Home projects and shenanigans at our country home, Sugarwood

- It's been slow going, but many home projects and shenanigans have been ongoing at our country home, Sugarwood, and here are just a few things. If you remember the potted yellow tulips I purchased in January. I finally cut them back and saved their bulbs for fall, I stripped the wallpaper in the front hall, ordered new wallpaper for the house, we purchased a side-by-side to use around the property and in the gardens, and we started some prepping to collect maple sap. I've done more around the home and I have done a bit of consignment shopping, but I will share that for a future video.

Sugarwood has found her people , who love and protect her . It brings joy to the heart !
What a good husband!! kudos to Ben for being such a loving hubby.
Thank goodness there are wonderful people like you and your husband who are willing to work and save this beautiful home.
Fun to see Ben with his toys, Willow with her toy, and you making mental notes of projects. Beautiful winter day out.
So glad you are feeling better and healing well! Looking forward to that energy we are so used to. This was a nice relaxing video. Enjoy your tea!
It is such a pleasure to go along with you as you explore Sugarwood's natural beauty. I can sense your enthusiasm, anticipation, and joy. Thank you for a perfect afternoon drive in the Gator, with sunshine showcasing the winter landscape and the perfect musical accompaniment. Just what I needed. Thank you!
Linda, what a fun video. I loved the hunt in the crawl space. The gator ride was wonderful. You guys are blessed to live in such a beautiful place and thanks for sharing Sugarwood with us. Looking forward to more adventures with you, Ben and Willow.
On the trip to trim the tree I started singing “over the river and through the woods” 🎶
What a wonderful life
Linda, that's good news that you're feeling better. I enjoy watching your changes and upgrades... so enjoyable and interesting. 💛🌻🤗
I'm Gwenda: I enjoyed everything in this video and the music!! It was so nice to be out in the snow with Willow. I love Willow! She was so cute out of doors with her toy squeaking and riding in the baby truck! I hope your surgery heals quickly but take it easy.... Thank you for this refreshing treat ! My you have such a great husband!
Thank you and I agree... He's my best friend.
Loved visiting with you! Your home and surroundings are so peaceful and inviting! Thanks for taking us along! Glad you are on the mend, can't wait to see your next projects!
Lovely home, I already see your " creative touches" to turn a house into a "home." Very excited to watch it progress!
Glad to hear you are recovering. That red barn with snow on the ground and bare winter trees is so picturesque, as is the rest of the property. It's easy to see why you and Ben chose this property. More and more it is essential to create a safe haven and comfortable retreat from outside worries and Sugarwood provides a beautiful canvas.
Just love watching you & Ben get involved in house projects. My husband & me were the same just enjoyed doing things together. Married for 60 yrs. He could do everything I wanted done in or on our houses. We never did get to own an older home. There was always things to change & fix things to our liking. He’s passed now miss he lots but reminisce watching you two 😊
How special it is to have such memories! Thank you so much for sharing. Hugs
Happy you’re healing well and feeling better. I have to say your videos are so perfect, they’re calming, the music is wonderful, you get into all kinds of mischief that I would, you show us a lot about New England, your property is lovely. In short, I so look forward to seeing what you’re up to. I love your decorating sence, I enjoy your cooking videos, and I love your lifestyle, flower arranging, everything!
As much as I love these winter videos, they make me cold! Haha. Lots of work inside and out, but what a gem you have in Sugarwood. Love watching Willow enjoy herself too. I look forward to future videos and your progress.
I love the new wallpaper! And it was so fun to ride around your property and see the snow and beautiful winter!
Willow has such a great dog life, so much fun helping out on the farm!
I couldn't agree more! She is such a good girl.
I always learn something from your videos. Today was cutting lettung the leaves turn brown on the flowers, cutting & storing till Fall. LOVE the new wallpaper. Also learned to use water & vinegar to take wallpaper off. Such a beautiful property. 24 acres WOW!!!! I just finished painting a small bedroom in our to use new home built in only 1955. We are both 63 & can still move well although sometimes lots of moans & groans LOL!!!!
So glad you are healing. I know for you this has been absolutely terrible!! I so loved this video. Enjoy seeing Your part of the world, which is beautiful. Thank you to Ben also he really adds more enjoyment to the videos Ty Ben!
Oh! So you’ve had your surgery, wishing you an easy quick recovery! So excited to see your fun ideas come to life in your new antique home.
Dear Miss Linda, I enjoyed every moment of your outdoor property views & tour!! 🐦🌷🐇... 🥰
You must be in heaven! So much to do! Decorate the house, work on the yard. We've been in our house over 30 years, nothing left to do. Although, I'm going to grow cut flowers for the first time this year - you've inspired me! Especially the peonies!
Love the wallpaper. Glad you are feeling better but please be careful and don’t rush yourself. Spring is coming!!🌷🌸🌺☺️
Sugarwood is a heavenly place! Love your vision. Tell Ben, thanks for the visual ride in the gator! I found the ride peaceful.
Thank you! I will tell him. The more we re-open the old cart paths in the woods, the more rides we will go on.
At the end with the fire going it looks so cozy. The gator is adorable and already a great help. Nice that you got outside. I am sure you are not used to sitting idle but soon you will be able to delve into all your projects. Thank you.
I think with Sugarwood is going to make a beautiful come-back after so many years of neglect in the gardens. I am excited to join you on your journey! Ben is a sweetheart to be taking such good care of you. By the by, your background music is delightful and bang on.
Bless our men for doing the job’s we hate to due But, want done.
You are such a calming voice in this crazy world...... thank you 🥰
What a gorgeous piece of property at Sugarwood. Looking forward to all your do it yourself projects. Something after my own heart.
Your property is beautiful.....l can imagine a horse drawn sleigh going thru the woods....
Enjoyed the video....springtime will be gorgeous...can't wait for the flowers.
I loved finding a 1800's photo of the family here, with their horse drawn carriage and bicycles, and could envision them going into town for a celebration I was reading about.
Your gardens will be, and already are, such a source of joy for you, and I have no doubt that you will make them timeless and beautiful. It’s nice to see you outside and already working around removing wallpaper! Spring is just around the corner-hopefully we’re having our last little cool/cold spell here in Northern Arizona. I can’t wait to see all the cactus blooms in the desert around us. I hope you continue to heal well and will soon be out in your gardens fulfilling your dreams!
Love your videos. Most lovely and relaxing music. I live on Long Island,NY in a Cape Cod white brick home with black shutters. I am loving your transformation of Sugarwood. So happy you are healing well and are feeling better.
Your property is just gorgeous, especially in the snow. I like your new John Deere vehicle too; it looks like it will serve you well. Thanks for taking us along with you. Hope your shoulder is feeling better.
I enjoyed taking a ride and seeing some of your property. Love the new gator. We have a UTV, we use it on our property, pull trees , move wood, and we also go for rides with our little Shih/Maltese. We tried to get our 2 G.S. to go but they want no part of it. Watch those wasps nest. I was raking one time on the back property and I hit a nest of digger wasp in the ground. I got stung 7 times on my head. 😬 That sure hurt! I just love watching Willow running around playing with her toy. She is such a good fur baby💕
omg....I've never had wallpaper come off that easy !!
I just love watching your channel. Very relaxing and sometimes a laugh. The two of you exploring that small space was so fun to watch. Hope the healing process is going well. Looking forward to more beautiful videos. Take care❤️
Linda, I love your videos. Willow is a very sweet dog and loves his wife at Sugarwood. He gets to run all over the place. No need to name your Gator. It is the best name ever! I graduated from the UF and our mascot is the Gator. Ha Ha. You know, someone from UF developed Gatorade and some other products. Love, Gator Cathy
What beautiful property you have and I can’t wait to see all you do there when spring comes.
I am also looking forward to your new hallway wallpaper being put up. It is perfect!!
Ah Linda, I sometimes feel I’m living vicariously through you! We live in a suburb, but have the luxury of butting up to the far end of a heavily wooded county park. It’s so interesting to see some of the projects you & your husband tackle. As we age, we realize we are right where we belong. Nice to see you healing…. Looking forward to more adventures!
The first spring in a new landscape is so exciting. Our current home had so many perennial gifts…some of them I never heard of before. It also gave me a chance to fill in with my favorites that were surprisingly missing (hydrangea, peonies, forsythia). That John Deere looks like a lot of fun. That's on my someday wishlist (along with donkeys…lol).
Awe thank you for this tour it was very enjoyable, that storm was wicked, can't wait to see you all doing the maple trees, can't Wait to see your gardens and the different ideas you plan to do. Have a wonderful rest of the day, glad to see that your healing from your surgery.
When you said you’d have to name your little gator...Gladys popped into my head! I don’t know why, I don’t even know a Gladys! Now I wish I had a Gladys the Gator of my own to help in the yard!! Glad you’re on the mend and wonderful little tour today! 🇨🇦
I always look forward to your posts...I am so glad you are healing and I love how you still have adventures while you heal! I love that you took us for a ride on The Sugarwood Express (You said you were looking for a name...lol)
LOL the Sugarwood Express. I like that!
Willow riding is so cute. First time I have seen or heard of a snow squall...that was beautiful
What a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing this magical moment with us.
Lovely home & family. Lucky you have a great partnership! 💕
Thank you Linda. I do feel blessed.
Love the word shenanigans !!! Fun video , thank you for taking us along .
Glad your feeling better Linda.
Always enjoy your pretty winter views from your property. I busted out laughing how Ben is with Willow - I was telling my husband the same thing - LOL. I said the same things you did before I watched your video - too funny.
Have a great weekend. Can’t wait to see your hallway. 😊
I love the look of wallpaper but not nail holes. I can change my mind a lot. I removed all the wallpaper and had the walls textured. Then they came out with wallpaper you just stick and remove. 😜. Get well soon, ~ Janet 🥰
Thank you Linda. I so love when you make these videos, it's such a beautiful place. God bless you and your family. ❤️
My husband would never do that. 😂 remove something that did not need to be removed . You married a “kindred spirit “.
Glad you noticed that repeat in the wall paper pattern. It could have been ver distracting. I am amazed what you can do with one arm. I have become obsessed with my mismatched light switches. I am trying to ignore it but now I can' t unsee it. Arghhh!
Thank you for this beautiful little road trip in our own New England!
Watching your videos have made me look at my own home differently. Spring is coming and I feel the change in the air already. . We have been looking for a new home, without much luck. But, I’m finding I’m embracing the one I am in at the moment. That’s seems right some how. I’m not sure I can explain how I am feeling, but it just seems to be the right thing to do. I guess I just want the forever home, now, and when we get the new home. I love your videos, you have a gift for vlogs. Happy Sunday.
I was sad to see you leave the Groton? house. Now I understand why, Sugarwood is such a beautiful home and property. Those floorboards in the attic are huge. Imagine the tree used and the work that was done by hand, no petite, battery operated hand saw!
Such an enjoyable video Linda. I love your new toy and that little chainsaw 😁. Looking forward to all of your upcoming projects. Hope you’re doing well, have a nice weekend.
I love those stone walls around your property! Is it called dry stack? I’m amazed at what you accomplish with one arm!
I grew up in upstate New York and lived in Vermont for ten years. I LOVE real maple syrup! I always wondered though,(since you have to boil down forty gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup)how was it invented? Did a Native American squaw forget it on the fire and came back and said, “sweet!” ? 🤔 😅🤣😂
Hey Linda so glad that you are doing better and resting..Love what your plans are for everything so far.. Can't wait to see the rest.. I love it all very relaxing..Thank you again and we'll be looking forward to more..
Lovely video of your property. I can't wait to see it in the Spring. How about calling your newly acquired motor vehicle, Gator Aide?
I love you house is beautiful the land around the house with lot of the tree is look sou peace . I now you go to plant lot beautiful flowers . Thank you very much to show has the beautiful Sugarwood .
I can see you are already loving the Gater!! They if you put one of the security vest on a dog they’re not so anxious. I remember when we lived up north I used to like to go out on a clear sunny day freezing cold and just go out and just sit. My husband use to say what are you doing? I would reply just enjoying the day. You know how it takes awhile for maple syrup to flow out of a bottle. Well it takes a long time to make it. I am sure you have read up on this but you have to be patient because even thou it is getting warmer and sun is hitting the bark makes the bark feel warm. You need to make the tree roots are still frozen otherwise the sap is not a true flow going up snd down the inside of the tree. I knew you are anxious to start doing things but you need a good recovery for all your spring summer to do list. I do enjoy you and I am glad you are still on to talk of your plans.
Thank you for sharing your time with us. So glad you are healing well. I hope your recovery goes super fast so we can see all your projects come to life.
I have just picked up a lovely hard cover notebook to write what I do in my garden. thank you for being an inspiration! Love from Yurika in Denmark.
Wonderful!
Thank you for this video! It reminds me of winters in Connecticut! Similar chores and fine living!
What fun to explore your home and property. Hope your shoulder gets better soon. I know you must be anxious to be able to get all of your projects started. Just take it slow and easy for now. Good luck with the maple syrup making . That new gator will get a lot of use on your property. Have a great day.
I am pretty sure you can have new wallpaper made by scanning a section of that old paper, it is really a timeless pattern worth reviving.
What a lovely video full of diverse content. Now I need a Gator too lol. I could drive it up and down my driveway.
My beautiful home is an inner city home on a quarter of an acre only lol. But with 100 year old horse hair plaster that had been papered straight over as I learnt to my dismay when removing. I had to be so careful not to damage the fragile plaster - but I did it!!
Very much enjoyed all of this! Please take good care of yourself!
Love your choice of wall paper for the front hall. Really brightens it up!
I enjoyed this so much. You guys love your new home and the crunching snow beneath your feet. I am from Iowa so I know the sound. Your visions for your home and land is fun to watch. thanks Joyce
Hi Linda! I really enjoyed this video! Can't wait to see what happens in Spring!! Take care!
Beautiful choice of wallpaper 💙, love it☺
Beautiful green and white wall paper, not to busy 🌿
I am from northern Vermont…this was like a trip back home…love it.
Thank you for letting us visit
Glad you’re feeling better!! Loved the video & can’t wait to hear how your maple syrup turns out!
Thanks for the relaxing video. Hope you are recovering well. Can't wait to see your gardens this spring and sumner. 🍀🌱🌷⚘
LOVE the wallpaper you picked for front entrance foyer...so light and airy!
I really enjoyed the ride in the gator! Beautiful home.😊
If the wallpaper is the sage and white patterned paper, I love it! It will look beautiful in your front hallway.
It is and it arrived today!
I'm happy you are on the mend. I look forward to seeing your new wallpaper on the walls. I love your videos, thank you for posting.
The gator is cute. You have a lot of work to do that list must be petty long. When will you have a clean vehicle again. I would not be able to take it. A dirty windshield gets to me. Thank you for showing the snow storm. My paper whites bloomed. Take care Linda.
I've enjoyed a very pleasant Bit of time this Saturday afternoon here. We have a nice 72° day and I'm thinking SPRING! Hope your healing is going well and you and Ben are enjoying your new home. And of course Willow is delightful! Thank you.
Your music choices sure fit your video's..both just lovely.
I loved tagging along on your adventures, especially your excursion into the eaves of the house! So funny!! Glad you are feeling better and able to get out and about!!❤️
So glad to see a new video... Miss you and love the wallpaper
Hi Linda. Thanks for bringing us along this journey at your new old home. Makes me feel like I am being useful, somehow helping. I think it's just the way you share and speak to use! It's just lovely, excitedly waiting for the next season!!!
You are such on inspiration to enjoy during my afternoon resting! Thank you so very much! I wish you successful healing! Arlene Fitzpatrick
Thank you Arlene.
What a great idea to have a Gator for your property. I love the fact that your husband found the perfect Christmas gift for you, the small saw, although did he get it for you or for him!! I guess you both will use it!! I wonder if you ever considered doing a full restoration of your home, back to its original floor plan--without the wall at the front door, the fireplace that was removed, the dormer, etc?
Hi. We are discussing possibly putting the stairway back, but we would then lose a closet they created, which we do need. It's a catch 22. I think we are opening a wall during the kitchen remodel that will connect two spaces, but this home has been changed and added to so much that it's not possible to get it back to where she was.
So good to see you back! I love your new big green toy!
So glad to see your video. Have missed your videos! Hope you are healing well. Thank you for sharing!
Love watching your storybook videos.💕💕
Thank you Linda!! Wonderful as always 😁👋 !!
Love being in New England! Thanks for the ride!
Love the wallpaper you ultimately chose ❣
So glad you are healing well Linda. While I was watching, I was thinking of how magical your property is. It’s an every season house. Beautiful in the winter,Spring, Summer and Fall
There are so many different looking areas to your property. Lots to look forward too. My husband would love to have that gator ! Willow looks very happy in her new home.
Stay well pretty lady
Would love to see how you clean up willow and get the snow off her every time she comes in the house..
If she is really covered with ice balls, she gets a warm shower or tub followed by a towel rub otherwise she melts quickly and I'm towel drying the floors lol
Has anyone ever told you that you have lovely hands? They are very creative hands too. I'm so glad wallpaper is coming back into vogue. I love your interaction with Ben. He should join you on videos more often. The John Deere is awesome! Does the Gator have heat? I can't imagine living in so much snow and ice (I live in sunny Thomson, Georgia). It's beautiful but I know it can also be treacherous. Thank you for the lovely music in the background.
Oh thank you! Yes this gator has heat and AC, which we would not have ordered, but getting one without would have taken months longer to come in so we went for it. We've used the heat and glad we did it
