Welcome to the next episode of our LRI PROUD Video Series! LRI Landfill receives all of Pierce County's municipal solid waste. When waste is buried at the landfill it creates landfill gas. We have a state of the art Gas Collection and Control System that ensures this gas is captured and ultimately piped to our Landfill Gas to Energy facility. This facility creates enough electricity to power up to 4,000 homes in Pierce County. Our landfill can create potential landfill gas odors, especially during site construction.
