    For the cargo ships like tanker i advise to use incresed fuel capacity. I never use weapons in logistical ships because they arent fit to battles so its more efficient to save points to use it on hullmods.

      You can combo the fuel capacity with lower maintenance mod, also use the people capacity for civilian transport and increased weight on freighters

      The funniest thing about this build is that my AI ship enters the fight against 4 or more ships, it comes out of the fight with half its life and killed almost everyone.

      Shield shunt is a small price to pay in exchange for telling the AI: "Do NOT use the stupid shield on a high armor ship".

    The Shepard is my favorite early game ship due to their efficiency on all fronts. They fight, carry your stuff, and built in salvaging/survey equipment makes you money. They are easy to find on the market/black market, dirt cheap, and most d-mods don't hurt their performance. Drones are a real force multiplier in early combat. Grabbing about 3 is fantastic- between them and a wolf you can win small engagements pretty readily. That gives you 300 cargo space, 140 extra fuel capacity, more loot from salvage.

      yup Wolf + shepard early game is pretty fun as you hunt small pirate groups. The shepard only falls off when you start hitting your 30 ship limit and need to compress.

      Absolutely. On top of their logistics role, having 6 drones for PD and frigate harassment is invaluable. Combine that with salamanders on their missile slot and they just make for a solid back-line support frigate.

    One thing to note, You don't have to fill up every point on a ship. Sometimes it is better to leave some empty and get better weapons and mods. Or more Shields and Flux.

    Battlegroup XIV Legion is insane. You can pack it with 3x Heavy Needlers set to alternation and 2x Reaper Cyclone Launchers. Insane

    Thank you for the great guide! I have only one thing to add to the late game ships. Phantom has a better version of the Ground Support mod compared to the Valkyrie, the Advanced Ground Support mod. Although only has 200 crew compared to Valkyrie's 250.

      An arms dealer recently visited a colony's bar, let me order 1mil worth of ships I didn't have blueprints for, so I ordered a doom and 2 phantoms. (300% markup from your own industry orders) so I'll be looking to try out a black ops fleet. =P

    The heron class carrier I had lasted longer than any other ship I ever had on my current run, and only recently had mine destroyed after a month of play
    Don't underestimate the tiny ships. They can give you the edge to move in with your larger ships like your onslaught or paragon safely.

    I love the Apogee, I have a high intensity laser, two antimatter blaster, breach srm, Sabot medium size pod, and PD. Its not perfect, but I can tank, rip shields and armour whilst my AI officers take the opportunity to nail the kills

    I absolutely love the Wolf. When I decided to fly around as a small, high-tech fleet I had Tempests support my few destroyers, but Wolves were how I made sure the situation was under control.
    They're highly mobile interceptors able to catch up with a fleeing convoy, they are great at harassing bigger ships and they can appropriately punish an enemy if they try to look elsewhere. While two of my destroyers worked on one of the opponent ans frigates kept throwing themselves at the Tempests, each of my Wolves would be keeping one of the other destroyers occupied, alone even, or dogfight. I had the luck of getting multiple 'steady' officers with energy, mobility and ability skill buffs, it wasn't until I got overwhelmed by both fighters and drones that my Wolves started receiving damage and some were lost, with the recovery costs and removal of D-mods putting me at a loss.

    When you are a low tech fleet you don't disengage, you keep punching the other guy in the face until your fist goes through his face. Onslaughts and Dominators where my first true loves in vanilla Starsector

      I usually use Onslaught to ram the enemy and unload all my arsenal at him because he can take some damage before turning shields on.

    The remnant battle ship has really been putting in work for me, only costs 40 to deploy and the ability to teleport allows it to outmaneuver and obliterate smaller ships, and deny larger ships the ability to back off.

    The onslaught retreats forward. If you're ever getting overwhelmed you press burn drive, ram through whatever is ahead and you can vent behind the enemy lines.
    Or you can just vent while taking fire like twice before your armor runs out.

    Some stuff that you absolutely need to mention next time!
    Frigates :
    Hyperion : A late game ship that can TELEPORT anywhere, best used with an officer that has elite helmsmanship skill, or with Safety Overrides, because the teleport requires 0 flux boost.
    Lasher : A better brawler compared to the Wolf, not as mobile, but can be mixed in to your Wolf pack to beef them up.
    Tempest : The 2nd best frigate in the game (and the best in practical usage, because the hyperion costs like a Light cruiser to deploy & maintain), high flux stats, 2 free floating point defense drones, high energy focus, and very high base mobility, it costs 8 supply / DP, but later in the game this can effectively replace the wolf.
    Omen : A very fast, defensive frigate, with an EMP emitter and excellent shields, can be used to disable ships or screen bigger ships, also has high resolution sensors.
    Shade : An offensive Omen, instead of shielding you get phase, and with this you phase behind enemy ships and blow out their engines with EMP.
    Afflictor : very good in fleet settings, with the ability to amplify damage taken by enemy ships.
    Brawler (LP) or Brawler with SO: A poor man's Hyperion, with big firepower and mobility it can be a big nuisance for a little bit.
    Destroyers :
    Shrike(P): Very mobile destroyer that maintains burn 10 like a frigate, also one of the few destroyers with a medium missile slot. Excellent to be used as a flagship with frigates or be used to chase fleets. The pirate version is better, as it has a small ballistic turret, allowing a shield breaking weapon like light auto cannon, light needler, or railgun.
    Harbinger : Phase destroyer with heavy frontal firepower and ability to disable shields and phase of enemies. Makes fighting big capital ships a joke.
    Buffalo (P) : Buffalo version with shielded cargo holds, for smuggling.
    Valkyrie, Phantom : boosts ground operation effectiveness.
    Cruisers :
    Apogee : Apogee actually has somewhat lackluster firepower for a cruiser, and isn't great at brawling shield heavy ships because it lacks shield breaking weapons, the 2 rear energy turrets also can't fire to the front, so you really only have 2 small energy, 1 large energy, and 1 large missile weapon, less weapons than a Sunder destroyer and with no High energy focus. Apogee is instead good at supporting bigger ships or tanking for them, the shield was slightly nerfed in 0.95, but still one of the best in the Cruiser category.
    Doom : This ship can single handedly turn battles around or even win battles against small to medium fleets. Good with AI or player piloting. Overpowered is not even close, it's broken.
    Aurora : Essentially a Fury, but bigger, and faster, if you have the DP, definitely use this one.
    Gryphon : OUR MISSILES WILL BLOT OUT THE SUN
    Capital ships :
    Honestly, it's as you said, the capitals are pretty balanced, and none of them really stand out to me.
    Conquest : Do not put balanced weapons on both sides, put all main guns on one side, and the other side is just for PD weapons, allows you to focus fire better, both with AI or player pilot.
    Because I hear you dissing the Pather variant ships a bit, I kinda assume you haven't tried Safety Overrides yet, try it on some of your cruisers or destroyers, put Heavy Machine Guns, Assault Chainguns, or close range energy weapons like Heavy Blasters and Phase Lances, use sabot missiles.

      The Luddic Path Lashers are frickin' insane. They have over 200 speed, and with 3 Light MGs and 2 Assault cannons, their F ability tears ships to pieces. Early game, before I get Tempests, these are my go to guys for chasing down ships. 6 Lashers (coming in from both sides) and 3 Shrikes, which shrinks down to 4 Tempests and 3 Shrikes (or an alternative at that point).

    I really expected the Omen, that ship is insane sick with its EMP emitters, you will never have trouble against carriers or rocket based foes, they just get obliterated by this beauty, its quite cheap to deploy and it kills enemy shields quick, if you have a pack of 5-10 Omens there isn't much to stop you, they easyily murder even legion class ships.

      Ye, it is cool... When you can find his fucking blueprint. I've already sold 2 paragon blueprints to pirates, upgraded my fleet to mainly capitals, and fully explored half of the map.
      Looks like I have to do ziggy and use it instead.

    Played this new update for about 40 hours already. Here's my new meta:
    Fury with built-in Safety Overrides, Hardened shields and Hardened subsystems, 2 heavy blasters, 2 antimatter blasters. Maybe put on Extended Shields or Frontal Conversion.
    15 DP for this monstrosity is insane(in a good sence). I also throw in some officers with Shield Modulation and Energy Weapon Master. Tachyon lance Paragon as flagship for big battles (melting stuff with lances brings me immense satisfaction).
    Bullying buffed [REDACTED] feels so good now.
    Building in Safety Overrides seems to be the most op thing now. Tho I would not recommend putting SO on frigates if you lack the Wolfpack Tactics skill.

    One of my favorite strategies is bringing in a group of Atlas MK II ships and just a TON of gremlins, afflictions, wolves, and enforcer class ships - enforcers with annihilaters, wolves stuffed with reapers, and phase ships with ion weapons and anti-matter cannons.
    The guns from the atlas ships will protect them from anything getting close, and the wolves will reaper anything vulnerable whilst phase ships making the enemies more vulnerable.

    I love shrike destroyers, they are fast suprisingly strudy if you build in bulkheads and heavy armor ( I build those in all my combat ships) heavy blaster suprisingly good and 3 ion blasters can keep most enemies disabled, for medium missle I'm torn betwen anihilator and anti shield ones.
    2 shrikes are able to tear down most cruisers.
    And most importantly they tear apart those god damn Lumens and phase ships short of [super redacted].
    As for onslaught did you ever try going Soviet?
    {Build in: bulkheads, heavy armor, targeting unit} Shield shunt+ resistant flux conduit = 100% emp resistance FU [super redacted], armored weapon mounts, insulated engines, aux thrusters to tun like a frigate, and solar shielding to screw energy weapons even more.
    3 storm needlers, 1 dual flak canon (front midle slot) heavy mauler in rest of the slots, pilums in missle slots( belive me they are good) lmg in all small slots.
    Reckless oficer named Angry Ivan: Helmsmanship, Target Analysis, !Impact Mitigation ELITE! Gunnery Implants, Damage Control.
    Commander traits: Derelict Contingent (YES it is completly broken!),Special Modifications.
    Here is what happens: Biggest weaknes of onslaught is its shield, it takes damage flux goes up, AI stops shooting to reduce flux, AI gets flux locked and dies like a moron.
    NOW THERE IS NO SHIELD and you are immune to EMP there is no stoping the PAIN No overloads, no venting, Nothing can stop the DAKKA, and reckless oficer will makes sure to get up close and personal.
    The one who will overload is any idiot that turns on shields when in range of this thing.
    But it will eventualy die you say? Good it was the plan, with 5 d-mods you get 75% chance tor reduce dmg by 90% (you are star fortress now) 50% less crew lost, 15% more combat redines AND best one +25% minimum armor value with means the even torpedoes can deal only 15% dmg to you.
    With litle bit of luck on d-mods single onslaught can tear down lvl3 space station but why get only one when your deployment cost is lover than destroyer thanks to all those d-mods.

    Thank you for the informative guide. I paused this video several times to copy down your ship loadouts (e.g. capacitors, vents, hull mods). Really gave me a place to start theorycrafting my loadouts. You might consider a longer video on theorycrafting for beginners - the nuts and bolts of balancing specific strategy against strategies for general application

    For the Conquest I recommend having a damage-oriented broadside on one side of the ship and PD on the other side. You don't even need to fill up all the slots on it if you play carefully and have some escorts with you. Extended and Hardened shields, maneuvering jets. Even missiles are optional but Hurricane MIRV is a good one to use and maybe some torpedoes on the damaging side.

      I personally use only conquests, and i use them as a distraction supported by drovers while i fly around and destroy everything. I equip the conquests with the highest ranged weapons possible which are the gauss cannons and hypervelocity drivers and an ion beam only on one side and leave the other side empty. As for missiles i use MIRV and harpoon MRM. The rest of the OP is used on mods. All in all this ship with its system is fast enough to keep distance from large ships and strong enough to not let small ships approach. As for the drovers i just put sparks and salamander missiles. And i must say i only ever lose ships when they get cornered, they hold very well outnumbered as usual. I only ever brought 4 conquests and 4 drovers against an ordo fleet + my flagship ofc.

    The best AI ship is actually Radiant. And now you can have him in your fleet!
    After they nerfed Recall device and increased DP cost for Astral, i no longer feel like its better then Legion, since Legion can do a lot of things on his own (especially XIV) and not be a bomber one trick that dies to frigates.
    Also, you haven't mentioned Prometheus mk.II with Auxiliary support skill and built-in Assault package (without militarized subsystems, since those make skill give lesser bonuses). It becomes slightly tankier than onslaught while having fighter wings and more flexible heavy weapons loadout, also it's cheaper to field.

      Tempest frigates with Ion Pulsers and Ion Cannons are the best way to chase down any ships fleeing/escaping. Just come in from the sides and wreck them.

    i am bad at piloting the hammerhead so i use a centurion till i get an apogee, then from there i wait for a TT bounty to get a paragon

    Sunder is probably my favorite to pilot, but I have a lot of fun with Legion as well. Although with how much harder battles are this patch... I've lost more Legions than ever before.

    Also on the Conquest I like to have one side of the ship for long range attacks and the other for PD. Then Fill it up with mods. It works well with accelerated shields, and Point defense AI. It is fast manuervable and can chew through cruisers and destroyers. Also good armor.

    7/10 - Nice suggestions. The three point deductions are: 1) Mora OP, full mora fleet kills anything in the game, they do not go down at all due to their subsystem. 2) Tachyon fetish, try with some autopulse lasers as well, with increased magazine size! Similar purpose and range, more bursty. 3) Obligatory shaming for not making a broadside build for the conquest, really shines if you save points on one side and max out the other.

      3 is spot on and how I run mine however his point of it being squish and the AI getting it killed stands, to many times in the AI's hands it dies due to them thinking they should sit themself in the middle of everything.
      I am not a big fan of having to micromanage big ships.

      @@benjaminclement8437 Weird, I rarely control my ships manually and have had no issues. Two large gauss and it just seems to do its thing, sniping from afar and whatnot. Maybe your pilot had an aggressive personality? Mine often survives better than the paragon.
      Secret 1000 hour pro strat: Buffalo Mk.II with makeshift hangar, with skills maxed they can be lowered to cost 2 deployment points = cheapest drone wings in the game! Can even fit pilum LRM on top, & with that cost they can be deployed alongside basically anything, meaning your other ships don't need hangars & can focus on beef.

    With 3 fury doing the shield melting, the conquest does the rest. If you go with furys don't go with the Paragon. The conquest can follow the speed of the fury, can keep you burn speed on the 18-20 and it's only 40 points .

    Odysseys with mega pulse and extended magazines has shocking firepower, I highly recommend trying it out, it makes the ship a real hunter killer. Far more deadly in normal fights, a little less deadly in large capital fights.

    I recommend the Harbinger-class Phase Destroyer. I put 3 phase lances on it with advanced optics. The AI struggles to know when to engage but almost never gets itself killed. I can't think of a destroyer that can handle it.

      @@Uran92 Nah just one or two. I've taken Dooms out with it. The Harbinger is a beast! It's special ability can take off phase and shield for a moment and really get you a sweet apha strike. I get that you almost running nothing but capital ships, but try it out when you get the chance. You will not be disappointed. It's not too steep on deployment cost either, you can definitely sneak it into almost any fleet combination.

    Champions are suuuper reliable. Literally nothing holds the line better other than a tougher capital like the fourteenth battleground legions (and a few centurions, I guess). They can tank quite a bit, they're slow so they tend to solo less, and they have kickass firepower and a good mix of weapons. Perhaps the one ship that can be trusted to hold the line very well. Dominator might have more firepower, better missiles, and can hull tank better but it also is slower to turn and has burn drive so you'll just know it'll make questionable use of it, pretends to be a solo ship, and get swarmed when AI'd. I like and use both but I find Champions are just more reliable overall.
    Totally agree with your point about the conquest too. Sure conquest does not have the concentrated firepower or tankiness of an onslaught, and they're worse against stations too. But it has speed, and it can disengage from the battle, and it doesn't get flanked like a bitch like onslaught does. (See former point about dominators.) Also you can do two sides of different large kinetics so you can switch from kinetic to anti-armor when needed. Nothing kites better than a conquest with 2 gauss cannons. AI vs AI that build can beat most onslaughts if it keeps range - and it can do that. They are also very good against several smaller ships (as long as it's not too many ships), though you need another build than the kiting conquest for it. I use them with fourteenth battleground legions and they work very well as battlecruisers with the much tougher and slower legions that can hold the line better.

    Eradicator with hyper vel drivers / heavy maulers and 3 railguns, integrated targeting unit + all vents, few capasitors you won't need them.
    Litterally this thing can beat any bounty fleet and any reminents (if you have 6 eradicators) without the reminent battleship

    Go try the SO Champion with Hardened Subsystems + Hardened Shields (all three built in) + Expanded Magazines, 4x AMB, 3x Ion Pulser and some PD Lasers. It kills everything in it's 4 minutes of glory

    Don't forget you can easily find derilict Legion and its variant in game. Easy capital ship. Just really hard to keep afloat financialy.

    enforcer is good mid game i made a build that allows it to destroy cruisers under a.i control without taking hull damage
    the build is 4 annihilators and 2 vulcan point defenses 2 thumpers 1 heavy autocannon hull mods are shield shunt, heavy armor, armored weapon mounts and if you have enough ordinance points put safety override if not then spread ordinance points on flux

    I just use 5-15 odysseys since the other capital ships are just too slow, all with hullmods that maximize range. Just tactical lasers, tachyon lances, harpoons, and the kinetic large missile. Sparks for incidental point defense.

    for the tankers and the cargo ships (atlas) I use militarized hull, the increased fuel capacity (for the tankers), and increased cargo (for cargo ships) mod and the efficiency mod and I didn't put weapons because in general I'm not taking them to battle.
    for the salvage ships I use survey and sensor mods

    if you want to play astral then just go full 6x trident Bomber, they are all anti armor BUT its still enaugh to fill even capital shipp flux and then you just reset and do a second run (from cloase range) get onslaughts make them rush enemy and then use astral to go close and spam bomber runs
    second "if onslaught gets overloaded it dies" wrong , it does not die , not with 2k armor and full armor skills comander

    OK, 1st I'm new to the game and probably haven't progressed past the beginning stage, I think; only level 6. So I like your video but I sure would look to know where I can get my hands on some of these.
    The low tier ships are easy enough. I just put an Onslaught in storage... too slow for me.

    I believe that in this video the heavy cruiser Dominator was undeservedly ignored, and after all, with the right configuration, it is able to dust all ships equal to itself in size and smaller, while causing huge problems to heavier ships even under the control of artificial intelligence

    Omen is objectively the best frigate in the game. It has absurd campaign-layer stats, 10 burn and tiny sensor profile, it has high resolution sensors that let you see further, it has ECM and ECCM built in, it has 15k or so shield hp, it's the second fastest frigate in the game. It has arguably the second best ship systems for killing fighters, second to doom mines. All of that? 5 deployment points.
    The single thing an Omen cannot do, is duelling. But, a ship with ECCM (10% max missile speed, 100% accel) and a reaper, a buttload of hp, an antimatter blaster to guarantee it being threatening to the ship AI, that guarantees all fighters nearby die to pd, is stupid fast, and gives the same amount of sensor strength as an apogee is an absurdly good deal.

    On Odyssey I disagree.
    My Fav build on it:
    2x Plasma Accelerator in large energy turrets (left)
    1x Tactical Laser (so you can have the AI control the plasma cannons)
    2x Spark Interceptors (Remnant)
    Front Shield Conversion
    Stabilized Shields
    Hardened Shields
    Auxilliary Thrusters
    Insulated Engine Assembly
    The Interceptors are REALLY good point defense system.
    Plasma Accelerators chew through a lot of stuff fast. I use these as a 'lever' with Paragon as 'anchor' and SO-Hammerheads as fast support.

    Putting a tach lance on a sunderer just eats up too much flux, and it's a rare weapon anyways. Autopulse laser, on the other hand, the ai can easily make that work just as well, and it does hard flux damage.

    conquest is my favourite for sure as well. its like steering naval ship in a space game, its amazing :D.

    You are wrong sir, the Hammerhead works well into the mid game and remains fun do do hit and run tactics with late game.
    Just put Safety Overrides, dual Assault Chainguns and a pair of Sabot launchers on it and you are set for the whole game.

    I can't believe you missed Hyperion. Literally like, the most condensed firepower in the game. Hyperion with triple Ion Pulser is my favorite meta. Extremely mobile, very high damage, large shield coverage, made even more mobile and deadly by Elite Helmsmanship skill, letting you phase teleport at any time. Testing I've done has shown 3 of these little monsters can close in, corner, and rip apart capital ships with ease.
    I'm not sure I can count this as a good list if you didn't include the deadliest frigate-sized ship in the game.

    You find so many legions while exploring, i've even found 2 with 2 built in hull mods. Got 3 sitting in colony storage. xD
    So its quite viable to squish some station bounties from pirates or luddites also for dom motherships without as much worry for preserving them.
    With only having 30 ships in your fleet without penalty and being able to deploy maybe 150 points at a time (unless you edit the game settings) it is definitely worth the player's time to figure out what gives them the most value. Though for some late game fights it can be a bit of a meat grinder.

    I can tell you why people prefer the odyssey. The most infuriating part of the game is when one of your own ships flies between you and your target. Especially during critical moments in the fight. In any other ship the only satisfying course of action is to blast your own ship into pieces. However with the odyssey you have the option of using your special ability to ram the other ship out of the way. A solution to the problem that is effective, satisfying and less harmful to your own fleet.

      Well hmm ... I do like them the least. But that is my style ... I like quality over quantity ... for example I hate D-mods so even if it is not worth it I repair the ship. But gameplay vise ... I think they are good :D .... mby some lower tiers are but stinky.

    Conquest always had trouble vs remnant fleets, but now in 0.95 with the ridiculous remnant fleet captains and ecm, this thing only dies.

    Sunder has pretty poor flux/shield dmg ratio. So, i prefer Medusa-sensei.
    Never had any problems with crew space. Even without Bulk transport. Even when i need extra 1000 people to start a colony. Even having 1200 marines on the board, doing nothing.
    Two problems with Apogee: 1) you need good missile launcher to start doing things, and 2) shitty angles of forvard looking mounts. But i need to admit: it is capable of sustaining Plasma, so, it is still a good ship.
    Champion is great ship. I like it a lot. But. 1) Poor flux stats (as for 25 DP ship), 2) Shitty shield arc, and you cant fix it, and you dont have free OP to even put extended shields, 3) Paper engines will break every time and make you mad, 4) Ability works only 3 seconds, 5) No movement ability. Also: put energy weapons into medium mounts to make use of ability. And yes, the ship has awesome armor. Weaker than Dominator, but Dominator is a clumsy bucket of bolts, and Champion is a good battle ship.
    I m using Heavy blasters on Fury, it still does its job. Also, you can swap one for Pulse laser, it is better when dealing with frigates. Also: Systems expertise gives this ship a lot.
    Bulk transport adds +1 to burn of non-militarized ships, so, you can install expanded cargo holds and surveying equipment. I have 5 supplies cost for survey of any planet except for some gas giants now.
    Shiled conversion is not mandatory on the Paragon. I thought about it, because there is literally no other ways to give it more dissipation, but i ended with extra capacitors, because this shield rotates too slow, and sometimes you need to block something on the flank. I m using 7 PD weapons (2 of them of medium size), and it is still not enough sometimes. Also i wanna mention: Paragon was kinda nerfed in 9.5. Because: 1) 0-flux boost works different now, and Paragon is very slow. I had no problems with turquoise AI-clan in 9.1, but now i cant catch Radiant if he decides to blink away and vent there, 2) New feature of Build-in hullmods benefits mostly the lighter capitals, because they have less OP. I have only 2 build-in mods on my Paragon right now, because all other mods are either too cheap to make em build-in or expensive, but i not sure that i ll want to keep those as build-in (like Heavy armor).
    Imo, two Tach lances on Odyssey are strange. They dont do enough pressure to deal with the problem that beams apply soft flux. Missiles are no go also, becase you can perform infinite (almost, because of PPT, but i never had any problems with it in this version) fights, so, you dont want limited weapons. I m using one medium breach missile launcher and thats it. Also: you need Aux Thrusters, since you are broadside-type (just try to put em in simulation and run around the Onslaught, he will not be able to turn fast enough to catch you), and you need Hardened shields because you dont want to tank dmg with armor. I m using two plasma and 5 IR pulse lasers. Also Systems expertise and Energy weapon mastery. Also Unstable injector, maximum vents and some caps. This dude can solo some remnant fleets and do 1v1 some Radiants (but you need to be extremely precise when using ability or timing venting).
    Most important mod in the game is Shiled conversion - front. Because it makes Fury, Aurora and Odyssey 2 times stronger =)

      I totally forgot that Champion can put energy weapons in the medium slots. My hate for medium energy medium weapons is that bad ... :D .hmm mby with the energy skill ,,, we could put close range high burst energy weapons and with the ability melt faces off.. I have to play with the odysey more and will change the build like you said. And yeah the crew space part ... as I do right now a lot of fighting and raiding the crew just dies way to often so I like to have bit extra

      @@Uran92 I carry 200-500 extra crew (sometimes little more if i expect to recover some trophy ship). I dunno what actually changed in this version, but without marines i never used more than 50% of my crew capacity. Maybe Champions have so much, idk... Ah! Maybe it is because of my fleet composition. When i used Conquest and Legion, they required a lot of crew.

    Its a bit useless to dicuss ships without their usage. For example in early game manual piloted sunder with tachyon lance will shread half of enemy fleet. In late game its not the best choice to take sunder in fleet at all. Its weak pont defense systems will dig its grave as deep as much fighters and missiles you will see in grid. Falcons, eagles, dominators and other trash cruisers will be usefull till late mid game because champions and gryphons will do their job while trash cuisers will be dead\be flying around and do nothing with pew-pew sound\slowly drift towards enemy behind yor fleet. Carriers can be used in two ways. Defensive carriers just protect your fleet from enemy bombers and its realy rare situation when you need more than two-three wings from condors/dovers even in late game when you will use doom instead. Offensive carriers require bomber wing spamming. In early game condor spam is a verry effective strategy. In mid game you will need some moras to take damage and some afflictors for zoning. In late game you can swap to double\triple astral fleet. Single astral is a good way to waste 40-50 points. Two-three astrals is a good way to blap heavy ships. This fleet requires 3-6 light ships to prevent enemy from engaging your core ships. Also its not the best way to mix dooms with small ships\carriers. Flanking\boardside captal ships is not the best idea. First one will work if other enemy fleet is already dead and you have space for flanking in your huge heavy thingy. Second one will increase incoming damage to deal some damage. You still can turn it with undamaged side but you have only one shield for both sides.
