Buona fortuna Anziano! Ho servito in Italia più di 40 anni fa. Ancora parlo la lingua abbastanza bene. Spero andare in 🇮🇹 Italia a luglio per la vacanza. Dio ti benedica. La chiesa è vera!
Awesome! I served my mission in Minnesota! English speaking. Now I've been learning Chinese for 4.5 years and Japanese for 2.5 years. Way cool to see Xiaoma speak with LDS missionaries in New York that are Chinese speaking! I sometimes hit up the local LDS Mandarin congregation in my area to practice my Chinese! As far as how missionaries get so good, I think it's just because they're forced to speak it. They get thrown into a new culture and environment and are assigned a language to speak. It's basically sink or swim. We also believe God will helps us learn the languages well. We basically have missionaries speaking every language imaginable all across the world. Including sign language. Anyways, I subscribe to Xiaoma's channel to practice my Chinese and it just made my day to see him talking to LDS missionaries in Chinese! Too cool!
Love this video♡ Many Latter-Day Saint missionaries learn a foreign language or two. My husband speaks German, My grandpa speaks Spanish, My cousin speaks Spanish and a couple rare and dying Myan dialects, another cousin is learning Albanian, my brother in law speaks Russian, my step dad speaks Japanese, another cousin speaks Czech, an uncle speaks Spanish....it just goes on. There are LDS people all over the world in almost every country and its such a wonderful community. Any time I go to another country I can easily find a church and everything is familiar and the people are always welcoming and excited to see you.
This was so fun to watch! I am from Utah and I taught English in Taiwan and learned Mandarin conversationally.... but not as a missionary. (I did serve an lds mission to Japan in 1986). I was super excited to see the missionary who went through the dual immersion program. I taught 2nd grade dli Chinese from 2016-2019. How cool that now those kids are old enough to serve missions and their language skills are so amazing in every area, understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Far beyond what I learned! And taught!! Thanks so much for this video!

According to a documentary I saw, "The Mission," Mormons have to take a special language immersion program before they go on a mission. When they first arrive in a country, their language skills may be mostly limited to phrases related to Mormon doctrine. But the Mormons depicted in the film seemed to become more fluent with the passing of time. And they were in Finland, learning the very difficult Finnish language. And, by the way, I highly recommend this documentary.
It was a good documentary. Danish is harder to learn but I get the point. The missionaries generally spend 8 weeks or less learning the basics and then pick up the rest in the assigned country.
that makes sense haha i met mormon missionaries in norway who spoke fluent norwegian after only two months. I asked how and they one told me it was the gift of tongues! he was joking of course but i thought they must be superhumans or something to learn a new language that fast. Your explanation is more believable though
@@babyramses5066 He was probably only half joking. The missionaries do put a lot of work into learning their new language, including being encouraged to use to exclusively after a certain amount of time in the MTC (missionary training center), but many will also tell you that the gift of tongues does play at least some part in their ability to learn so quickly.
@@babyramses5066 not only do they study the language for 6 weeks before going out, they study an hour a day while out plus speak it constantly. Being completely submerged in the language they can learn quickly. I served a mission in Ghana learning Twi

I’m LDS and this makes my heart so happy!! We really do work hard to learn other languages so that we can share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I served a mission in El Salvador and Belize. I didn’t know a lick of Spanish but I learned pretty quickly being surrounded by it. And of course repetition and writing down new words every day that I didn’t know and looked them up at the end of the day. Thank you for walking up to them and being kind! It means a lot, not everyone is nice to us 😔

你好小马! I served my mission here in Australia and learned Mandarin Chinese! It's very difficult with so much hate as a missionary, so I'm very grateful that you treated them nicely. I became somewhat fluent in about a year here in Aus; it was mostly due to talking with Chinese people on the street and learning to teach English in Chinese. Practice makes perfect! Love your videos! Keep it up!
Hi Sam. I am glad you lucked out and were called to Australia. Did you do a lot of tracting in city parks? I used to see the elders doing the GQ thing in the city centers as well. I even took some of them out to lunch when I was in Melbourne and Sydney. Where I live in Canada there are a few Mandarin branches, mostly made up of University and ESL students.
Hey I recognize those missionaries! They walked up to us while I was with my kids at Seward park (near Chinatown). They can speak a tiny bit of Cantonese too, but mostly Mandarin.
Great vid as always… I’ve been a watcher/not subscriber but I’m onboard now and can’t wait for the next post. You brighten up our days and show us we’re all in this together. Peace and love Xiaoma!
The walls that can be taken down when you take away a language barrier is so exciting and beautiful to watch all throughout this channel. Brings people together, brightens their days. I love it.
I met three missionaries in Oakland California that are learning to speak Khmer... they sometimes get assigned to learn relatively obscure languages, but if there's any significant population in a metro area, you can bet there's some young dudes from Utah who speak that language.
Missionaries learning multiple languages just to convert people to Mormonism: *Sometimes my genius is...it's almost frightening* I may not be Mormon, but I respect the hustle. They know how to immerse themselves into the local community to make followers feel welcome by picking up other languages followers would be more comfortable with
You think that's frightening........ U.S. government entities have been recruiting LDS Missionaries for decades not only do they learn a native language but they know the culture and the layout of the land
@Gandalf The Maroon “brainwashing” by your logic, every religion is a cult because that’s what every religion does. Like Mormons or not, they have EVERY right to believe and follow that path. I say this with every religion. It’s their life, their choice to follow specific religious beliefs or not. If people want to become Mormons and stick with it, let them be.
My son served his mission in Berlin. He was only out a month and they had him be Father Christmas with his very limited German. He learned fast. He watched a lot of Disney movies in German and translated a German cookbook he bought me for Christmas as part of his language study.
You have a really nice and smart son :). You can show him the following text, maybe he‘ll understand it without having to translate it; Ich hoffe du hattest eine tolle Zeit in Deutschland, liebe Grüsse und alles gute :)
A few years ago I met a mormon in Prague and he spoke flawless Czech. He had no accent. I swear I thought he was a native speaker. But he said he was from Utah and that he had learned Czech in just two years. Their language skills are incredible. (He also gave me a mormon bible. The book is crazy af.)
Great video! For those who know a bit more about the LDS mission program these missionaries had to go through official "set apart" to carry the missionary title and were blessed with the "Gift of Tongue" to learn new language(s) in unrealistic short amount of time. Sure there are some that have studied the mission language for many years before using it as missionaries, there are a lot of young men or women who didn't speak a word of the target language and were able to speak it fluently in as short as weeks/months.

When my family and I first came to the U.S in the late 1990s/2000, a few Missionaries came knocking on our basement and asked if we wanted to learn about Jesus Christ and the bible, me being the 7-9 year old kid, not knowing much English at all and having nothing to do all day since we were poor, my parents said yes. A pair of young ladies(i believe they were korean or chinese) would come by our place and have me read the bible with them once a week and every few months they would take me and my siblings to new york to sight see. My parents were always working and my siblings had school/work, so essentially it was free baby sitting for a few hours. It was one of the few positive memories I had growing up, I learned a lot. Great to see a video like this. Shows that we're normal people. Many people think that the LDS church is a cult, I've been a member for 11 years now and I have had great experiences going to church. We are Christians who believe in Jesus, wish more people knew that we are like them in that way, especially other Christians who are quick to judge us even thogh we don't do the same to them.
But mainstream Christianity is a Jesus cult too, so they shouldn't judge you. Step back far enough from any religion and it will seem kind of batsh*t crazy to be honest. But we hear our own version of craziness so early that it's harder to see.

I'm hoping that your course will help me become a better speaker and I can practice Chinese with strangers someday. It's cool you ran into them!
Love the LDS missionaries. They’re always respectful and want to help.Their whole mission is about serving others and some spend most of their lives preparing to serve when they’re old enough. Imagine studying the Bible, praying, exercising and eating well, working and saving money, etc. every day for years to be able to serve somewhere around the world. They don’t even know where they’re going until right before they leave. If that place speaks a different language then they also have to learn it before leaving. So cool. I don’t know of any other religion so dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
i'm apart of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints, it takes a lot of strength and courage from the lord to have these boys go out of the states or country for two years but its really awesome
Hello, God bless you. Please check out a video by Kabane (Seraphim Hamilton) titled "Assessing the Book of Mormon: Introduction" I hope you can find the fullness of the faith and the true teachings of Christ.
I think the first elder's take on language learning is correct. How do you learn so fast? Talking. LDS missionaries learned to speak because they learn to love and teach their people in their mission. Good guys. God bless 'em
I am Mormon (A member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and currently just got called on a mission in Dallas Texas and will be learning Spanish. To answer your first question in the caption the main reason a lot of LDS members know languages is because many serve missions where we are called upon to learn a certain language pertaining to which area of the world we get called too. This is in order for us to connect with the culture on a personal level and to show respect to certain countries. Second answer is; yes, we started presenting ourselves as members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in order to help many understand we are servants of Jesus Christ. Mormon is still a nickname though, thank you so much for putting this up on your channel though!
Do you guys still use seer stones to learn new languages? Follow up...if you translate a language, give a copy to your friend and his wife misplaces the translation, do you have to move on to a different but similar language? Maybe it's not exactly the same because god got mad or something along those lines? 😉 Dum dum dum dum dum
Living in Utah, I have heard a rumor about how missionaries learn a language fast. Basically when a missionary go to learn, they will teach them for about a few days and after that the missionary has to start speaking that language or they won’t get any food.
It's not quite that extreme, but after a few days they are banned from speaking English which can make it difficult to ask for things. Well, you don't have to _ask_ for food, but not being able to speak about food-related topics can make it hard to get the food you want, when you want, and in the right quantity. And if you reply in English you'll typically get ignored by everyone unless there's a good reason not to (such as a medical issue).
Oh man I wish this one was longer! I found it so fascinating, what a great interaction for everyone involved
that's what she said!

If you were to die today, are you a 100% sure you will go to heaven?
If no, here is what the bible says,
(1) Romans 3:23 KJV [23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Q1. Do you know what Sin is?
Sin is anything bad that we have done.
Q2. Have you sinned before?
Yes or No?
(2) Revelation 21:8 KJV [8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Because they have sinned, and God does not allow Sin into Heaven, the punishment is burning hell.
What is the way to reconcile our peace and relationship with God?
Q3. Do you know the Story of Jesus?
(3) Romans 5:8 KJV [8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus = God who lived up in Heaven, but he came down on earth and became a man like us, he lived for 33.5 years without committing any sin. Then there were certain people who were jealous and therefore framed him on phony charges, and crucified him. Then he was buried and resurrected on the third day; Now he lives in HEAVEN.
Q4. Do you know why Jesus went through all this bloody mess for us?
A4. As mentioned, our sin is the reason why we can’t go to heaven, and the only thing that can wash away our sin is the Blood of Jesus.
(4) Romans 5:9 KJV [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
According to the bible, the only way for us to reconcile with God is through Christ Jesus’s blood, and not through any works that we do or merits we accumulate, such as water baptism, attending church, or any good thing that we do. The following verses clearly support this.
(5) Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
(6) 2 Corinthians 7:10 KJV [10] For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
In order to get saved, repentance of one’s sin is needed to get saved, we need to be sorry, and repent, with conviction, that we are a wretched sinner.
(7) Romans 10:9 KJV [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
If you truly do believe in everything you have heard in the gospel, ,I strongly suggest you to make a proclamation to GOD!

Even though I don't believe in god anymore they were great people, bless them. Now look at New york...its full for freeloaders expecting everything to be handed to them.
Maybe it was because of the FLDS and their leader Warren Jeffs. They are a perverted cult who actually forced little girls as young as 8 years old to marry adult men. People can't tell the difference between the FLDS and the regular LDS.

Imagine studying the Bible, praying, exercising and eating well, working and saving money, etc. every day for years to be able to serve somewhere around the world.

That's some major cult vibes
