I recently purchased this printer to create stickers for my business. I've never been great at using printers, and dreaded this part. I came across this video, and wanted to say THANK YOU! I always use UA-cam for 'How To' videos, and this is by far the BEST tutorial I've come across. Regardless if this was published 3+ years ago or not, you have a gift.
Thank you, so much! I really appreciate you making this video. My old computer won’t install the disk that came with my PIXMA G7020. I cannot download anything from Canon to my iPad . . . So I was most frustrated! You taught me that I do not need the Canon disk and what the QR code is + how to use it. You did an awesome job teaching this teacher! I am very grateful!
Thank you SO much for making this. I was stuck at the printhead part and decided to search on youtube and you saved the day. Watching you walk us through this set up was 10x easier than trying to follow drawings with very few instructions. It's been a ROUGH day (having to suddenly try to find and buy a new printer during COVID for 2 self-employed businesses was actually one of the LESS stressful parts of the day, so you can imagine how well the other 15 Murphy-inspired issues went), and your kind and patient tutorial took a lot of the edge and stress out of the day. Thank you again! :-)
I USED your video to setup my brand new Canon G7020 PIXMA Printer!!! And it worked-out PERFECTLY!!! I'm from "the old school." So I thought, "Well, I'm going to hardwire this printer to my Windows computer so I will use the CD to connect my printer." Yeah...RIGHT! I then continued watching your video (for about the 40th time!!!) and went to ij.start.canon! It was SUPER-SIMPLE from there!!! It loaded, connected, did EVERYTHING!!! In a few minutes, the new printer DID PRINT the test page I had TRIED to print BEFORE I connected the printer to my computer! Duuuuuuuhhhhhhh!!! I also found that my Canon PIXMA G7020 is NOT eligible for auto-replenish ink! I can get it cheap through eBay! I wanted to let you know...I LOVE THIS CANON PIXMA G7020 PRINTER!!! First, it's going to be a LONG time before I need replacement ink! Like you said in the video, this is a GIGANTIC LEAP for printing!!! 6,000 pages in black...and Canon includes THREE bottles of black ink with the printer?!!! You CANNOT find a better deal than that!!! I was timid when I was putting the bottles of ink in the printer...at least, the first bottle of black ink! THAT'S SIMPLE!!! You put the end of each bottle as close as you can to the printer port, turn it upside-down and GENTLY (not with force!) press the bottle down on the printer port! Voila (wa la') and the bottle empties into the printer container! The rest was easy and I, now, have a BRAND NEW CANON PIXMA G7020 OPERATING PRINTER!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this video!!! Your video also sold me on this printer!!! After I watched this video the first time, through eBay, I purchased a brand new one from Best Buy!!! Thank you again!!!
So grateful that you made this video! I think I only have a 5G network, so I learned from your video that if I buy this printer I will have to connect it to my desktop computer via a wire (LAN line), and then it won't be available for printing from my laptop also. It was super helpful to see the setup step by step, and I really appreciate your clear directions and the measured pace of your video - Just what I needed. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Michael! After reading reviews about it taking 5 hours to set up this printer, I felt a little daunted and searched UA-cam. SO much easier with a vid, but I cannot fathom why it took some folks hours. Ah well. Thank you 🙏🏼
Just got this printer, now that I have watched your video I am confident I should be able to set it up no problem! Thanks for making this very easy to follow and informative video!
I watched your video when I was trying to decide which printer to purchase and also used it for an easier setup after it arrived today. Your video is much easier to follow than the book for me. Seeing it done is just better than looking through a book. Thank you! It is appreciated!
OMG Thank you thank you thank you thank you so very much!!!! I could not have done it without your help. I am a senior citizen & really needed something to help me as I am not really good with hooking things up. You saved the day. I will recommend your site to all , thanks again!
THANK YOU, MICHAEL!!! I prefer a good UA-cam video, rather than the good ol' instruction manual! THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO!!! Thank you for showing us what to do BEFORE I plug up, or power-up, the G7020 printer! I just got the identical printer today. Tomorrow night, when I take it out of the box, I will have your video playing! ONE QUESTION PLEASE: The video looked very simple when you put the ink in the printer. The question, when you turned each of the ink bottles upside down, and before you pushed down on the loading port, does the ink immediately flow out of the bottle...or do you HAVE to press down on the port for the ink to start flowing? Too, I could not see the port very well in your video. Is the port "simple" for the bottle end to connect to the printer port or does this require a very well lighted assistance and "hope for the best?" Thank you again, Michael!!!
Woohoo! I’m setting up my printer today and I am very grateful for this review and video. I’m generally anxious to set up new printers but this vid helped to soothe that anxiety. I can do it!!
I like your re-assuring voice and no nonsense approach. I could not make my mind up between this canon or the epson 4760. I believe I will be satisfied with this printer and I thank you for the great unboxing and set up. Nice job.
You just helped make up my mind on this printer. I have a cartridge Epson that I HATE. It wants cartridges 2 times a year and I seldom print in color. It won't print in just B&W when the others say they are empty. Thanks for the info and great explanation as to the ease of setup.
Reviews, Tutorials & Tech You’re An Excellent Teacher! You made my life so easy today! I am already printing up a back log! Three weeks of trying to buy a printer, all had been canceled two days before arriving. I love the color and the easy of this printer. Well worth waiting for! Once again, Thank you!!
I do not use the fax function nor do I have a landline or other method to send a fax. Sorry I can't help but that is why I did not demonstrate the fax. Your user guide should provide the guidance you require. If you do not have the user guide it is available as on online version at Canon website.
This was one of THE BEST tutorial walk-throughs I have seen. I just purchased the G7020. You should think about putting quick versions of your tutorial content on TikTok.
Thanks for your positive comment. Means a lot to me. Posting on TikTok is an interesting suggestion. I've never considered Tik Tok as a platform to post my videos. I'll have to look into that.
This video is excellent. Unfortunately, I found it AFTER I'd installed my printer. Now, I could use a tutorial on the function keys and menu. Thanks very much.
Thank you, A sales person at Best buy told me that "the older generation needs to catch up with technology because we are going to be Left behind". I told him that Canon doesn't need to know where I am, all I need is to make a photo copy and a cell telephone dial tone to make a phone call not to watch movies. it all comes back to pencil and paper. I remember Gasoline was 25¢ a gallon in 1967 and phone calls 10¢
All I cared about was Duplex printing, the ADF and the fax were 2nd options in my eyes; but also probably nice to have incase the requirement calls for it, especially the ADF for College and firing off notes to classmates and classmates who are handicapped...$500 is a lot ($299 if you're patient, lol), but the money that you could possibly save in ink alone quickly adds up very quickly if you're doing a lot of printing for either for work or school and your allowances for either are 'limited'...The year is barely halfway over, and I've already spent $60 on cheap ink from 3rd party groups recycling the cartridges...It's getting to be so bad that they're now beginning to charge full price, and still contain error codes that the cartridge is low on ink...lol...
@@michaelerbreviews I finally got it to scan but a bit of a hit and Miss situation. I wanted to scan 7 pages the other day but it stopped half way through the 3rd page.
Thank you for the great video. Excellent audio quality!! Great explanation. I already watched your photo review for this printer and that was very good as well. I have an Epson Eco tank but the photos from that are not good. This will be replacing my Pixma 922 that got the dreaded print head error message, but the photos were very good.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHOW US HOW TO SET UP THIS PRINTER FROM OPENING UP THE BOX TO SETTING IT UP. THE ONLY THING THAT I NOTICED WAS THAT YOU DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE FAX PART OF THE UNIT & HOW TO SET IT UP. SO MAYBE YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO A VIDEO OF HOW TO DO THAT. THANKS AGAIN FOR TAKING YOU PRECIOUS TIME TO SHOW US HOW TO DO IT.❤❤❤
I understand your disappointment that I didn’t show the fax function. The simple fact of the matter is I do not use the fax function, and therefore cannot produce a video showing it.
I have messed with Canon's website enough! YOU led me through setting-up my G7020 printer, exactly like yours! THANK YOU!!! First, every time I print something, the orange "error" indicator comes on. I have to turn off the printer, lift the lid, put it down and turn on the printer to fix this. Please tell me what to do! The last thing...the G7020 has started turning itself off. It stayed on until the first time the "error" thing happened. Will you please tell me how to turn the printer on indefinitely? I've already gone through the setup button and turning the automatic on/off "off!" Thank you and God bless you!
Thanks for sharing Micheal! I like this printer. The one I have now is an HP and it will not connect to my iPad. I was on the phone with HP for over 2 hours and they could not get it to work either. I called Comcast, my cable provider, and they said my printer needs to be connected to a desktop or laptop computer. So since I am an Apple fan I will get an Apple laptop at some point in the future. Perhaps the printer will work then, it’s only a few years old and I really do not want to buy a new printer untill I find out what the problem is. Thanks again!
I love this printer. And I also loved the previous printer which is the Canon G4210. But for me the G7020 has a few features that make it more useful to me. Larger paper tray, duplex printing and easier access to the paper tray and control panel. But if I didn't have this one, I'd still like the G4210. I print from my iPhoneXR using AirPrint or the Canon app easily.
Michael, I've got a new, replacement G7020! It works perfectly! One question...the manual instructions have not worked on this. How do I set this printer to stay on 24/7 please? Every time I try to set the printer, within the next 24 hours, it turns itself off. THANK YOU!!!
You need. to ensure that Auto Power Off is not active. Check your settings. Here is a link to the online manual ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G7000%20series/EN/CNT/Top.html
Thanks for your help setting up my printer! Everything went great until I got to WiFi setup which just isn’t working for me. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot?
If you use WPS which most routers have, it should let you easily add the printer to your network. support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART179407 What is the issue you are having?
Aside from the panel location, do you find the newer one considerably better than your 4210? The specs indicate that the 4210 scans with higher dpi, and that’s important for me. However, the 7020 has duplex.
Well, it's considerably better if duplex printing is an important feature for you. The 7020 has duplex printing which is very important to me. I also think that the front loading, large capacity paper tray is very important. And I can have photo paper and regular paper loaded at the same time since there are two paper paths.. one from the front tray and the other on the back. I did not even realize the scanning resolutions were different between the two printers since I rarely scan and when I do it's documents where higher resolution isn't important. I think you may be mistaken bout that however. According to the specs I'm looking at, the G7020 has scan optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi whereas the G4210 has scan optical resolution of only 600 x 1200 dpi. My source of information is the Canon User Guide for each printer. G4210 gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/7/0300029527/01/G4010ser_OnlineManual_Mac_EN_V01.pdf G7020 gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/8/0300037808/01/G7000ser_OnlineManual_Mac_EN_V01.pdf
You're right about the specs, my mistake. My new G7020 will be here in the mail the next few days. Instead of the manual, I'll probably just have your video running during setup👌👏
Angie Paliga I did not buy an extended warranty for the printer. I seldom purchase extended warranties as I have just never felt they were a good value.
Yes, I still have the printer and I still love it. What minor complaints I have about it don’t affect its overall usefulness to me. An issue I’ve mentioned is that the display is very small and isn’t backlit. But I don’t often have to use the display so it’s not that bothersome in daily use.
@@michaelerbreviews thank you for your reply. I saw in the video where you mentioned that minor issue which also is not a big deal for me either. Thanks again.
I am not familiar with the GX4020. But I am not a fan of the tiny, not backlit screen on the G7020.However that is my only real issue with the G7020. As a side note, I am personally not a fan of touch screens.
@@michaelerbreviews thank you so much for your incredibly fast response! I have a touchscreen on my HP printer at home and I think that’s why I am now biased. That’s good to know that that is the only issue you have with the G7020. I think I’m going to go with the 4020 for the touchscreen because I’m gonna creature of habit and familiarity, but it’s good to know that the G7020 is a good back up if that one fails. I appreciate your response.
Hello, I need your help, do you still have the original packaging of the printer? I would like to know what are the measurements of the original box where the printer comes.
Thank you for this! Quick question- can I connect this to a dell docking station but also connect and print via wifi from the laptop when it isn’t docked, or an iPhone? I’m concerned it will affect how all my other wireless devices work if it’s only connected via wifi.
Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful and informative. I am leaning toward buying this printer. Can you tell me if it is compatible with a Chromebook?
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Smartphone. I would like to wirelessly connect the Canon G7020 printer to my Samsung Galaxy Note 9. I have a Canon printing app on the phone. But I'm not sure if it is the same Canon app that I downloaded to the smartphone from the Google Play Store.
Is changing the maintenance sponge expensive or easy to change. How often does that require changing. I have looks at a lot of youtube inktank vids of various brands and I like the looks and features of this model. Have you had and print head clogs and if so, what did you do to clean them? From what I've read, you need to use the printer at least once a month to avoid the printhead clogs. I have a Brother J485DW that uses the ink cartridges and it eats a lot of ink just to clean the head which is why I am scouting for the best ink tank printer, I know that the HP/Cannon/Epson have their pros and cons. I look at the cons first to determine what I'd be up against in functionality and expenses. I've read that one of the cons for your printer is that the led screen is not backlit and hard to read and to set up. Have you prints any photos yet and how do the photos look?
I don't know anything about changing the maintenance sponge but don't think it's normally anything you have to worry about unless you are for some reason doing frequent cleanings of the print head. In the over 2 year period of time that I've had the printer there has been only one head deep cleaning needed due to the fact I was gone for 3 months and the printer was not used at all. Deep cleaning does use a lot of ink but it got the printer working perfectly afterwards and sometimes I don't print anything for weeks at a time. I've not had any print head issues. the replacement ink is inexpensive and 've only had to fill my ink tanks on the printer one time in over 2 1/2 years of use. This does not excel at printing photos, it's not a dedicated photo printer but it does print photos and I'm quite happy with how they look.
Thank you for this video. Can you go over how to use the fax functions if you are on a home network? Can it be setup so it can be used without connecting it to a landline? The documentation isn’t very clear. I found where to select the Fax option under the printer selection, but it isn’t clear how to use internet facing rather than facing via landline. Is a special modem required? Thank you.
It’s connected but won’t print now. I did play with a few things in the menu before seeing your video. But I don’t know what I went into to change. Should I just unplug?
When you start changing settings without really knowing or remembering what you changed, it's hard to say what the problem might be. Turning off and on again can sometimes fix things and is generally the first thing you should try. But it sounds like it might be something else that the simple step won't rectify.
@@michaelerbreviews I got my G7020 and I did my 1st two photo printing. The results were the following: The b&w print looked a little bit magenta, the colored print looked pale. What do I have to do to fix this, your recommendation will be highly appreciated!
Sanaa Al Shaikhli there shouldn’t be any magenta in a B&W print. Check your print settings for Black & White only. You will have to tweak settings as you need to in the print dialog.
how has it performed for the past year+? I mainly watched the video, because you showed the actual box and I needed to get a sense of the box size for shipping.
The printer has been great. I haven’t even had to replenish ink yet. Of course I don’t print large amounts, but I have another HP printer that has required several new ink cartridges, an expensive purchase, in that same amount of time.
what color settings are you using, because for the life of me mine I bought a few months after posting this and color prints just are always faded and off?
I bought the G6020 and had a lot of trouble with it but am going to give the 7020 a try...have heard good things about it. Do you know if there are any compatability issues with hp laptop windows 11?
Hey, thanks for the video. We just bought a g7050 and it's making some terrible noises when using the ADF. It's working, but we are wondering if it's correct. Could you please tell us about the noises you printer does when using the ADF?
Sorry to hear you are hearing strange sounds from the ADF. It should not be making strange sounds, just normal transport sound. Make sure the paper guides aren't overly tight against the item(s) in the tray. You might have a defective unit if the sounds persist.
Hi Michael, thank you for your video. I noticed you print photos regularly. I have noticed with my G7020 the photos print a bit lighter. I want the dark richness from my Mac but they always come out lighter. Have you experienced this or might know of a solution? I haven't found the answer yet. Im on Big Sir OS.
Keep in mind this is not specifically made for printing photos. Yes, you can print photos but you just don’t have quite as much control as a dedicated photo printer. Having said that, different types of paper are going to give you different results. And there are lots of different kinds of photo paper.
Many times companies designate a different model # for different markets. Perhaps that's the case with the G7070. I'd contact Canon support to get a definitive answer.
Has it ever happened to you that your printer won’t print the correct colors. I’m trying to print red lettering but it looks pink. And green also looks pinkish. Any idea why? All of my ink is full
Once connected to your/my computer, I assume you can then connect to iPhone or iPad as well, yes? And if devices aren’t on 5ghz channels, would there be any problems. Also, could I use AirPrint as opposed to Cannon App? I additionally saw reviews by people complaining that printer turned off and when printing from different room, they had to go to printer first to turn it on. Have you experienced this problem?
The printer has a configurable eco-mode which in enabled shuts it down if not being used for a period of time. I have never had a problem with it turning back on as soon as a print job has been sent to it. I print to the printer all the time from my iPhone. Works great. AirPrint works perfectly for me. You can also use the Canon Print app and print files that are on your phone in iCloud Drive. I print on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz.
Reviews, Tutorials & Tech Thanks. Answers I was hoping for. Plan on purchasing in next few weeks once workers in PA get partially back to work. Great video and expertise. Appreciate it.
Thank you for posting this great video! I'm considering buying this printer but I don't know if it'll fit in the space I have for it. I saw where you have the printer inside a cabinet. I have a similar setup, minus the pull-out. The depth is only 18" and the height 14.5". Would this printer fit in there? My current Canon Cartridgehog fits with the cabinet door closed, and when it prints, the paper output tray slides itself out from the compact position. It's easy to push back in in order to closet the cabinet door. I'm wondering if this printer would work the same way.
Hello Michael! I really appreciate your video - Step-by-Step, from box to finish setup. This will be extremely helpful when I start my process. This is my first Canon printer ever, so I'm real excited for getting away from having to purchase cartridges which only last 2-3 weeks, depending on how much I print. Thanks again for the walk thru!
ive had my printer about a month, and it worked great but just started printing more faded with little white lines across everywhere (its all colors doing this), almost like its pixelated. please let me know if you have any advice
I am assuming you are using photo paper? Make sure you have your printer's paper settings correct. Glossy paper vs semi-gloss vs Matte vs plain paper, that will make a huge difference right there. Sometimes you need to adjust the color settings as well. If nothing improves then you have to open the photo in an image editing program and tweak the color and try again to get the result you hope to get.
Great little printer however the screen sucks.. can't read it without using a flashlight!! Also, the printer turns itself off and has to be turned back on to be able to print.. how can this be fixed???
I agree that the lack of a back light is a deterrent. However as far as the printer shutting off, that’s an energy saving feature and unless you don’t have it set up properly it should turn back on automatically as soon as a print job is being sent to it. Mine does.
Thanks also for providing a link to the online manual in one of your responses in the comments! Not to mention, how great that you respond to comments! Per the manual, I think it said that photo paper MUST go in the back paper feeder thingy, that photo paper cannot go in the front paper cassette. Bummer, as I have my printer in a pull out drawer like I think you have and I was hoping to print on photo paper with the printer in the drawer. Is it true you can't put photo paper in the front? Thanks again for all your help.
I having an issue with the orange part that goes inside of the printer. Is it a must I put it back in and suddenly it seems it won't fit. And on the back of the two heads that I installed and there is another piece of tape on them that connects to the pins in the back I leave that on right?
when I do a print check it prints colors, when I try to print a picture or anything else it is printing black and white? I have flushed and cleaned everything. I have a G4210
Hi Michael. Thank you for the set up video. My new Canon G7020 is working fine, but it makes a series of clicking noises every time I print. Is that normal? Does yours make clicking noises? Like something is perhaps rotating and clicking. Not a sound my old Epson printer made, so perhaps it's normal for this one? Thank you.
My printer does not make clicking noises throughout a print job. Only at the very beginning the carriage may move back and forth a few times prior to printing beginning.
@@michaelerbreviews Thanks for the reply. Mine makes the clicking noises while it's printing - I think maybe it's a roller pulling the paper through - Just a guess. Do you think this is a problem? Everything seems to work fine. Is there something I should check on or do that you know about?
I have not had any issues with the ink drying out. But you do need to use the printer every week or so otherwise there is the possibility that the print heads could clog due to dried ink. If that happens you need to run the deep cleaning cycle on them to unclog the print head.
Good Evening , Thank you for the great video that was made and explained in detail. 🙂 I have a few questions about this product. Does the printer have a Bluetooth connection? How many times have you had to refill ink since you bought it? Have you had any problems with the printer since you bought it, and if so, which goods? I thank you in advance and wish you a blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2023 Kind regards Jan 🙂
The printer is WiFi, not bluetooth. I've only filled the ink once since I've owned it. It's amazingly frugal with ink. No problems except those brought on by ignorance of not reading the user guide.

Woohoo! I’m setting up my printer today and I am very grateful for this review and video. I’m generally anxious to set up new printers but this vid helped to soothe that anxiety. I can do it!!
Glad it helped you.
I like your re-assuring voice and no nonsense approach. I could not make my mind up between this canon or the epson 4760. I believe I will be satisfied with this printer and I thank you for the great unboxing and set up. Nice job.
I appreciate that!
You just helped make up my mind on this printer. I have a cartridge Epson that I HATE. It wants cartridges 2 times a year and I seldom print in color. It won't print in just B&W when the others say they are empty. Thanks for the info and great explanation as to the ease of setup.
Michael, without your step by step help video, I would have taken it back! Thank you so very much!! Debra
Debra Barth I’m happy to hear my video helped you out. This is a great printer I hope you like it as well.
Thanks for your setup instructions. However, I am confused as to using the FAX. Can you please demonstrate that me?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh, and did I say thank you?! Your walk-through greatly simplified the process.
That's nice of you to say. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks for your very clear walk-through! It was a big help. I hope you'll make one for scanning (including setting up the scan settings)!
Thanks for the idea!
Can this copy and printing both sides of the page also can you make a video of how the fax using your Android on a PC
support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART175692 I don't have Android, don't have a PC and don't fax.
Does the ADF automatically scan both sides of the pages?
You are just terrific. Your video was accurate, easy to follow and is much appreciated. I could never have done this set up without you. Thanks.
You're very welcome! Hope you'll consider subscribing.
thank you! great unboxing. my printer is on back order. can't wait!
Julie Bosdachin So have you received your printer and what do you think?
I love my printer but I wish the screen was lighted, it is hard to see
Agreed. The screen implementation is very weak.
Thanks Michael for this. I have set up my printer but having major problems in scanning from printer to computer. I have a G7060
What problems?
@@michaelerbreviews I finally got it to scan but a bit of a hit and Miss situation. I wanted to scan 7 pages the other day but it stopped half way through the 3rd page.
Michael, you made a fantastic video! It was very helpful in setting up my printer. Thank you!
I think you made a good choice. I'm really liking this printer.
Our one is arriving tomorrow, thankyou for a very detailed video, extremely helpful!
Hoping you have a good experience with it.
Hey guy I just set this printer 🖨 up today it’s a rocket 🚀 ship. Thanks 😊
Nice 👍
Thank you
Thank you for the video. It was very useful. Much better than the printed manual that came with the computer.
Fantastic tutorial and was a big help in our set up. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
That's a mystery to me. Sorry I can't offer a solution. Try contacting
Canon Support would be my best suggestion.
Happy this is in an understandable accent☺️🤞🙏✌👍👍👍
Thanks for your help setting up my printer! Everything went great until I got to WiFi setup which just isn’t working for me. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot?
If you use WPS which most routers have, it should let you easily add the printer to your network. support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART179407
What is the issue you are having?

G7020 gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/8/0300037808/01/G7000ser_OnlineManual_Mac_EN_V01.pdf
You're right about the specs, my mistake. My new G7020 will be here in the mail the next few days. Instead of the manual, I'll probably just have your video running during setup👌👏
This was an excellent video. Thanks so much for all your work! Did you buy an extended warranty for this printer? Wondered if I needed one?
Angie Paliga I did not buy an extended warranty for the printer. I seldom purchase extended warranties as I have just never felt they were a good value.
Wow ! Thank you for this video. It’s now 3 years, do you still have or like this printer?
Yes, I still have the printer and I still love it. What minor complaints I have about it don’t affect its overall usefulness to me. An issue I’ve mentioned is that the display is very small and isn’t backlit. But I don’t often have to use the display so it’s not that bothersome in daily use.
@@michaelerbreviews thank you for your reply. I saw in the video where you mentioned that minor issue which also is not a big deal for me either. Thanks again.
Can you connect to a USB port and also how do you set up your fax line.
I am between this and the GX4020 which has the touch screen. Any insight on which may be better?
I was hoping you hooked up the telephone line for the fax machine.
How do I change the paper settings from photo to paper
Thank you very much. Got me through the set-up easy peasy. Much appreciated.
You're welcome!
Hello, I need your help, do you still have the original packaging of the printer? I would like to know what are the measurements of the original box where the printer comes.
I no longer have the box, sorry. The web site says the. box size is this... Box Dimensions (LxWxH) 21 x 19.5 x 13"
Thank you for this! Quick question- can I connect this to a dell docking station but also connect and print via wifi from the laptop when it isn’t docked, or an iPhone? I’m concerned it will affect how all my other wireless devices work if it’s only connected via wifi.
Thanks again for the kooooool videos in such a detail... helps
Glad you like them! Thanks for leaving a comment.
Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful and informative. I am leaning toward buying this printer. Can you tell me if it is compatible with a Chromebook?
I have not ever tried but I do believe that it will connect via WiFi so you should be good.
Great Job getting us started..,
Thanks for the comment.
Can this printer print from an Iphone from a distant location?
From what I've read, you need to use
the printer at least once a month to avoid the printhead clogs. I have a Brother J485DW that uses the ink cartridges and
it eats a lot of ink just to clean the head which is why I am scouting for the best ink tank printer, I know that the HP/Cannon/Epson
have their pros and cons. I look at the cons first to determine what I'd be up against in functionality and expenses. I've read that one
of the cons for your printer is that the led screen is not backlit and hard to read and to set up. Have you prints any photos yet and
how do the photos look?
Thank you.
I don't use the fax function and haven't investigated its operation, sorry.
@@michaelerbreviews thank you.
I want to get one but I am checking some reviews before I do the purchase, and this one was useful; Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
@@michaelerbreviews I got my G7020 and I did my 1st two photo printing. The results were the following:
The b&w print looked a little bit magenta, the colored print looked pale. What do I have to do to fix this, your recommendation will be highly appreciated!
Sanaa Al Shaikhli there shouldn’t be any magenta in a B&W print. Check your print settings for Black & White only. You will have to tweak settings as you need to in the print dialog.
Can I load letter size paper and photo paper at the same time. I want a printer that I don't have to remove one in order to print on another.
Yes. This printer is awesome. Here's the user guide. gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/8/0300037808/01/G7000ser_OnlineManual_Mac_EN_V01.pdf
Good job on video. It helped a lot. Canon disc wasn't as good in helping. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great to hear!
Can this printer print a half sheet of paper? 5.5 by 8.5?
Thanks, it was a big help. Love the printer
You're welcome! It's the best inkjet printer I've ever had without question.
how has it performed for the past year+?
I only have Macs in my house. So unfortunately, I can’t answer that question for you. Sorry.
Whats the difference between the g7070 and this?
Many times companies designate a different model # for different markets. Perhaps that's the case with the G7070. I'd contact Canon support to get a definitive answer.
Has it ever happened to you that your printer won’t print the correct colors. I’m trying to print red lettering but it looks pink. And green also looks pinkish. Any idea why? All of my ink is full
I have not had that issue.
Can you print on 110 lb 298 gsm paper on this? The stats on the website say yes but people on reviews say no
Great video! Does it duplex scan through the ADF?
No it does not.
The dimensions (W x D x H) are approx. 15.9 x 14.6 x 9.3 in. (approx. 403 x 369 x 234 mm) * With the Cassette and trays retracted.
Thank you for this video. It made the process of installing the print heads and the ink tanks less puzzling.
Thanks for your comment.
Thank you so much, this truly blessed me.
Thank you. I think you will be amazed at how long the ink lasts in this printer.
ive had my printer about a month, and it worked great but just started printing more faded with little white lines across everywhere (its all colors doing this), almost like its pixelated. please let me know if you have any advice
How frequently do you print? Sounds like you need to do a print head calibration and cleaning
Michael, I just bought one of these and when printing a photo from my laptop the photos look very faded. any idea why they print like this? Thanks.
Excellent tutorial!
Mine won’t go past the language message. I am so frustrated!
I always use the rear feed for photo paper
I having an issue with the orange part that goes inside of the printer. Is it a must I put it back in and suddenly it seems it won't fit. And on the back of the two heads that I installed and there is another piece of tape on them that connects to the pins in the back I leave that on right?
Jonny Blaze what orange part? There should not be any tape at all.
Can you print on thermal papers for fabric iron on?😊
I've never tried that so not sure.
As I’m trying to decide what printer I should buy, how would you say this compares to the Epson - EcoTank ET-3850?
Unfortunately I have no experience with the Epson model you mention.
when I do a print check it prints colors, when I try to print a picture or anything else it is printing black and white? I have flushed and cleaned everything. I have a G4210
Make sure that in the print dialog box you have not inadvertently checked the option to print in B&W
Normally you have to pay to refill them .... also I seen videos to preserve the ink so it does not dry out does this init not allow ink to dry out .?
I have not had any issues with the ink drying out. But you do need to use the printer every week or so otherwise there is the possibility that the print heads could clog due to dried ink. If that happens you need to run the deep cleaning cycle on them to unclog the print head.
Thank very much guys, good job
Thanks for watching!
Hi, does this printer do 2 sided to 2 sided copying in 8.5 x 14 inch with the automatic document feeder? (Duplex copying)
No
Thank you! This video is so helpful
Thanks for saying so.
Can I use the USB cord to set up this printer and avoid all the Wi-Fi stuff?
Yes, you can ... I just did. We old dinosaurs prefer not to have wi-fi connection problems! You get 3 choices: Wi-Fi, LAN or USB cord.
How do I keep this printer from “fit to page” when using an iPad? I print patterns and I need them to print original size, not fit to page.
I do not think that printing from an iPad gives you any ability to adjust that.
Does this printer allow for paper size 4” x 6”?
@@bobshoaf36 it supports 4x6 photo paper
Good Evening ,
Thank you for the great video that was made and explained in detail. 🙂
I have a few questions about this product.
Does the printer have a Bluetooth connection?
How many times have you had to refill ink since you bought it?
Have you had any problems with the printer since you bought it, and if so, which goods?
I thank you in advance and wish you a blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2023
Kind regards
Jan 🙂
The printer is WiFi, not bluetooth. I've only filled the ink once since I've owned it. It's amazingly frugal with ink. No problems except those brought on by ignorance of not reading the user guide.
