OMG! Such a realistic efficiency/cost review about infinity opened my eyes finally!!! Infinity runeword just dropped down on the list of my priorities for runewords down down down....
if you play a lightening character it should be near the top. . . very few things infinity doesn't break. . and most lightening builds do have some sort of alternative dmg. . . . now the boon infinity gives, is non lightening immune monsters. . say something has 80 resistances.
in this case a 10k lightening trap will do 2k dmg . . however with infinity it'll do 10k (so 5 times the damage). . . if it's a 50%. you'd do 5k normally. but 13k after infinity (-30ish). more than double. . . infinity value shouldn't be entirely on breaking immunes. but also on dramatically increasing kill speed of non lightening immunes to an obsurd level. Additionally. 40% crushing blow on a merc's weapon will murder targets who are on the higher end of the spectrum of light immune.
e.g. a merc with infinity, treachery, and an ias jeweled andariels visage. will kill a light immune in seconds off physical damage alone. . . if it's a boss, it's even better.
It's pretty great against all but a very few high immunity monsters. That said most builds have an alternative damage option, even then if you're not playing a Sorc those Ber runes can go into a lot of BIS gear on your actual character. Namely Enigma, even Chains of Honor, Beast, or the immense trading value of the rune. That said if you're rich Infinity is still a hella nice feather in your cap. It's not the holy grail, but it's still a real nice item.

The big takeaway is that yes, there is an item that gives you Conviction, but it's not as good as just having a Paladin with Conviction. Which is probably as it should be, right?
@@raycearcher5794 that is how it should be yes. but that said, you don't always have a paladin with conviction aura around. . . and most paladin builds don't even use conviction (tesladin/vengence being the only 2 that come to mind. . and tesladin is the most expensive build in the game i believe). . . . that aura is extremely good for kill speed.
@@zachb8012 imo if you're using a lightening sorc this should be the first major purchase. as conviction aura isn't replaceable by any other item. where most of your big mf items aren't that much stronger than budget variations.. . . even a trap sin or javazon this should be the first expensive item. . enigma can be offset with a teleport amulet/circlet. and costs roughly the same as infinity. . the overall killspeed this gives you, dramatically offsets any gain teleport has for those 2 builds. . . a weapon swap vigor bow for the javazon. and burst of speed for the sin. . . and with the area's they farm, 2-3 teleport charges on neck/circlet/staff is all they need. frw they get naturally rivals enigma speed as is. . . for me, it's better than chains of honor (barely stronger than smoke), enigma (if you aren't rushing through hell on hammerdin, or something where tele is near mandatory for aiming skillshots well like a storm druid. . tele charges are all you need).

I don't think Mal and Ist are expensive, even though they're not that common.
Having invested a considerable amount of time in this game, I found a good amount of items that were worth Mal and Ists. Anything beyond that, however...
I was also extremely lucky to find a 4os Ethereal G.Poleaxe (in Hell cows) and a Ber when leveling (Inner Cloister Skeleton LOL).
Now imagine how much of a crucible finding the remaining Ber is. (playing solo on Bnet)
The best I can find farming are Ist/Mal/Um when I'm lucky. Nothing better than that ever drops, and finding an item that's also worth at least a Vex (which is not that far from Ber...) is also nearly impossible.
It really sucks having 80% of the item assembled, but the remaining 20% is nearly impossible to get because the drop rates are so abysmally low
Yeah those drop rates were designed to make you dedicate your life to playing Blizzard's games. Fuck Blizzard for that BS, a Ber should drop every 100 games, not every 2000 games+.
Ive found jah and 2 ber on single player its not impossible
MRLLAMASC just played 87 hours SSF 1 to zod. He didn't find zod, he crafted it from lower runes.
They should make this item available on spears too. No love for spears lol
Been farming ethereal cryptic axe bases since D2R went live...still none. Definitely didn't think I'd get the runes before the base, but that's RNG for ya.
Better base now, Eth 4 Socket Mancatcher is the best base now.

hah, You are right about that apparently no class can live without it nowadays. Every build guide I see includes an infinity haha
@@GGMentor I've seen many people swear that beating hell with a sorc is impossible without it. How about play the game and stop getting rushed? I have held that statement back many times.
You guys are right I was a total D2 noob and finished Hell with Sorc through Andariel farming. No infinity of course. But farming Hell and multiple areas is a different story.

It should provide at least lvl 18 Conviction for that cost. Only if you aren't using that puny lvl 12 at Nighmare difficulty.

The only way to get this is to hussle and sell items you find for high runes.
If you play alot you will find good items eventually. But ber rune worthy? Its a dream for most I bet about 90% of players with infinity got it with forum gold
So for a light sorc would I be the one to wield infinity or should my Merc? Appreciate any info ! Much love and respect diablo bros

It should really have at least 40% ias on it too, Speaking of ias for the Merc Treachery or Fort I use Treachery instead for the fade and ias would like to hear other peoples feedback or maybe even a video on the subject, Thanks for another great video.. 👍
I have a hybrid necro. It's a bone necro at core all the skills are bone necro and then I dropped points into summons for meat shields. I used treachery from about lvl 85 to 92. The merc did tank a lot better but my merc still dies. He has a GV insight and tal mask as I don't have andy yet.
I switch to Fortitude and I can grind any area my merc maybe gets 1 hit but makes that up as soon as he hits and enemy.
Problem now is my i die before my merc even takes damage. Is it better.... I don't know I can just share my experience with both. If you can afford it make a fortitude and see how it works for you. Tal mask has some life leach and it work on 10%.
My merc hits for 3.5k to almost 7k. So he tanks for me gets me bodies to raise or explode. I like both but my new fav is fortitude.

What is the use case scenario?
Lower resistance curse and conviction stack very poorly on immunes.
Keep in mind if using cyclone armor charges on an ethereal weapon you can't repair the charges. This is a great series, thank you.
Are you sure ? Pretty sure there was a cube recipe to repair the charges. Would still be expensive to repair however, not paying gold but actual runes each time, not exactly cheap.
Infinity is worth every penny! A lightning sorc with full Tal Set gets another -15% and a -5% jewel in the orb socket comes handy too. 85-90% of all light immune mobs ,the immunities break. other immunities who cares, i have 25k damage. i am very happy with it, CS Runs are a blast now, without its so hard with a sorc.
Cold immunity rarely ever breaks even with lvl 25 conviction I know I run a conviction paladin.
I don't really see infinity being a great choice specifically for a cold sorc.
They already have a massive - cold resistance from cold mastery and you can only go as low as -100%
Cold mastery, facets, and Nightwing ect don't break immunities. So I fail to see what specifically infinity does for a cold sorceress.
They can already hit the -100% cap on any monster with just cold mastery.
And practically no cold immune monsters can be broken. I just don't see the point.
For a fire sorc, or a lightning sorc or a dual spec sorc even it's a great choice. But a cold only sorc gets next to zero benefit.

Love your content dude!! But i may have a noob question for you and the community..... do the 1 to lightning grand charms scale with X% chance to cast chain lightning on the insight...crescent moon.. lightsaber etc?
Elemental damage charms only at elemental damage to a physical or ranged attack.
It doesn't add damage to spells
@@GGMentor no no do the 1 to lightning skill... not the damage charms meaning do they count as another level say chance to cast level 20 chain lightning and say i had 3 charms with 1 lightning skill... would the chain lightning be 23

The -45/55 to enemy lightning resistance doesn't get applied to the monsters if the Infinity is wielded by the mercenary, correct?
If a lightning spearzon wielding an infinity has a Merc with a infinity, would the auras combine to be level 24?
Auras rarely if ever combine, the mainly just compete.
Which means the strongest is active and the weakest is inactive.
So no you wouldn't get lvl 24 conviction.
Also you are correct the -55% ELR does not apply to you if the Merc is using the item. It only applies to him.

Infinity is an absolute game changer for a necro, if you're using summons it will make your clear speed insanely short. It's vastly superior to pride.
I cant even find one ber for a beast, 2 more after for infinity aint gonna happen, but yea I would choose it over pride

Yes crushing blow, and open wounds both work on smite.

Does infinity work on Baal?
Of course it does, but what is it your trying to achieve?
Conviction lowers defense but basl is still very hard to hit even with conviction.
It lowers resistance, but he has a ton of HP which makes spells slow to kill him.
Crushing Blow works much better on bosses like baal that have extremely high HP pools. Same with Static Field
@@GGMentor I just got me an “ice” runeword matriarchal bow and I got sunder to cold plus infinity on merc, but Idk if they both stack or work against Baal . Was gonna try running faith on lvl 1 merc instead of infinity but like I said idk if infinity against Baal makes any difference
@@ragingpower80 yes freezing arrow with Ice Bow would Get a kill speed increase from Infinity.
I also recommend you have some open wounds and one small poison charm to help stop regeneration

You could still give infinity to the merc of a cold sorceress, and since cold mastery also helps to break immunities it may just be enough to break a cold immunity. Only works for cold sorceress however.
Infinity doesn't break cold immunities really. Probably about less then 10% of all cold immunes are breakable

The tal Rasha's orbs are used to fcr breakpoint testing. This is a single player character and each orb was custom made to reach separate breakpoints.
This way I could demonstrate and test different fcr levels with ease.

I then take the saves from d2LoD and copy them to the D2R save directory and d2r converts them.

Is it possible to use a combination of conviction aura plus a sorc's cold/lightning/fire mastery to break resistances further? Perhaps throwing a lower resist wand into the mix? Or do those specific monsters still remain immune
Lower resist and conviction do in fact stack together but very poorly.
When they are affecting a monster that is not immune they both have their full effect.
But whenever they are affecting a monster that is immune they're at 1/5 of their effectiveness even if the immunity is broken.
Yes conviction and lower resist both stack with cold mastery and negative resistance items. However cold Mastery and negative resistant items do not break immunities.
Wish this could be made in bows or staves, that would be the dream.

Speaking of crushing, does it proc along with the physical damage dealt? Or dies it roll seperately and dies not stack with the physical damage?
And also, wouldn't a character like a lightening sorc or trap assassin benefit more from weilding infinity then wear +skill weap/shield. That -45% to -55% is alot.
Great questions.
#1 CB applies first and is added to your regular damage dealt.
#2 trap assassin gets no benefit from - enemy lightning resistance because traps are minions technically and those effects only apply to yourself.
A sorceress on the other hand would get a nice boost in damage from it.

You mention the charges to cyclone armor, but you forgot to mention that you can't repair/recharge eth items, so you shouldn't mess with them, at the least because it makes it look less perfect when you try to sell it.
