A heartfelt personal disclosure! Thank you sincerely. Kudos to you, Candy! Your trials and tribulations are felt and experienced by many, many people the world over. But few have the courage to tell the truth about what kind of life they have lived. The pain can often be too much. You are brave to explain your life, and deserve the highest respect for such an honest exposure. You have the best of qualities: Honesty, Integrity and Perseverance! Never change! Always be H.I.P.!!! And as for being a Tomboy behind your public persona, that's what makes you so special! Keep on keeping on! Good on ya!!! God Bless!
Hey Candy, it was a heartfelt sharing. You speak English so eloquently. I've found you gorgeous, open & honest about your past experiences. Please stay positive and will continue to follow your videos!😍
Thank you for the candid talk and sharing. When you are able to come out into the open to talk about it candidly without feeling judged, and not hide it, you have overcome it and moved on from it. Well, you indeed deserve better. You owe it to yourself to place first priority on building yourself up, and be uncompromising, and be assertive. You are first and foremost an individual Candy Yuen. You will be defined by being Candy pursuing causes that you embrace with a passion. Miss Hong Kong was but a one-off accomplishment. You ought not to be defined by it. It's time to leave that permanently behind as a one-off result. Folks in your home country, Hong Kong, gravitate towards false news and juicy gossips. Its universal because it makes them feel superior by being judgmental. However, with "Big brother" is increasingly bearing down on them (business folks with inflated egos, and the paparazzi), their days are severely numbered. I have neither respect nor sympathy for them who take advantage of those are vulnerable. Continually better days are ahead for you as you pursue your goals with a passion to build yourself up. **Cheers**
Hello Candy. It takes a lot of courage to talk openly about yourself. We all learn from our past. Thank you for sharing. Stay positive and keep smiling.
Self sufficient and responsible, but being used even badmouthing. They won't change so don't seek their approval. Inspiring life story. Much admiration to you.
Thanks, Candace for the brief recounting of your life. Also keep eating such yummy food --- good food makes us happy :) I also worked in the film industry and I studied cinema in Paris. Made documentaries and wrote screenplays. i love the films of Wong-Kar-Wai, especially "Mood For Love", and "Chungking Express"(California Dreaming) Your hard work and determination and desire to explore the world, life, with a curious and open mind will lead to great wonders and achievements :) Keep exploring ....forging your own path!
I think your such a lovely character candy , I love listening to you , hope your coping with the horrible weather we are having here in the uk at the moment....take care lee ❤️ always
Your strength and courage are truly inspiring to many. You've persevered this far, nothing can stop you in a mere moment. You're blessed, and u will never walk alone
Thanks for sharing your tough humble past with us. Having to be on your own since you were very helps you build character and helps you become stronger and achieve all your goals. Didn't even know you released a book. Best of luck in your future endeavors and travels.🎉
Nice to hear from you , I thought you were no longer making videos , very interesting video as usual . When you are talking about HK film industry that reminded me about Kung fu movies when I was going to the movie theater in Martinique ( French West indies ) in my childhood. At that time I never knew the HK film industry was so huge.
I really enjoy your videos, and you shared a lot about yourself in this one. I think your story is very interesting, and honesty about yourself is admirable. Your home always looks so comfortable and warm when you do videos at home, and you have such a calm and pleasant demeanor. It really comes across in this video so well that I almost feel the comfort of your home just watching the video. Lovely outfit too. I hope you come to Seattle Washington sometime!
I always enjoy your candid videos. You don’t strike me at all as having a “masculine” energy. You appear as a very strong, independent woman who is “a little guarded” which is perfectly understandable because you had to “survive” on your own from such a young age. You are wise to be more “private” because main stream and social media is horrible for many celebrities. Be SELFISH, you have worked so hard and follow your dream(s). It’s a given that you will stay true to yourself with your sweet, charming personality and wonderful smile. I am cheering for you !! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽🙇🏻
Your previous videos have shown that you are an upright and forthright person. Now that knowing more about you from this episode, you have my upmost respect. Best wishes to you always.
I just love your episodes...So full of forthright ideas and imagery... Sometimes it's nice to get a little feedback with all the obvious effort you put in... Big virtual hugs 'atcha!!! Keep being you, it's a beautiful thing... 🙏🙏🙏 👍😇👍
“From humble beginnings come great things”. Thanks for sharing your life story Candy, it was both interesting and inspiring to hear your background and the hard work you’ve put in. It’s refreshing to see a successful person who has kept their feet firmly on the ground, keep up the good work 🫶
What a revelation; you've honed your skills since a very young age through school & work, you would have made any parents proud. Treat yourself well, nice refreshing new look 👍
Eczema is very common among people these days due to autoimmune disorders post Covid infection. I know many who had Covid later develop this type of skin inflammation. Steroid based skin cream medicine should help.
Thanks for sharing your past. 🙏 Really puzzle me why such a nice lazy like you is still single. You deserve a real nice and kind gentlemen. Be careful of fake ones.👌❤
Oh dear Candy, life must be tough for you along the journey. Maybe that all sums up what you are today. To me you are so versatile and have so much integrity. It is a trait I so respect and appreciate. I hope you find good vibes to do what you like and are close to you. All the best Candy🫰🏻
Dear Candace, Thank you for sharing and for being so genuine. Wishing you much happiness, joy, and peace in your life. We all have our own past. I share the same sentiments as I also started working at a very age too. You're an inspiration to all of us. It's amazing that you are true to yourself. Take care. 😊
Lovely to hear your stories Candy, I'm a big fan of Godfrey Ho and Mike Abbott who made many HK movies, did you ever did you ever get to interview them?
I have been fighting eczema ever since I've turned 60. As an aged person, your skin becomes thinner, more susceptible to eczema. Currently I'm using 2 major weapons against eczema, firstly I wear all clothes and use all bedding with 100% cotton, and secondly I use a new product from Dove containing oat for bathing
With every failure comes the experience you need to learn, so you can become a better person. Candy, I also came from a very humble beginning. At age seven my older brother and I had to take care and look after my little brother , I was five, while our parents went to work. Mom would work in the Chinatown sweatshop and dad would be working in a supermarket, as a butcher. We would be at home taking care of little brother, making formula to feed him, change his diaper, bath him, and put him to sleep. After putting him to sleep, then we would start getting dinner ready. By the time mom and dad came home the rice is cooked. The rice was to fill our empty stomach. I became very mature at a very young age, I really didn’t have a childhood we were too busy taking care of things while our parents went to work. In a way, I believe being poor when you were young was good, you didn’t know what being poor was. You also learned to appreciate the little things you have. I was never ashamed of letting people know how poor we were, it just shows them what you can do to overcome your situation through hard work. By the time I was in junior high we had moving out of the ghetto and moved into a middle class neighborhood. You learn to appreciate people and how they treat you, and also learn to be compassion for others who don’t have much. I learned at a very young age not to be afraid of your past. Life can only be understood by looking at your past in order to move forward in life. I too am a giver, I try to please everyone and sacrifice myself to pleased them. What happens in doing that is you tend you lose yourself of who you really are after a while. I’ll never do that again. One thing about having good friends, “I rather have four quarters than a hundred pennies.” Take care and have a wonderful life. Stay true to yourself. See you at your next vlog. 🙏🙏🙏
Very interesting story, i do not really understand why they told you not to speak about. Your childhood was hard but you learned so much lessons for life. It is a big gift If you can promote yourself and always find a solution or job.
Hi! Candy👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Thank You for sharing this interesting vlog. You are so honest and humble. Enjoyed watching this vlog of yours. Do you still have your book for sale? Enjoy your stay in London. Stay safe and take care ❤️
Is your book still available, and would you sign my copy if I bought it? I am in Vietnam at the moment but will be back in England in a few weeks. By the way, I went to school in Hong Kong many many years ago, I don't remember it at all but I know we lived in Kowloon.
You are the most interesting person. So vulnerable and brave. Surprised to hear you describe yourself as masculine. I think Wonder Woman is more fitting. Great video
I happened onto your channel last year admittedly because of your incredible beauty. But what kept me watching was how dignified and pleasant you are. So many of the "beautiful people" in this world are very egotistical; i.e., not very nice.
I love those croissants too, in the morning with butter and good coffee. Where I’m at there are really none to be had, croissants and coffee. Too bad. Your life story is touching but there are many out there who had and have the same determination you demonstrate. Give the USA a visit. See how this place rates in your eyes and experience. It’s not the best I suppose but it’s far from the worst. There’s always room for improvement in everyone and everything and everyplace.
You are stronger than you know. You are alone but not lonely. That requires special inner strength. It is your past that defines who you are today. Hold on to it.
I wish I had your energy and that strong drive to look for opportunity, Candy. But, I do have that people pleaser side like you, so when I work, I also try my best not to disappoint my boss 🤔 My advice to you is to start your own business rather than looking for job in UK. You can cook? Why not try to make something then sell it? I'm sure hardworking person like you, Candy, can success. Or if you like writing, then make another book? Best of luck for you. And thank you for sharing your story, Candy 🙂
You are too beautiful of a person to be alone, Candy. Quote: "There's always tomorrow, for dreams to come true Believe in your dreams come what may There's always tomorrow with so much to do And so little time in a day We all pretend the rainbow has an end And you'll be there my friend someday There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true Tomorrow is not far away We all pretend the rainbow has an end And you'll be there my friend someday There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true Tomorrow is not far away" End quote.
You are a strong person. All your life experiences and hard work in establishing yourself will pay off. You will be a better person overall. Keep improving your skills.
You are a beautiful honorable person but actually this kind of tough childhood is very common actually extremely common for Chinese people everywhere. It's great your life is elevated now. Just know hard work sacrifice of the past pays off even if it's not in wealth for some, then in character.
Hello Candy, Hope you keeping well. I really loved this video getting to know you much better, I now know you much better. You have had a much exciting, varied life and very hard up bringing at times, many hard jobs. I myself had much work in cafes and restaurants and it was very tough, hated it at times, but the long hours meant very good pay. back to you Candy, you mentioned Media Asia you worked for, wow, I remember that company, used to order all my Asian cinema from them, a guy called Bey Logan did all the commentary for all the action, martial arts films I got on DVD, the company then become Fortune Star from Star TV, and later it become the great Golden Harvest, do you remember any of this?. Wow you worked along side the great Jet Li on Warlords, i know the films. I am single myself, like been single, but find it easier by myself, very independent like you. Like you i try to keep this message short and sweet, sorry hahaha, not achieve that. I love your long videos, and its been a massive pleasure listening to you Candy. Have a lovely day. xx :)) 😀😊😘
Candy, you are a delightful, intelligent human being and I am amazed that anyone could bad mouth you. Believe it or not your hard life as a youngster maybe made you want to strive that bit extra and you did just that. Whoever marries you will have a lot to live up to. I know it is true about Chinese people worshipping money as when I lived in Singapore I got engaged to a Chinese girl she was beautiful but she said to me when I scratched your ring on the window it did not make a mark ( it was a diamond) so i said ok forget it.
