_David Copperfield_ waits in the wings for me. Everyone speaks so well of it. Your method of approach sounds well-suited; it won’t work today for me because I have multiple other reading projects that demand a daily chipping away. I’m not sure how it all will go, but I don’t have an aversion to seeing picking up a book as a chore. When it’s a pleasant chore, why not; but when it becomes an odious one, as _Les Mis_ did for me last year, then better to set it aside.
You have a nice wide-ranging balance.

@@davidnovakreadspoetry I’m certainly enjoying David Copperfield very much so far. I haven’t had any time to read it for the past week, fingers crossed I can get back to it soon.
Yes, that’s true, there are pleasant and unpleasant chores. I guess it depends how much you resent the chore - and there definitely have been some long books I’ve started to resent after a while. Oof I’ve heard Les Mis is hard work!
Thanks for watching and commenting, always appreciated!

It's such a wonderful book! I hope you enjoy revisiting it as much as I did. 😊

Lots of great options and, not surprisingly, lots of overlap with my lists. My 25 for 2025 will be coming out soon. I can't wait to start them! BTW, great choice for your 1st slow read. Hope you like DC!!

@@noteworthyfiction Ooh I’m looking forward to seeing your video too. I’m sure you’ll inspire me to add more to my reading list for my mid-year update.
I’m loving DC so far, and hoping I can fit in another reading session soon - I haven’t had much time for it over the holidays.

Great list, I think you’ll find David Copperfield a lot less intimidating than you think and definitely don’t be intimidated by Catch-22 it’s a complete joy.

@@TheBookThing Thanks muchly! Yeah, I’m like 5 chapters into David Copperfield and loving it so far. It’s long but not intimidating anymore. (Oo-er missus.) Thanks for the Catch-22 encouragement, I’ll try to bump it up my priority list. 🤞

I'm not having a goal next year either because I want to focus on chunksters and I want to remove that pressure too. I think Lichen is one of Wyndham's weaker books, but his books don't feel like SF in a way that may not trigger your current aversion. Anna Karenina is amazing and very very readable. I need to give Titus Groan another go, I tried it several times when I was younger but it was too adult for me. InsertLiteraryPunHere put Assassin's Quest in her worst books shes ever read list the other day, and she loves Elderlings, so even mega fans don't get on with that one.

Nice, here's to a goal-free year! I think I've read most of the other most notable Wyndham books already, but maybe I'll look at others besides Lichen. I haven't read the Kraken Wakes either, do you rate that one? I'm definitely intrigued about Anna Karenina, though it'll be many months before I get to try it! That is good to know that even mega Elderlings fans don't like Assassin's Quest - I liked the first two so much that the third book was bitterly disappointing!

@@genteelblackhole I've not read Kraken either, I've put it off because I've heard it's one of his worst. He seems to have loads of books I've never heard of though and some under other names.

I do own A Passage to India and Measure for Measure if you would like to read one with me (no pressure though!). I love all the various lists! 💛

@@booksimnotreading Oh that would be great fun, I’d love to! 💜 I’ve never done a buddy read on BookTube before, that’s an exciting new thing for the new year! Let’s figure something out, for sure. Thanks Kelly, glad you like the lists too! 😊
