Ours are incidentally pager activated, there’s an old minitor 2 in a locked cabinet, wired to the siren box. Cool to see around our station when we get a dispatch, some of us (depending how we ordered them) have our pagers on the pager tones, and alert first, some of us have our pagers on the siren tones, and alert a couple seconds later.
@@jaysmith1408 In Germany, we have Sitenensteuerempfänger, meaning Siren Controll Recievers. They are hooked up to the relais for the Siren. The controll reciever is on the same 5-Tone combination as our pagers. When an alarm comes in, our pagers go of after recieving the tones, but the controll reciever waits for a specific, long tone after the 5 tone combination. If dispatch sends a channel blocking tone, the Siren stays off. If the "Feuer"(Fire) tone comes after, the controll reciever switches the siren relais accordingly to the fire siren signal (12s on, 12s off, and that 3 times). If the "Warnung der Bevölkerung"(General warning to the population) tone comes after, the reciever switches that signal (2-2.7 sec. on, 2-2.7 seconds off, repeat one minute long). Then there is the tone for "ABC-Alarm"(CBRN-Alert), but thats not really used anymore. And theres the tone for "Entwarnung"(All clear), which is just switch on, after one minute swich off.

@@IceRoadTrucker1000 your not superman but people's lives and property are in your hands when in those 5-6 minutes you could be rushing there to help them or their property. It's not rocket science.
@@jefftherailroadenthusiast8889 I know its a year old comment but 5 to 6 us great timing for a volunteer fire Department to be able to get the people there and engines roaring out. Alot of volunteer fire depts can take up to 10 to 15 minutes to get rescue out to you. So anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes is great response time for a volunteer dept
I love this sound. I was a volunteer for over 10 years.
volunteer firefighter/paramedic here.
I remember this back home in Europe 1964 has my father run out of the house and speed to the fire station, those were great times to remember.
today a lot of vfd´s are dispatch with a Siren (only) or in a combination with a Pager

Fmartinjr knows this place really well 😀
I am sure he.does👍
to let them know when a fire or accident call comes In over the scanner.
It's on a timer and that's how it stops
In the beginning of the video Is that a siren or is that another fire truck responding?
waste management fan11 thanks for the Video.
waste management fan11 hi
So freaking cool thanks for the video
Yeah I loved it ringing in my ears that day.
This sirens motor is wearing down that's why it winds up slowly
trashtruck fann11 And its single phase
Did it use to wind up quickly in the past?
@@TheMatsushitaMan yes it did. I always used to hear it when I visited my friend in newport delaware.
@@jefftherailroadenthusiast8889 What about the peak pitch?
Still the same?
Thanks For the video STH 10 Station 23
I hope they keep it in service for more years to come.
Old and awesomely loud😎😎😎
Where is the siren mounted?
It's mounted up top in the back of the station on the roof.
Run!
Yes, In the general area was a gas leak call
Remember this!
I have one at my local fire station.
Where's your station so I can film it
@@jefftherailroadenthusiast8889 Upper Marlboro VFD
Sounds a bit sick. Seems it's not the 2002 version of the STH-10A in Pottsville PA
Pretty sure thats an STH-10B not A. Just my thought.
It's a old motor
I miss hearing the sirens from Pottsville especially from Yorkville
what time was it when the siren went off
Awesome video btw
Classic fire siren
Why does such a big fire hall have a siren? Don't they have a full time crew?
This is how they used to call for the vol. fire departments before fire pagers
I am aware of that, but this is not a volunteer station.
It's a volunteer company with a very small number of full-time paid firefighters.
infinitecanadian Delaware has huge firehouses
It also gives a warning to nearby traffic to make way for the first responders.
Nice
Thanks 👍👍👍
I fire buff as well! fmartinjr knows that place! All the rigs on his post are from there, most of the time..
RGV Sanitation I thought this place look familiar
@@thomasleonard2564 yeah it's newport delaware station 23 the best station around.
If it's volunteer how keep the fire station ? And who pays for truck/station service?
Tax money donations
That's the same siren as the fire company back home has
Why the siren for in house personnel...Partly Volunteer?
Just because it's volunteer doesn't mean nobody's there. At my local department people hang out at the stations fairly frequently/

Sad Volunteer Fire Station Sirens are almost thing of the Past
My Station has a Federal 3t22 for our house siren

Run Goofy...Run
Very slow turn out
that sounds so old.
as I was walking...my fire buff scanner caught this (yawn) video!
Slow response
...slow response? If its an empty station with all volunteers, you cant expect trucks out the door for at least 5-6 min. We're not superman.

Hope the fire stations in Washington do not have sirens like that Trump would start WW3 !!
After 3.30 WTH was that about??
I think he was waiting for more units to come by, seeing as there's a highway on-ramp where he was standing.
No I thought they were coming up Maryland Ave as they usually do but they didn't come that way. They went towards Stanton area by route 7.
Slow response
3 minutes for a volunteer fire company is fast genuis. What planet do u come from?
