These SF figures from Square Enix especially this Akuma looks fantastic; however, I still think the best looking Street Fighter figures produced were the ones by Sota Toys. The proportions and detail on those were on point.
I owned this figure a long time ago, but eventually got rid of it, so I decided to look up reviews to reminisce. It really is shocking how much improvement we've seen over the years, because this guy looks all kinds of wonky and doesn't have the wide, squat and bulky frame that this SFIV version of Akuma should have, especially around the waist and neck. At least he's got lots pf paint and texturing on his gi. It really is a shame because the IV design is my favorite look for Akuma, as having the wraps around his arms looks a lot less ill-fitting for an ascetic demonic warrior than having him rock prestine martial arts gloves.
For me personally, The body mold is so ugly, and the head is worst. Just compare it with other Akuma, it will looks like an idiot one. Play arts ruins one most badass beast. But still, Play arts did a great job with Metal gear, but i'm not a fan of this one. Great review by the way.
Thanks for the review Anthony. I'm looking to get into the SF figure collecting scene and i'm thinking of starting with the Play Arts Kai series (The Sota ones look awesome too). To my knowledge, the only currently available characters are Ryu, Akuma, Guile, Chun-Li, Cammy and Ibuki. Is this correct? I've read that Ken and Sakura will be available around September, but do you know if there are any plans to produce Blanka and/or Balrog? I just subscribed. Great channel, thanks for the content :)

I wonder if this figure would make for a good base for a Zodd the Immortal figure from Berserk
i think i see the problem with the open hands the wrist pegs on your figure is upside down the smooth side has to be on the inside

Great review as always...Not my favorite Akuma though...
Not bad especially those accessories for the fireball but Storm Collectibles still makes the most accurate figure for Akuma...
This look nicer than neca. the price is also nicer!
EVIL AKUMA!!!! I'm getting this one!!
would you say he'ld fit in with sota figures?
Do you still have your play arts kai figures for sale (street fighter)
I hope vega coming soon
Is it original?
I have the white one
+† DRED † So do I its amazing
† DRED † isnt it shin akuma
His head is uuuuugly man.... wth did they do? What's with all the darkness on his face?
Its based on the face of Street Fighter 4. So its almost a match to it. It is not your traditional Akuma face.
I was thinking about purchasing this, but he looks way too deformed, and his arms looks like he is on Synthol. Sota is just way better...
cammy
Klingon akuma...
GARBAGE
Play arts sucks at making figures seeing sota n resaurus figures n the looking at these they dnt even compare pa sculptors suck ass
