sleep by S.J. Watson, Sweetpea by C.J. Skuse, and I Love You More by Jennifer Murphy.
For a clos-knit group of friends doing spooky things, I think Donna Tartt's The Secret History fits the description. And it's just an amazing book that has so much to offer. It's beautiful, tragic, and disturbing. For a mystery involving sisters, I would also recommend The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It's a modern gothic novel and has books and writing among its other prominent subject matters. So if it seems like something you might like, definitely check it.
Love your new hair!! Here's a cool idea, you can read books that have a blurb lot review by your favorite authors!! Maybe to see if books they're reading match your taste :)?
I would love to see you do a horror recommendation video. I am a horror reader all year long and would love to see what you could do with that sort of video.
oh SHIT my lovely wife. never thought a thriller until you sold me on that one and I LOVED it. and i just finished turn of the key as well. your recs work for me
i never miss an opportunity to talk about this book so, as a two for one deal, the ghost writer by john harwood fits the spooky house and family secrets involving sisters recommendations! the quiet twin by dan vyleta is sort of a spying-on-you type of book (but please be careful, it's Extremely messed up from what i remember and i still think about it a lot 2 years later)
If you want a beautiful ocean centred book try The Tender Line by Kate Allen. The cover just speaks to me on a huge level because I love the ocean and I love sharks. The book is a MG/YA that deals with grief and mental health but everything about it is beautiful.
Whenyou started talking about Gone Girl I was like - yeah that's me! I want to read it, but I'm also proud of having been able to avoid spoilers all this time!
A few weeks ago I discovered your channel and you inspired me to read more thrillers (I usually read non-fiction). Today two books arrived in the mail: Gone Girl (because you promoted it very well) and Sometimes I Lie (because a locked-in syndrome is my worst nightmare). Very excited to read those. Thanks for all your recommendations and great videos! 😊
A good beginning mystery book is called There's Someone is Inside Your House. It about some teens in a small town and they keep getting murdered. The main character lives with her grandma, and there's a cute romance. Not super scary or gory but a nice gentle mystery.
Have you read ‘The Trap’ by Melanie Raabe? It takes place mainly in the protag’s mind and home because she doesnt leave the house anymore after her sister’s death and sees who she believes is the killer on tv and writes a book about the murder which sells well and attracts his attention
The more I hear about your taste the more I think you might like Sebastian Fitzek. He's a German author who writes psychological thrillers. I'm not sure how good the translations are but he is really good at unreliable narrator /twisted endings
Hi, I just found you channel and I must say I really really enjoy your content. I have been searching for members of the booktube community to resonate more with in terms of opinion and preferences and I have finally found that here. I like man other booktubers but have felt disconnected and even though I love them, felt that I needed to find more. Especially since I found my taste changing as I am going into my late middle/late twenties. Your videos are honest and interesting, without feeling like their trying to be. Although I am sure you work quite hard. So thank you and yeah. Glad I found you.
Just finished If We Were Villains based on your recommendation. It was not usually something I would pick up. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for more recs.
I think Watching You would be a GREAT one for someone who’s to scared of most thrillers, because it’s mysterious enough without being scary. Truly Devious would be a good one for introduction and not scary.
I love your bangs!!!!! I am definitely going to have to watch this video later, when I have paper and pencil by me. I freaking loved No Exit, it was a 4.5 star read for me. The missing season and watching you, I did already put on my wishlist. Thanks for the different recommendations. And I can't wait to read the turn of the key and lock every door. As well as my lovely wife. Which I have already bought because of your videos.
I read No Exit after I saw it in one of your vlogs and I literally loved it! After that I just bought the Turn of the Key and I plan to read it in October! I definitely want to get more into thrillers again!
Omg I can't believe I made it into the video!! 😭❤️ Thanks for the recs! It's true, the few thriller movies I've watched that didn't keep me up for weeks were domestics. I'll give them a go!! 💞
Any Paula Hawkins book will probably be a good entrance for you as well. At least her latest Into the Water was very domestic. I have not read Girl on the Train yet.
Thank you for all the cool book recommendations !!!! Also I love how you go to do a thriller recommendation video and three of the bookshelves behind you are empty 😂🙌🏼☠💕
I have to start by saying your hair looks awesome! :) Love most of your recommendations ... however the Woman in cabin 10 was one of the worst books I've ever read (glad it wasn't one of your favs)... :) Thanks for sharing!
I love that you did a whole thriller recommendation video. My October tbr keeps getting larger and larger. Also, not going to lie, I got overly excited when I saw my comment in your video. It made a bad day really good so thank you :)
Not to mimic all of the other comments but I usually dislike bangs and don't think many people can pull them off well but they always look fantastic on you!!!
I added some of your recommendations to my wishlist. I don’t read that many thrillers, but I think some of them will work for me whenever I am in the mood for one. Thanks!
Loved your connections on each category! Definitely got new ideas... Plus thought about books I had already read in a "new category", which has sparked a new interest in what I might be reading next.... Basically, lots of new, new, new!.... PS: I completely love the bangs and new coif! Fab!.... ✨😎✨
I got halfway through both My Lovely Wife and Watching You but couldn't quite vibe with them. After hearing your recommendations for them I think I'll give them a second try. I wonder if it was simply I was listening to an audiobook and that wasn't connecting with me. I almost abandoned "Her One Mistake" by Heidi Perks but switched to the print version and it became one of my favorite books of the year. If you haven't read it, I'd suggest it. It seems like it would fit what you like. As for mysteries for people who get scared easily. I'd suggest cozies like Hannah Swenson series or the Agatha Raisin or the ten million other series available. You get the mystery aspect without a lot of the scares (or graphic sex or violence). I know they aren't for everyone and they aren't high literature but they a great introductory tool.
That one by Mira Grant? It’s a thriller set in the deepest part of the of Ocean (for that reccomendation) but I don’t remember the title 😅 And maybe All The Missing Girls for time that isn’t linear?
This is off topic of the video kind of but was wondering if anyone had recommendations for some good survival stories? Like people get stranded in the woods/on an island/stuck in a cabin in the snow, etc. I love stories like that, I immediately added the one with the river that she mentioned to my tbr!
Lala: Opens her mouth
Me: *adds to tbr*

Omg I love your new hairstyle!
Love the BANGS! Also, Behind Her Eyes is one of my favorites!! That twist, oh my. I had to read the ending twice!
I'm reading The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle right now. At fisrt it's a little slow. Now I'm half way through it and I'm really enjoying it!
Gone Girl made me so mad and I'm still not over it xD
Your hair is always sooo glossy and glistening !! I would love a haircare routine 💕
Lala having bangs made me feel like an OG even though I started watching her vids like a month ago.
".......it's more like a cult." LOL
Vanessa Silverio my bf is gaming beside me as i was watching thing and that part made him chuckle
Great idea for newbie recommendations to read a mystery version of what they already read. Genius!
For the ocean recommendation, I really liked We Will Meet Again by Renee Collins, which is a YA murder mystery where the private beach on the property acts as a portal for a time loop

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng has some mystery involving sisters, and I really enjoyed it!
I wish I could take your hair and pop it on my head. Freaking love it ♥️♥️♥️
Hannah Ruthy I know!! ... what hair colour is this?!
i love this recommendation format/video idea sooo much
For a clos-knit group of friends doing spooky things, I think Donna Tartt's The Secret History fits the description. And it's just an amazing book that has so much to offer. Broken Girls also is a good boarding school book!! Loved it!
OMG yes! The Turn of the Key. I just finished it, and that ending made the book for me. fantastic.
I thought I would hate Behind her Eyes but it's one of my absolute favorite for that damn ending.
Close-knit friend groups doing spooky stuff is an overly-specific recs video I want to see!

I have never disliked a thriller that you have recommended. Not once. Super excited now because there are a couple here that I have not read!!! Yay😄
I thought I was being recommended an old video because of the bangs! Glad to see them back, your hair looks great :D
Low key high key LIVING for these bangs! Gurl 😍
The hair looks gorgeous
Love your videos💕 please keep being literally the most honest person on UA-cam

If you are looking for cruise mysteries you can also check out Passenger 23 by Sebastian Fitzek. It has a great twist
Wow! Thank you for selecting my post. I agree "The Good Daughter" entertains and I recommend it. I will give "Emma in the Night" a shot.
Your hair is so cute! Love the color soooooo much!
I got ‘My Lovely Wife’ for spookathon, I don’t read thrillers often and am so excited for it!
Yey I was just thinking the other day that I wanted to start reading thrillers and this video is super helpful! Thanks Lala!

For the sisters one I recommend "If You Knew My Sister" by Michelle Adams. Although I only gave it 3 stars.
For ocean related books I'd definitely recommend The Swarm by Franck Schätzung, the ocean and its misteries are basically the main characters
Okay, the list of books has some new additions, thank you for that and there's a neat pile of books for spookathon. I'm ready!
I would recommend Sadie and You, they are so good
Oh wow. I just watched this video five minutes after finishing The Good Daughter. Spot on recommendation!
I now realized that my favourite genre is thrillers/mystery/horror lol I've read more than half of these books
Loved your connections on each category! Definitely got new ideas... Plus thought about books I had already read in a "new category", which has sparked a new interest in what I might be reading next.... Basically, lots of new, new, new!.... PS: I completely love the bangs and new coif! Fab!.... ✨😎✨

If anyone is looking for a horror/thriller book with a pretty big twist that's based around camping then i highly recommend Camp Fire by Shawn Sarles
I just finished the Turn of the Key and sadly it was my least favourite Ruth Ware book. Just bought My Lovely Wife and hoping to start that soon!
The Ruins by Scott Smith is an isolated thriller/horror. I’d love to know your thoughts about it.
Yay!!! I’m so excited for this video it’s going to give me good recs for Spookathon
The bangs are back!!!!
before i start watching, can i just say, this hair is bangin
pun not intended
Do you ever worry that because you consume so many thrillera/mysteries, you wont be surprised by them anymore?
Love when you do these videos! Also love our hair!
