It must have never Got time to Cool down , Serious mileage for a 2016 van
490K that's seriously impressive for such a new car or should i say Van, will be super good to see what comes of this, It'd make a great modified mini camper too :D
Yeah it’s crazy how it’s done so many miles in such little time - And that’s after not being active for the past half of this year!
Throw the rs3 engine in it 🤣👌 jokes that’s mad mileage
Would be cool 🤣 Will reveal plans soon
@@TRHamza that was my first thought, rs3 swap 👀
Yep!
Once you notice the mirrors are completely different , you can’t unsee it 😂 good to see another man in a caddy enjoy dude 😎
Someone already did it with AE888 in UK i believe
I've recently had the high pressure fuel pump fail on my 1.6 tdi Octavia. It acted exactly the same way. The engine would crank endlessly without ever throwing a code. But when checking with VCDS it had 3 bar rail pressure while cranking (it needs something like 200 bar). Luckily the high pressure pump didn't throw any metal shavings into the fuel system. Replaced the pump and the engine is fine now.
Bro are you sure they haven't been winding the mileage forward every year?😂Absolutely crazy how clean that thing is for the mileage. Production quality is top notch for this one👌🏽
Absolute credit to Volkswagen that van . It looks like it’s only done a quarter of that mileage.👍
The only reason for this is most cars you buy are mainly town driving. This van has done mainly motorway mileage. So you won't see seat wear from getting in and out etc.
I had a VW Jetta 2.0 TDI sport 140 2009 it was a great car but quality wasn't it's strong point on that one, rust/VW scandal/egr went due to this by it was changed under warranty/since the scandal update they did to the car it was never the same when it was doing the dpf regeneration it would shake like a party bus and the fuel would seem to be coming into the car as the smell of fumes used to make us feel sick but got it checked a few different times but no reason was ever found and we'd have to open all the windows and it was so slow compared to when It was doing its regeneration it drove how it was supposed to before the update
Im still shocked how clean is inside and out with that mileage bro🤯🤯?
Yeah it’s mind blowing honestly, still confuses me 🤣
To do that Mileage in 5 years it’s just been drove up and down the motorway all day ain’t it. Not like buying an ex work van that’s rough as anything
Would be interesting to see a compression test on that engine.
Indeed as something ain’t ‘right’
Damn, things been to the moon and back. Looking forward to this series and where it goes.
WOW... Dec 19-Dec 20 it did 178,919 miles that's 490 a day! The drivers seat must have never been cold. The condition doesn't match the space shuttle mileage. I weirdly enjoyed this video and you launching your mates ride. I think I want a Van now 😂😂😂
I just checked it’s MOT too, what on earth has this van been used for to do 500 miles every DAY between dec’19-dec’20!! Especially in covid times! Must have been doing deliveries while everyone was at home. Also to run that reliably to manage that mileage in one year is exceptional
I've got a 2015 transporter with 352k on and I thought that was high ! Absolutely epic mile's that I'm jealous 🤣
Make sure the battery is fully charged, and/or jump it from another running engine. VAG diesels are super sensitive about the cranking speed of the engine. Even a half head battery won’t spin the engine fast enough for it to start.
I have a similar van with 495000 still running great, except changing clutch the rest is all working as it should be. Only problems are the sensor fault but nothing serious. I will run it 1000000 for sure
I own a vw caddy 2.0 tdi 2013, currently has 501100 miles on it. I bought it of a mate at 380k for just £1200 as the dealership in which he tried to trade offered him just £500 as high mileage. He was a vw enthusiast, serviced it every 20k without fail.. he delivered and collected blood down to the coast of cornwall daily averaging 400 miles a day. One year he clocked 90k. In its lifetime its had tyre changes every 50k pirellis,1 x battery at 445k 3 x timing belts with water pump each at 150k 300k 450k,3 x clutches 120 k 280k and 450k New radiator at 420k. Alternator belt 450k EGR VALVE has been stuck open from 220k but van runs as it should, only if its stuck closed will suffer from the computer restricting the RPM so aint attempted to fix it. Great vans to drive still feels sturdy. The 2013 onwards come with less headache any thing between 09-12 nothing but issues with egr, dpf and injectors going as i owned a few before. Just been offered 7k to scrap it from the ULEZ scrappage scheme as its used for my business based in London. Hate to see it go as i hit the milestone of 500k but i cant turn down 7k not to scrap...
I used to have a job delivering airplane parts all over the country over night. At least 12.000 miles every month. Did about 170.000 miles in a Peugeot Partner in a year. Cruise control was a must
Do you do exercise in your spare time? Sitting for that long in a van can't be that good for your health I'm guessing
Take off the pipes to the fuel filter and put the ignition on, it looks like it's not getting fuel
You can use VCDS to prime the fuel system too 🤝
no joke ive seen these vans used to run county lines. no wear and tear in the back, most likely used to push some serious weight. probably was used to run lines across europe also.
Hahaha love it! As well as my edition 30 I’ve also got a 2002 vw transporter which is ancient compared to a mk4 caddy but it’s been in the family years and has never let us down and I’ll never sell it. Look forward to see what you do with this one. In my opinion I think you should keep it diesel and do some mad stuff to it with a company like darkside or something.
I’ve got a 2021 October registered Man TGE 180….so 14 months old….it’s on 281000 and climbing
The injectors are probably shot on that motor... Take it to Darkside and do a full engine build!😬🙏🏼
How weird😂. I’ve literally been looking at high mileage Caddy’s for the past week. I was quite sceptical, now I got someone to tackle this problem I have
stay away from 1.6
@@jakep554 and that’s the cheapest variant. Thank you though 😂 2.0 tdi will do
@@jakep554 1.6tdi is solid, I got one on 220k miles
@@haider7866 how many injectors you replaced?
@@jakep554 none, I either use premium diesel or redex if I fill up with supermarket fuel...the key is to give it a good thrashing every once in a while, they only clog up if you drive like a granny and never over 2krpm
I NEED to know how these miles were accumulated!!!! Love shit like this
Judging by how the dashboard lights dim and flash when trying to start it I'd say the battery is dead and not holding charge
That mileage is incredible for the condition of your van.
That starter motor seems like its pulling alot of current and not doing much.
Good luck with it.
Please do a RS3 engine swap with a Stage 3 tune🤣😅 The Caddy will be a beast
I had that van new in December 2016, it had been affected by the emissions scandal and it had been stored unregistered for a good 18 months or so. God knows where they stored them as the paintwork was very badly contaminated. I had it polished and ceramic coated. I ran the van until march 2018 then part exchanged the van for a new V6 Amarok. It hadn't done many miles when I sold it maybe 25-30k. So in the remaining time it must not have been stopped!
Great video, love seeing a Caddy on the channel, especially with high miles. Hope you put up more videos on it. Would be good to see what you can make of it. Incredible miles for the age too. Great Channel.
Great video. Brilliant vans these ,driven a few especially like the DSG ones. Interesting point in the video about smaller mirrors on the life version..never noticed til now! Came across one of those 2.0tdi engines a while back was the high pressure fuel pump that had failed and also damaged injectors as a result. Was getting increasingly difficult to start with glow plug light flashing and loosing power then went to a non start like this, was also showing no fault codes!!
Definitley fuel issue. Spray some brake cleaner into the intake hose while cranking and do this untill it runs on it’s own. Just don’t spray too much at the time otherwise it wil rev limit🤣🤣
I’ve got a MK3 and when I get time I’ll be doing it up too. Can’t wait to watch this transformation
Bro!
Honestly looking forward to this one
Something I would like to do one day too! Be interested to see find out what options there are out there too!
Thanks! And good luck! 🙏
*The mileage is mad we would all love something that goes this long and it's reliable to go that long praying my car hits 200k lol* 👏
High pressure fuel pump has failed and will have blocked injectors with metal filings in the tank just done one with same engine code and has no fault codes.
Interesting, will look into this
Do the 1.6tdis have the same issues?
A high milage van could of been better looked after than a 30k vehicle it's clearly sat on a motorway at optimal speed for a prolonged amount of time which is pretty.much perfect for a engine personally I would go rs3 5 pot which I haven't seen on a van all the best with the build
has been done already, but that doesn't make it any less sick tbf
It is new plywood lined ,that is why it looks so good inside, within 12 months plywood fades to a pale shade.
In 6 years this van has done nearly 500k that's bloody insane
Cmon hamza, get this to 1 million miles rebuild the engine :pppp, would be quite a achievement
didn't see this one coming Hamza! nice
Caddy really like these cars don't know why, lots of support from South Africa brother 💪👌💥🔥
Cool video, it's shocking to see that amount of mileage in such a short space of time. I would be tempted to do the TFSI conversion
That is some crazy mileage.
The last owner has probably been able to do all their Xmas shopping with the all loyalty points they have earned on Diesel 🤣
I love high mileage cars and i love that you are not afraid of high mileage cars.
Impressive mileage covered for a 2016 model Caddy.
It would be interesting to know how it was serviced and i must say, it doesn't look like a 490 000miles and even the drivers seat is still neat.
Epic
Highway mileage is very low wear and tear
I’d love to know what kind of company has had a van and done in the region of 80k per year!
Seats look brand new as trade vans typically use seat covers
That engine will NEVER start with starter rotation speed in that video. The battery needs fully charging, or replaced with a high CCA alternative. You will mask the underlying problem with that rotation speed as you problem find.
Fix that cranking speed with a better battery, then see if it’ll pop off using some brake cleaner, definitely has compression from that slow cranking speed, so look at fueling next, HPFPs fail on this engine code if not in tank pump
Had a booster on it …….slightly worrying as didn’t crank right
Could be just as simple as changing the battery id start with that first when your cranking the van the instrument cluster is flickering
IM SO HAPPY YOU GOT A CADDY, PLZ MAKE THIS A MEGA BUILD
Love van buys and reviews
letting the glow plugs warm up properly and a new battery would give it a better chance at starting. Then id work on a process of elimination from that point. Definitely didn't have enough battery power to crank by the sounds of it.
Love this bro look forward to what you do with this ❤
I think it could be an immobiliser(alarm, central locking.
I had a similar problem with my mk7 2.0 tdi and the 9n3 polo.
I wonder if its still on original clutch and dpf 🤔 it's a very slow crank, you sure it has the correct battery in
I know what you mean I have a similar year seat Alhambra which is basically a badged vw 2.0 184pas dsg the box I find is quite close cut and I’ve surprised many a hot hatch in the twisty bits or off the line which is a lot to be said for what is a relatively heavy mpv.
December 2019 to December 2020 it did 180,000 miles which equates to 493 every day of the year - that just seems bonkers to me 🤪🤪 I’d expect worn pedal rubbers, worn seat bolster and worn gear knob.
@@V8VORLICHmust have been, don’t forget it did 180,000 miles in the year the rest of us was in lockdown 😂😂
And even MORE impressive it was the 180k mile year it had the accident! So the amount of miles it must have been doing while it was actually on the road!
Caddys are mega, lots of engine options... I've got 2 now one with a 1.8t in😅
The Volkswagen tdi engines all have a problem with the egr valve where if it fails bad the engine won't turn on and will just crank.
You need to look into Wolfsburg vans and and then convert the look of it stage by stage
Just had my transit Mk7 red AWD 2012 stolen full of tools and stock .. I've been looking at these vans..looks like the 1.6 are prone to injection issues so helpful vids mate ...get a small van, keep no stock or tools on your vans peeps
No issues with my 1.6 yet had it 3 years, it’s only just clocked 40k tho
My 1.6tdi has been solid, currently on 220k miles
Awesome man I'm looking forward to this as a fellow caddy owner ❤️
Babe wake up, Hamza dropped a new high mileage video 😂loving it as always bro
My dads Mercedes Sprinter diesel finally died at 870,000 miles. My dad called 400,000 miles properly broken in engine haha
I think the TDIs are perfect daily drivers. I wana get a mk7 tdi golf for daily so I make my mk6 gti a weekend car =]
2.0 tsi with DSG conversion
Banded steelies lowered then make it a over nighter
Nice little project for you great video
Can confidently say my 79000 mileage car from 2009 is in worse Condition visually but close in engine so surprised to see this one in good nick at least 🤣
Certainly pretty clean given the miles, got 100k mile vans at work that that look write offs
Throw a new battery on it to begin with, ive done mileage like that when i was doing courier and removal work. Uk to uk i would rack up 130k a year. When i done euro work it was closer to 150-160k.
Caddy with 300hp plus sounds pretty cool.
When are we going to see some more Volvo content though??
Check timing and maybe the tandem pump.
Looking forward to more in the caddy
Big turbo EA888 camper van build!
DO IT!
favorite build after the mk8
Can’t wait for you to get your teeth into this build 👍🏼 especially with how great your others have worked out!!
TDI engines are bullet proof! We had a Skoda Octavia with 300k on the clock.
Probably not getting any fuel.
Great video ,lad..not like a post 2010 VW diesel engine to put up those sort of miles..the old PD engines were bulletproof and super long milers
it sounded like it was starting to cough when you started it after the maf change
I had a 2010 caddy maxi 1.9 104 pd which I did the 6 speed golf conversion on, S3 seats and other bits. It had around about 180,000 on it when I sold it. I should never have sold it if I am honest.
No no no no wait for the glow plug light to go out on a diesel !!
Something different I respect it 💯
Awesome caddy! Personally I’d drop a PD in there push comes to shove, few folks have done dsg swaps on them too✌🏻
If it’s top spec it will have the adaptive cruise which you can set to 2 feet from the car in front 😜
With those high miles I would get the engine rebuilt and pump and inj replaced,
I would loveeee to see a Hamza build for a caddy, make it a Caddy GTi 👌🏼😂
You need to wait till the glow plug light goes out before cranking engine on a diesel motor
Love my van and wouldn't be without her
Somehow enjoyed the “Wheeler Dealer” reference most 😂 those were the days Mike and Edd
I’m intrigued to how it’s even possible to do that many miles in only few yrs
Even more in impressive between its dec 2019 and dec 2020 MOT it did 178,919 miles, in ONE year!!! What on earth was it being used for!!
Remember and let your glow plugs heat up a few times [possibly]
No north face fleece. Hamza a changed man
That drivers seat cannot have covered half a million miles. That mileage is from a workhorse van but the interior doesnt suggest its been used like that......weird really.
That’s what I thought, no creases on the seat bolsters at all
TANK!!! Either send the current engine to space if it blows then tfsii
Its already been to space with them miles 😆
Daza van incoming
That 6 speed box will worth a few quid 👍🏼
Last garage on that service history looks abit suspicious
Looks like you’v find your self a nice little project there I’m currently looking for one me self so I look forward to see what you do with this.. I’d be questioning the mileage or should I said the service history as it looks like it’s been stamped in one day.. run out of link ever time it was due 😅 but yeh nice clean very clean van for 490 👍🏽
The tdi engine is very good , but a gti caddy or even a caddy r imagine that
Try changing the glow plugs
Please put a golf r or rs3 engine in it
