      i dig im late here but u probably want to edit the files to allow more player skills for a fun time in the late game, maxing out the player plant lvl cap, upping the findable officer lvls and putting tweaks on the base game settings to make it a little more fun... reloading to try get the ships you want is no fun... its futuristic i dont see why the rate of capturing ships that werent obliterated being so damned low... anyways be well brothers sisters ect...

    Important tip: there are two combat playstyles. First one is a big fleet buffed with many leadership skills, officers and requires smart orders. Second one is a small fleet centered on you. In this variant you deal the most damage to enemy fleet, while your friends just creating some pressure in important points.
    So, the tip: if you want to fight a lot, but you cant handle all the stuff - put all weapon groups on autofire with exception of missiles (or some specific weapons like Tachyon lance). And use "shift button" which literally make your ship face the point where you move your mouse. Makes combat way easier. Also... dont use shift if you piloting broadside ship, like Odyssey.

    • @JimJamTheAdmin
      @JimJamTheAdmin 3 роки тому +9

      And don't forget to mention you can actually switch the toggle from movement system from broadside to cursor permanently in the settings menu. Allowing you to use the Shift key to switch from cursor to broadside, which is more useful I think.

    Very important tip for avoiding making a HUGE mistake. Seems obvious in hindsight but when you sell duplicate blueprints and blueprint packages for those sweet high credit trades the faction controlling the station you’re selling to CAN AND WILL USE THEM! This means you can accidentally sell a duplicate paragon or high tech blueprint package to pirates and then start getting obliterated as they will start manufacturing those bad boys after a few in game years. My tip if you still want to sell them is to sell to the independents, because they barely have any fleet manufacturing and you’ll probably max out your relationship with them through the academy missions. Once they start using those designs you sell them if they have a high enough relationship with you they can start helping you in battles and raids against your colonies if they so happen to be around.

    • @Killzad
      @Killzad 2 роки тому +9

      Or you can just do that sell them to your biggest enemy so he brings those ships to fight and you can retrieve them for free after battle.

      As far as I know, only Pirates do that. I could see if Luddic Path and Independents did as well, but the "major" factions (Hegemony, Tri-Tach, Church, and Diktat) already use exactly the ships and weapons they want so they don't use blueprints

    A good tip I've learned is that you should always keep a few very fast ships in your fleet for capturing objectives in larger battles. I used to think that Falcon (P) ships were enough for a mobile force but they are more like your first line as they will be the first to catch up to your fast-movers. Anyway, those 3-4 fast frigates you chose instead of a cruiser or capital will pay their own dividends by being quick to capture those objective points in battle. These are very important as the bonus' you get aren't just a small increase to fleet speed or weapon range, they also gain you certain amounts of deployment points to bring in more ships (this assuming you don't mod the game to make this irrelevant). Capture with the frigates, hold with light cruisers that are reasonably fast like the Falcon (P) I mentioned. Once your frigates have done their jobs and you have a strong lead on objectives you can call in reinforcements plus another cruiser or two if you have your frigates retreat.
    A good way to do this is take a couple of Tempests and give them Safety Overrides for the extra speed and dissipation. Their medium weapons and built-in fighters will give them a nice advantage over their direct competition and their insane speed with the overrides mean they can outrun just about anything other than fighters. Now, they won't have the best staying power once the bigger ships move in and also have much reduced peak operating time but they aren't meant to stay in the fight long anyway. They are simply to gain tactical advantage early in the fight.
    A high tech fleet might also take advantage of phase frigates to do this as they are also very fast (except for the Gremlin) and can usually outmatch other frigates simply by avoiding damage.

      Yeah great point! I should have been there with other tips, right now capturing the points is essential!

  • @xzardas541
    @xzardas541 3 роки тому +35

    My tip: armor and hullpoints do not matter unless your ship is literal spacestation.
    Shields and mobility are most important stat in the game, it does not matter if you pilot an onslaught of you are swarmed by enemies and overloaded in seconds.
    Odyssey can kite around and deafeat whole mothership ecounter while onslaught or even paragon will get swarmed and die.
    This is common mistake of new players thinking that being tough does something more than making you die slightly slower.
    Another common mistake is going over your flux disipation when instaling weapons, it does not matter how big your guns are if you can not fire them more than 3 seconds and then get overloaded on single shield hit and then eat hammer barrage to the face, puting smaller weapons is often better than filling big slots with only big weapons, it not only saves your flux but also ordinance points that you can use to get more flux and better shields.

    • @ahmataevo
      @ahmataevo 3 роки тому +3

      For high-flux low dissipation, that can be countered somewhat by using only burst-fire weapons like antimatter blaster, if a frigate's gonna overload when it fires anyway, might as well make the most of it. It can be mitigated by flux-dissipation conduits, or alternatively safety overrides but then the focus is either to finish the fight quickly or hit them down to where you can retreat, engage, hit retreat until won.

    • @xzardas541
      @xzardas541 7 місяців тому +1

      @@momom6197 As fun as invictus is in 1v1 fights it ends up swarmed and dies like any other ship out there.
      And just look at how slow this thing is! both in and out of combat not to mention that you need starliner loaded with crew to make it last for more than 2 battles.
      And I tried, realy tried to make this ship work, but in the end it does not matter that you can kill onslaught on single burst when you have 2 briliants chewing your butthole and you cant turn.

    Some general tips about fleet composition for battles:
    Ships should have porpuses. A long range carrier needs only point defense and some weapon to deter frigates. LR PD's are perfect as they allow the carrier to also protect other ships.
    Flux is life. Tank ships should max their flux decipation and shield effeciency, armor is there for when that fails.
    Generalist ships are best for the AI. Preferably ones that can survive a few mistakes. Aggressive officers should have tanky ships, cautious officers should have carriers. Reckless officers should be avoided.
    Each battle capture point awards CP. Meaning if you just camp a corner of the map the enemy will outnumber you heavily. Com Relays specially award a lot of CP like easily a capital's worth. Having a couple of frigates or fast ships to capture those points early is essential to not be outnumbered.

    Tutorial does indeed give you a head start.
    Free hammerhead salvage during the ship graveyard part.
    More story points since you doing tutorial.
    And for me at least I acquired 3 AI cores from the probe salvage. Rare, but you can get multiple.
    But be aware that even with the hammerhead the fight with the miners to open the jump gate was still a challenge. If you struggling with that then you might be best off just sneaking past.

    • @DaniRadriendil
      @DaniRadriendil 6 місяців тому

      The gate guards are stronger than you and they know it, so take advantage of their hubris! Once they spot you, they'll chase you. Lead them back towards the planet and the Hegemony fleet will start chasing *them*. With some fancy flying and good timing, you can force the fight with a dozen cruisers at your back.
      Just be sure to get some hits in, if you let the NPCs do all the damage, they won't give you a cut of the salvage.

    My buddies for my last session are high ranked pirates on " useful" factions colonies. One very high ranked pirate(smuggler) has given to me till now Onslaughts for a bite of bread,and Goliaths..I parked em ..at an abandoned station.
    Pirates are very useful. Actually what I did on my last session was to become friend with the pirates before the creation of my first colony. Game became a lot easier..:).
    But..I had to learn how to do their missions..I worked with small buckets a lot to have low sensor signature,so I was able to pick pirate missions fast.. I wasted points also for some of em ..but finally worthed all the effort.
    I can repair at pirate stations plus all their bases are ready to empty my crap,plus.. no problem for my colonies..I have 2 right now..and I do not waste time with these guys. .
    Pirate contacts are very powerful for many reasons when they are on not pirate planets :)
    There is always a very high ranked pirate somewhere ... If he is at a tritacheon or hegemony..or ..any strong clan..well...you can have all factions ships pretty fast .
    Sensor relays when they exist...civilian hulls on our ships ..big ships...are bad to please these guys as they require in many of the missions they require surgical precision and playing stealthy. Phase ships are good to do stealth missions.
    Sometimes it might be good even to waste points to strike stealthy ,or speak to patrols... eventually pirate contacts will pay you..in many aspects.. 110.000 credits for an onslaught or an astral carrier...or 250.000 for a paragon..things I have achieved with pirate contacts. I rarely build my own ships from my colonies after that update.
    I try to become the master of stealth and thievery for that session and I must admit it goes pretty well.
    I miss that raid income sometimes :)but.. there are plenty of targets around to raid anyway.
    At start of this meta I was very sceptic if a cooperation with the pirates was possible at early game...and I found out that in a couple of hours with a fleet of buckets yes they can provide .. so much ...that you cannot handle their love.
    What I want to say about their abilities as contacts is a huge chapter. A good high ranked smuggler can give you for example for heavy armaments production 65.000 per month for a colony. An arm's dealer is also awesome for weapons and ships of various types but he is expensive.. (money is not a problem in this game) . Many pirates works with other faction high ranked Contacts..when they say..go there are cheap transplutonic pickup...you will possibly pick it up by somebody who is not a Pirate. Usually that transplutonic stack is what that colony needs... where the pirate is at.
    When I need some money ..I visit my contacts.when I need ships from a faction I go there every month till I find a cool pirate. The more pleased the pirate .the more happy I will be..sooner or later.
    About the Galatia missions my tip to do it without breaking your pace of the game is to pick up only essential story missions and extraction missions, VIP escorting...etc...etc.. go with big fleet..visit the person he will ask you for a price.. that was not the deal...threaten him..and do the mission without any bloodshed and with profit. ;) So I advice to visit always with a strong fleet. These missions are close to the system and till you go back to the academy the month will pass ..and the next month's missions will appear..that way the story missions will take 75% less time as you do not have to go to deep space which is time costly and boring plus. You will miss the fun playing the pimp all around.
    Very nice video URAN ,very informative and it was missing from the community. Also your videos is a true Starsector show. This game has soul.

      @@Uran92 pirates is the only faction of the game that they will never send expedition to you when they like you.!! They does not require for you to be commissioned with them and when you are cooperative with them it is enough for them to defend all your colonies creating beautiful carpets of supplies all around.. They also offer all their military things..plus you can repair ,refit your ships at their bases. Pirates also they will merch with your bases. Before you become cooperative with them a sigh might appear that pirate activity is at your planets.. that effect is not permanent..they are simply there to merch..and the sign will disappear instantly .When you become cooperative this sign will not appear at all and you will see a message that pirate activity is not affecting your colonies at all..(it was not affecting anyway as a friend ). Cooperative is a lot better remember that ,they will die for your colonies against enemy fleets. Also pirates attacks all factions because they have terrible trading .. So... when you are letting em to merch... your bases will be fully supported by them and the best thing is the BLACK MARKET!! the definition of black market.. Your incomes from black market will sky-rocket , Drugs..So.. when you plan to be a friend with pirates it is cool to have as many light industries as possible . Also for your late game they are awesome because they are everywhere. You will invade enemy strong territory as you will have a base there to repair . Also they do not care at all if you are doing brutal things to the enemies. They are the best for me . They are the true independent of the game. Always keep transponder OFF when you enter their bases. This is the only race of the game that no transponder means a true Pirate. When you use transponder ON they will care if you use their normal market or black market. Pirates is a philosophy and they can provide to you a very calm session without many fights or an extreme violent game against everybody. When you are involved with contacts you will see that tritacheon for example are extremely bloodthirsty ,pirates offer a variety actually 3 paths .. the path of the smuggler or the path of the thief and finally the path of the raider. They also hate luddic path. Luddic path is something else... because you cannot use black market .. they are very dangerous and sub humans as they do not like progression and technology. When you are involved with the Pirates trust me .. it is another game. I enjoy changing roles for each of my session. You do not need anything.. zigurat,gates,mods ,anything that can rush your session.. you will enjoy 100% this cooperation . They also do not take cores but for an experienced player like you it will be a piece of cake to be a friend with them. It is obvious that your session will be a lot slower as you have to forget about commissions to any clan.. Also where you attack ... they will follow. actually they offer a unique experience of the game. Pirates keeps me on this game ;) I cannot be bored of this game. Also they will offer Marines... and many things as long as your colonies will be richer and inevitable the pirates will become more "civilized".

  • @brilobox2
    @brilobox2 3 роки тому +10

    Don’t sell blueprints on black markets (any BM anywhere) unless you want the pirates to start using them. You can safely sell bps on ANY open or military market ANYWHERE and no faction will get them. Even bps sold on pirate open or military markets will not let the pirates get them.
    The opposite holds true for industry boosting items. If the market can use the item in one of their industries, it will be instantly incorporated if sold on their open or military market (but NOT the black market, includes pirates too and a nanoforge on a pirate world heavy industry will boost all pirate fleets everywhere AND raiders spawned by the market). Use this to boost up your own faction, or a market you want to by lots of stuff from, or to help an ally.

    During the tutorial, you are allowed to run around the starting sector with transponder off AND unhindered by patrols. Use this time to buy and sell drugs to the miner base. It's an easy way to acquire hundreds of thousands of monies ;) , weapons and ship mods.
    Buy drugs
    Sell drugs, buy organs
    Sell organs, buy drugs
    Just remember at the pirate miner base to sell on the black market.

    caps lock enables and disables 2x speed ,dont need to hold mouse button :) When choosing commanders for ships look for their personality ,you dont want reckless or to scared pilots ,althought agressive or reckless are good in some ,like the wolfs /teleporting ships .
    And on beggining dont drive around with you tons of crew if you not ready to colonise a planet .They eat a lot money monthly .Better pay it for commanders .

    A big one I dont see here is always have a good supply of weapons and stash them somewhere. Having a trash fleet because of lack of available weapons is really annoying. By the time I found my first colony I usually have around 20-60 of each weapon type incase I need to change or refit a fleet.

    Here is my tip.
    Did you get an officer but they don't have the right personality for you?
    Too aggressive? You can use 1 story point to level up that officer 10% faster and change their personality slightly.
    WARNING. A reckless officer can only be made aggressive. Since you can only move their personality by 1 point they will still be engaging the enemy, like they were a free all you can eat buffet.
    Also when it comes to officers, it s a good idea to keep them at level 1 or level 2 if you don't have much money.
    Their paycheck goes up each time you level them up.

    But Im feeling a little exhausted following your speech and overacting all the time. In my opion you would perform better if ud be more like yourself ( not like a guy with a nose full of something) and use the overacting lesser and more pointed when u feel like it fits in.
