“How to Replace a Ceiling Fan”
Step 1: Replace the ceiling fan
Step 2: You’re done!
Bingo. Talk about lack of steps
"next you remove the fan". yeah that's what the video was supposed to show.
l ryu ya follow the steps in reverse
sloppy lowes
Lmao facts🤣🤣
No its supposed to show how to install
Followed these instructions to the letter and my fan did not turn on... oh right, I should probably turn the breaker back on! On the serious, tho, great instructions, helped me DIY the master bedroom fan with minimal fuss, thank you!
😂
😂😂😂😂😂
This was like sitting in calculus class, where the instructor would skip steps with a casual "from here it is intuitively obvious." This is little help to a rookie doing it for the first time . . . next time spend the time to explain the entire procedure. Too much detail is far better than not enough.
Cody Phinney I appreciate the fact that you went through the effort to put the video together. I just needed a bit more detail on how.
Thanks for the information
😂 I’m a female that have the slightest idea 💡 of what I’ll be doing, so I take it I need to find another video.
For more detail look for the specific model you are going to install. This is intentionally general to match the process for most fans.
@@TheeHistoryTeacherexactly…I wanted an overview to see if it was even something I wanted to attempt! Good info!
Ceiling fans really help the flow of air within the room
Nice Job
“Remove the old fan” …. Wow why didn’t I think of that! 😏
this video gave me the confidence to replace 4 ceiling fans in my house. Although they came from Home Depot 😁
at 'hit the power' dont forget breaker ;)
Matt Harrison can't be too safe with electricity!

The moment you realize what the reverse switch was used for .
Ador Lopez 😂 I’m actually mind blown 🤣 that’s what it was for haha I thought it just was based on preference which way you want it to spin or one moves the air less then the other one who would have known lol
I thought the reverse is what changed the speed
I just found out a few months ago. Lmao
SlipdragonX YT well I knew cause I'm a vintage fan collector
@@wbaba34 oh wow. That's awesome
They make it look so easy..
You forgot to say turn back on the breaker
42 in fan is better for 75 sq foot and 29 inch fan only is good in a small closet in my opinion
How do you connect the receiver
Thank you. Blessings to you.
Old Fan: Hampton Bay Redington II New Fan: Harbor Breeze Crosswinds
Love that you have a woman doing the installation! Go Loews!
Wait, what do you do with the extra green wire hanging off of the mounting bracket? You skipped that part!
A What If? What if the old ceiling fan does not have a light and the new ceiling fan does, will you need to add a wire to the light? Trying to plan ahead by asking you experts first.
You may be able to just add a light kit to the old one.
That ceiling fan is so cool
I loved my 3 Harbor Breeze fans! The Paradiso, Armitage, and My brand new Barnstaple Bay!!!
What do I do about the red wire coming from the ceiling? Do I hook it to the fan also
That should be for lighting if your fan has no light then cap it off with a wire nut and good to go 👍🏼
Ese ventilador de techo yo lo tengo pero el color es diferente
Love to watch these videos. They really help.
Rita Revell @ o
This was actually short sweet and simple…everyone stressing the removal part but you could always just work backwards from this video duuuuh same screw that secured the fan will unsecure the fan….Sam ball/bracket that secured the fan will unsecure the fan….just takes a couple more brain cells… and if your still on “how to locate the circuit” just hire a professional 🤣 better safe then sorry when playing with power
I tried DIY with my replacement fan. Then when I switched breaker on and turned on fan, acrid blue-grey smoke filled the room. Not sure what to do...
Turn it back off
How do you open a light switch to replace a 9 volt battery for back up power
Thank you Lowes!
How do you reverse the rotation?
Hi, A1 Face. There's usually a switch on the side of the fan to reverse the rotation. Thanks for watching.
Forgot the part where they turn on the breaker
Took the 5 fan blades off,
My ? Is NOW WHAT?
TRIED TO SPIN IT BUT ITS STUCK.
? HOW DO YOU YANK OFF THE BASE HIDING THE WORES?
I know installs depend on a lot of factors, but is replacing a fan really this easy? I need to replace 2 in my home. I can't really afford to pay someone. But don't want to cause a short and set my house on fire either.
A lot depends on the age of your home. The older it is (like pre-1980) the more likely you'll encounter an unpleasant surprise. If the outlets in your house are 3-prong, everything is probably up to code. If not, you might need to do some kind of adaptation. Both Lowes and Home Depot offer classes, and I also recommend the seejanedrill channel here on UA-cam.

what difference it make if i install indoor fan outside on covered porch ?
well if you have an existing fan out there it should be a direct swap.
Itll be fine. Ive had my indoor fan outside for 9years now. Time to replace it
indoor fan blades can warp over time, (as mine have) but many brands will sell replacement blades that are indoor/outdoor so you can replace the blade itself rather than the entire assembly. Personally, I'm swapping my 3 indoor sets for outdoor ones that are on my covered porch because birds/spiders/insects get inside the non-sealed light area very easily and make a huge mess all the time.
If you live in a hot and humid (especially!) climate, you want plastic blades! Other types will generally warp and/or mildew in the humidity!
best video ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea
Eh I’m just gonna get my dad to do this, he knows more than I do
Haha
Forget to turn the breaker back on lol
are u serious its very obvious to turn it on. only stupid people don't turn on, and plus why would the fan be on if they didn't

Genius
What do you do if a box breaks
David G if electrical box breaks do the following:
1 Cry.
2 Console yourself with high-octane beer.
3 Curse out the dyslexic overpaid 1st year engineering student who designed the electrical box.
4 Curse out all Liberals (unrelated but ALWAYS makes ya feel better).
5 Contemplate returning to post-secondary school so that you can engineer a better electrical box.
6 Fantasize about how, at a meeting with your peers, you will make the 1st year engineering student hang his head in shame while you verbally tear apart his work.
7 Drink more high-octane beer.
8 Eat some unhealthy food.
9 Enjoy a 3-hour power snooze.
10 Repeat as necessary until you feel better.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

If the Fan blades are only 20 inches from the wall instead of 30 inches, what happens?
It's all about proper airflow, Ty. It'll just be less effective at moving air throughout the room.

@@danu2004 the crosswinds is NOT a ii. It is a crosswinds 1st generation because it has pull chains. Crosswinds ii only has a remote while the crosswinds i has pull chains + remote. But other than that they are basically the same thing.

I don't have anybody to do this for me for free and I am too young to do this myself. We dont have the money for a professional... where can we find someone to do it for free? My moms friend was supposed to do it yesterday but decided not to step up because I was in my room??? Hes not coming back???

YYou skipped steps mam. Just dont pull light off like you did. Maybe take blades off .
Fan "size" should be a separate video, and really a matter of opinion. I came here for install, which begin at the 1:00 mark. Instructions good otherwise.
I don't want my ceiling fan because I have megalophobia.
Oh ya on my fan has a switch thanks

That sucks, thought it would be simple
This video purposefully tries to worry you about a bunch of stuff you don't need to worry about when you're REPLACING a ceiling fan. That way you call the Lowe's team and they make their bread. Watch a different vid.

My room is 144-225 in my new house. p.s I moved to a new house.
