“I Got High”: President Obama Talks About His Use of Drugs

- President Barack Obama on Thursday launched his "My Brother's Keeper" initiative, urging stronger efforts to create more opportunities for young minority men and to improve conditions that keep them impoverished and imprisoned in disproportionate numbers.
In an impassioned speech, President Obama admitted he himself grew up with several issues leading him to make bad choices, including a disregard for education and "getting high”.
However, President Obama conceded the environment that he experienced growing up was "much more forgiving" and allowed for frequent mistakes as he grew. Obama also said a key to his success was the encouragement from his family and friends who pushed him to work harder.
So this is alright for our President but not for a Supreme Court member? WOW, such hypocrisy. SMH

That’s exactly what I was thinking about with Brett Kavanaghoff. As a kid he partied and drank but now that’s not acceptable but yet when Barack Obama was younger he smoke weed, did cocaine and like he said people would tell him over and over and over and he wouldn’t listen and they still keep telling him and giving him chances. Like you said total hypocrite.
Wait, are you justifying sexual abuse as a youth? Snorting cocaine, and smoking weed is no where near sexual harrasment. Now if you did a line of cocaine, and grabbed the tits of a peer, that's totally unacceptable.
Having a drug problem, and being a rapist are totally different things.

Just to add some real repercussions in a light hearted manner to kids using any substance for the purpose of getting high; I suggest listening to a pop song a few years back by Afroman called Because I got high and if you desire to recreationally use, wait until your education has been completed.

Meh, an argument to be made then would be to move the goalposts and suggest that you should be working seriously when you start your career, especially if you want to have children. I think the sweet spot to be smoking if you want to is as you’re reaching the completion of your maturity (21-25). At this age range your body is likely to be it’s most forgiving, as the speed and intensity your development has diminished with age and therefore the sacrifice would not be so great. yeah smoking in your teens will be more detrimental as you will still be developing at such a fast rate. As you reach adult hood your body is essentially a ticking time bomb for cancer, disease, injury etc.
So why put yourself at a disadvantage health-wise in your adult years by wasting the forgiving nature of your body in your peak years and choosing to smoke instead when your body is in a state of preservation (adulthood to seniority)? as opposed to smoking when I suggested (as you’re reaching the end of your body’s maturation).
