Leila left Finland to start her own business in Somalia

- Leila came from Somalia to Finland as a refugee in the 90’s. Couple of years ago she decided to move back to her birth country and established a solar panel company. Now she employs around 30 youngsters. “I came back to Somalia, because I thought this is a successful business, but creating jobs for young people is also important, ” Leila says. Her solar panel system helps farmers to pump water from the wells and to irrigate the farmland.
This video is part of media project, which was conducted by Wali Media Production Center and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland in 2017.

I got the chance to go Finland, at that time i was preparing to go masters to South Asia. I compared going there and how many years it would take me to get a chance to work and study. I rejected and went my masters degree. Alhamdulilah 2 years later i completed and went back to my home. There propose me to a second chance but i didn't think single day. Am satisfied here with my people and sand even without Job. Thanks mama Lila 4 ur inspiration. Thanks to Finland as well
