Hey just want to say, like the videos that you make, and I'm catching up on your archive of videos on China. I'm from the UK, not from Asia, so not there to see it for myself, but still enjoy the videos anyways
thanks for watching and the kind words. It’s one of the pleasures of the work to get to connect with people from places far from where I am. Greetings from the States! If there’s anything you’re curious about and want me to hit on, let me know.
@@Asianometry Yeah I really enjoyed the video on China Tobacco, didn't realise what a huge company it was, but obviously the problems are going to accumulate.
I don't want you to do something just because I tell you to. I'd be interested in Taiwan's efforts on the ground to change mainland China politically, and visa versa. Or mainland China's efforts in biomedical gene editing, which looks a little bit concerning from the outside. I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever you do. I'm also interested in Iran, since it had a similar revolution to the one in China (obviously Islamic as opposed to communist), but the changes were just as drastic. Anyway thanks again
Interesting, I did not know Portuguese established the Macau trading post as early as 1500's. It's kind of an awkward relationship... like someone renting your basement long-term and wants to legally own your basement, yet you don't want to sell it to them, nor kick them out since you have some business dealings with the tenant.
Lol. That was a good analogy and a somewhat funny one. I have to remember this one. And note that i am one of "those" Portuguese proud of its history and culture 😉
I have Iberian blood. Most likely Iberian Sefardic Jewish blood. My Iberian Jewish dna is all over the world! Even in Macau. The word rang to me, I was confused as to why in China this word but the I seen the Portuguese colonized it. It all makes sense.
Great video. My mom was born in Macau and I have been to Macau during Portuguese rule and under China.
Thanks! How were those days like
Finally a video on Macau
Macau as a place gets pretty much no love in the History YT community. ( at least the English Speaking) VERY cool.

Omggggg this is all making sense now!.
Thanks for the video!👍
Thank you and thanks for watching!
It`s not Roao, it is João with a J. They were Portuguese. Not Spanish.

I just had a mandala moment
why not mention great ming naval victories against the portugas like tunmen and shancaowan as background
Would have liked to but the video was already getting long. Super interested in doing a video on the Ming someday in the future.
MACAO.
Viva Portugal os chineses sao conas .
Wait! Peking Treaty without any relation with Macau under Portuguese 🇵🇹rule!
