    The Enneagram is a personality tool that helps individuals understand how they're uniquely wired and how their core fears, desires, and motivations impact their lives and relate to others. There are nine enneagram types that help makes sense of the uniqueness of each person. In this Mind of Christ UA-cam series, "Mental Health Tips for All Enneagram Types," Justin Amos offers practical tips to help improve one's mental health based on their specific enneagram type. These could be struggles with anxiety, depression, shame, fear, etc. These mental health tips are by no means exhausting, so take what works for you and forget the rest!

    Enneagram 4s are often called The Romantic or the Individualist.They long to stand out from the crowd because blending in with everyone else is so boring. But sometimes the desire to be unique and different can lead 4’s to being so tough on themselves that they can struggle to really love who they are.
    And that’s my 1st mental health tip for Enneagram 4’s - love yourself. Do everything in your power to learn to grow to love who you really are and who God made you to be. Surround yourself with a few friends who will encourage you and help you to believe that you are deeply loved and you are enough. 4s can sometimes struggle to feel that they’re even “too much” for others. Obviously we all need to learn healthy ways to self-regulate, but never forget that you are exactly what God had in mind when he designed you. The more you can love yourself, the more confident you’ll be to walk through life as your own person without the need to compare yourself to others. When you’re confident and secure in who you are, you’ll be able to better love people for who they are. So, learn to love yourself. It might not be an easy journey but it’ll be worth it.
    4’s are also known for being unafraid of their emotions. And while it’s good to feel your feelings, we can’t let our emotions dictate our lives. So here’s mental health tip #2 - Rather than feeling sad and just letting yourself stay feeling sad for a day or multiple days without doing anything about the sadness, start to consider what your emotions are trying to teach you. Are you sad because someone crossed a boundary and perhaps you need to address the issue with that person? Consider what those strong emotions are trying to teach you. Our emotions are a signal that we should pay attention to something. Find a trusted friend that can ask great questions to help you explore what you’re feeling rather than withdrawing and isolating.
    If you’re a type 4 that is aware of what you’re feelings mean or what they’re trying to reveal to you but you still choose to wallow in your sadness or shame or whatever it might be, then try to lean into truth and logic to help you stop wallowing cycle.
