Haha, 6 months ago, before this video came out. I test drove all 3 cars. This reviewer think just like me. 5008 is great styling inside and out. Skoda has that edge of refinement. But in the end, I went with CX9 for fun to drive, better driving dynamics. Overall luxurious feeling. 5008 the model i drove didnt come with leather seat and the killer was the engine, it fell flat against CX9 and even Skoda is more preppy. Also, not sure about Peugeot reliability esp with icockpit, if the electronics is buggy, whole car is worthless. Anyways, I made the right choice. And this video almost exactly what I thought of each SUV. Well done.
But isnt it true that to do a proper apples and apples comparison you need to sped $62k+ on the Mazda to get all the technology that is available on the Kodiaq for around $54k? I dont think I could justify that price difference?
Gavin Nicholson this is exactly the choice that we had to make. We got an offer of a fully optioned Skoda Kodiaq for $52k drive away or $63k for a 2019 CX-9 Azami just couldn’t justify the $11k difference between the two cars. A fully optioned Kodiaq for $52k is truly hard to go past.
All Mazda needs to do to claim the crown of sales chart is to put the diesel engine into cx9 and turbo petrol into the smaller cx8. Want family hauler go with bigger wider diesel cx9, want drive fun, nimble, go with petrol narrower cx8. Win-win. How on earth have Mazda never thought about doing the swap is beyond me.
Mazda is a better performer than both cars.. although the exterior/interior of Peugeot looks the most luxurious. Skoda is quite decent too.. heck its technically bigger and faster than Peugeot although its outlook is a love/hate relationship for some. Mazda looks too 'safe' in my opinion.
I personally wouldn’t bother with the Peugeot, either the Kodiak or CX9 would be fine by me with one little grip about the CX9, when I get my seating position set up correctly my knee rests against hard plastic in the centre console and irritates even while sitting in the car let alone traveling any distance which is distractingly annoying.
