It's amazing to see just how simple the main riff actually is. Once you get it right at a slow speed, all you have to do is play it at the right speed. Well, that's the way I usually learn riffs and stuff.
Man these lessons would cost thousands of dollars in the real world...I'M subscribed for life . Thanks a million.............................................
this is amazing!!! Kids today have absolutely no excuse to not know how to play guitar. (old man voice)BACK IN MY DAY YOU JUST HAD TO GUESS WHAT THE GEETARRR PLAYER WAS DOING!!!
Jeff Roth It’s like that with anything music related today. Remember having to get your “music news” from magazines like Hit Parader and Circus magazine? There is something to be said for learning a song by constantly hitting rewind on a cassette tape or back on a CD, it taught you how to play by ear. Once you did it a hundred times you could tell by listening to a new song where they where on the fretboard or what chord they where playing. You had to actually work for it to get better. I’m not saying it’s any easier to learn a guitar today then it was a few decades ago but it’s easier to find tabs or instructional videos thanks to UA-cam and apps like Songsterr and Ultimate Guitar.
Are you kidding me Jeff Roth. I’ve been trying to do this for a week. This song is intermediate to advanced. Of course this guy can play it he’s a guitar teacher and obviously been playing for many years. Not so easy for some of us.
Nice tutorial. Thanks. It cleared up a few nuances for me. But for those wanting to really nail that main blues riff, there is one thing Carl missed: when the B-C-C# chromatic precedes it, the usual first note (B on the 5th string, 2nd fret) is not used. Instead strike the middle E first (4th string, 2nd fret). Then do as Carl said for the other times (starting on the 5th string B). It's a small thing, and easy to miss for sure (I did it wrong forever myself). But when you do it this way and get used to it, then it becomes easy to hear on the recording -- and it's even cooler imo.
I’ve been playing guitar since 12. I only dropped out because my teacher was teaching me in Spanish. Now as adult I realize how naïve it was on my part. I lost the opportunity of learning from a great teacher. Back in the day there was no UA-cam and the Internet was slow thanks to net zero. Technology has changed a game. Kids within two years are mastering Bohemian Rhapsody. Still the older generation earned their stripes through trials and tribulations. Nothing but passion sweat and tears. Fantastic video.
In the still of the night I hear the wolf howl, honey Sniffing around your door In the still of the night I feel my heart beating heavy Telling me I gotta have more🔥
Thank You for this lesson. It is the most spot on lesson on UA-cam. You play it very well, the tuning and tone are perfect, and you really show us "wannabe's" how it is done. I have always liked this song. IN DEPTH!!! Thanks!
Thanks for your awesome lessons! For those of us still trying to dial in on tone, it would be helpful if the description listed settings (i.e. used distortion at X, with a slight delay). Keep 'em coming - very helpful.
You're always my go to if I want to do a cover or just get a lesson best lessons 💯 on the web. It feels like I'm sitting with my older friends that played when I was learning and learning.
I know! I've been using DiMarzios since the 80s and want to get another strat jus to pop in some ProTracks. I've got a double bucker strat now with a Super 3/Super 2 set that positively crush Duncans.
@@angusorvid8840 Getting guitars b/c you love so many pickups is my problem to - I love Duncan's (Distortions) BUT Dimarzio's are my #1!!! I need to get another a strat to do stacked humbuckings -- insanity!! 💖💪😉
Great lesson...please, can you do a tutorial for "The deeper the love"? Really looove that song and there is no guitar lesson for that song anywhere around.
Hi! Would you please describe how you build your tone in this class? Mainly the equalization parameters in your amp and gears. By the way, fantastic class! Thanks!
Hi! Please, i didn't understand how you do at the minute 4:51, the "little octave figure", it sounds weird when I'm playing, it's not the same sound you do.
This is a great lesson for a great song. But does anyone else notice that the octave part of this riff is exactly Zeppelin's Immigrant Song? I'm sure that is intentional.
Nice. Be good if you could actually tell folk what your set up is and effects..because there is many! Many guys just have a guitar and a crappy amp so there's no chance of this sound.
RIP John Sykes ! We are going to lay this Friday night in remembrance of him. I knew I could learn it fast from ole Carl. Best on the net !

But that 'guessing things' create many guitar gods own style.
I had to buy the official TAB books (££££) and save up for REH or StaLicks vids. Ha!

You say this like someone can just casually watch cliffs of dover and play it perfectly after one watch
Thanks!
Thank you!

your vids are very helpful unlike the majority of guitar lessons, you fall in the 5% of Chanel's that help with guitar
love the sound your getting!
As ALWAYS your tone is Dead On!! Absolutely Brilliant!
great lesson....nice sound with those hotrails.......sweet
that Fender sound awesome & heavy
Have not played in years.. Got my guitar from the attic today thought this was a good song to begin with. Never played it all new.
This might be a good candidate for re-filming Carl. I’d love to see this with your dialed in production quality. Such a banger of a jam!!!

Also I've seen you with a Carolina shirt and I'm an NC native
John Sykes rocks!
Thank you Master Guitar Teacher, Greetings from Norway

Great lesson
Awesome lesson. Somehow I can't get an harmonics on the F# on the E string yet....practice practice...
I can't do it on any 🤣. I'm not bad at guitar really. And I play mainly rock/metal but it's something I just can't do 🤷♂️
How was your practice🤣
Finally i got it
Good deal bean trying to learn this song . Great teaching.
GREAT LESSON!!
Hi! Would you please describe how you build your tone in this class? Mainly the equalization parameters in your amp and gears. By the way, fantastic class! Thanks!

great song and lesson!! thanks!!!
Hi! Please, i didn't understand how you do at the minute 4:51, the "little octave figure", it sounds weird when I'm playing, it's not the same sound you do.
What pickups are these? They sound great
Love the sound, what kind of pick-ups are you using?
Great lesson. THANK YOU...
Great sound! What effects are you using? Do you run into an amp? Thanks!
Excellent!
Lecciones de guitarra majistrales
You're a great guitarist
That tone is amazing..what are you using to get it?
Awesome!
great lesson - thanks!
Can you do Ain’t talking bout love by Van Halen???
thanks, can you please share the complete signal chain and settings?
Great tone….what gear are you using?
I gotta ask...what rig are you running to get this tone from a Strat? Rack or pedals tuned in? Amp? Educate me. Sounds killer!
Great tutorial. I wish you would do give me all your love.
Very good
EXCELLENT.
What a rff!!!
One thing bothers me. Ive got the 87 record and the intro at 1:08 AINT the same as on the record and on every concert with Whitesnake.
Solved that. The first three notes are correct, after that it goes to the 2nd fret of the D string instead of the A string, then the rest as described
Спасибо тебе братан, ты молодец
How do you get your tone what pedals are u usin
You going to show us the Cello part?
Can you do a tutorial for their songs "Bad Boys", "Crying in the Rain", or "Children of the Night"? That'd be awesome!
Horrorfreak106 How about the whole album?
Maybe do slow an' easy by whitesnake?
How do you make a single coil fender sound so powerful.
What amp you using please ?
N effects
They aren't single coil, they are hambuckers withe single slot. Check Seymour Duncan Hot rails pickups.
Or Di Marzio DP 218 in this case.
Headstock like a Peppa Pig! Great Lesson! :D
Thank you. Nice sound, what pickups do you use?
you can be sure as long as you practice often, friends
Pleeeeeease dude i need a lesson for "here i go again" please
Отлично
how do u get that sound with your strato?
which pick up you have mounted?
Luigi church he’s using the bridge pickup
Someone can tell me the kind of amp or pedal? Thanks!
What gauge are using??
❤❤❤
How in the hell did you make that sound at 2:00? I can't 😁
It's a pinch harmonic
i know he said that they are eric johnson pickups
wow
its an easy riff but a hard one to nail..... wish it came more naturally to my aging fingers
Your voice sounds very much like Joe Bonamassa's.
Nice lesson.
Your doing nothing playing the music I love 🤟🤟
This is a great lesson for a great song. But does anyone else notice that the octave part of this riff is exactly Zeppelin's Immigrant Song? I'm sure that is intentional.
4:52
Nice. Be good if you could actually tell folk what your set up is and effects..because there is many! Many guys just have a guitar and a crappy amp so there's no chance of this sound.
What a song, guitar sounds like a caged tiger.
One sexy riff
nice emg's
The only things this video is missing is tawny kitean in her prime
omg CARL please REDO this, with your modern style! Please :)
Damn I really can’t get that pinch harmonic
John Sykes doesn't get enough credit... if only he didn't try to kick Coverdale out of Whitesnake
