I'm approaching retirement and having a financial advisor has been helpful. I started investing later than most, so relying on compound interest from Etf's or bonds alone wasn’t enough for me. Despite that, I’ve managed to do well and am on track to retire with around $2 million

ETF's are traded on stock exchanges and can be bought and sold thoughout the day, like stocks. Mutual funds are typically bought and sold once per day after the market closes and prices are determined by the NAV (net asset value). Also, ETF's typically have lower fee's than mutual funds.
Kingof85 gave you some solid information. Many ETFs are tied to an index, so for example SPY is an ETF that tracks the S&P 500. The ETF has all of those stocks in it so if you wanted to trade the trend of the S&P 500 you could buy SPY. There are also ETFs that track sectors and industry groups. I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks against next year. Hope to make millions in 2024
