I've been eyeballing this cam for a while for mixed street and HPDE. Thanks for the video. I currently have a GMPP Hot Cam on my bench waiting for install into my LS1 C5. I can't decide if I want to ditch it for the Track Weapon.

The hot cam doesn’t have nearly as much lift as this does, this as close as you can get to the C5R power curve without sacrificing reliability and streeability

The c5 and c6r had restrictor plates that limited HP so they short shift and use all the torque. It was a means to an end because of the restriction very similar to wrc. Unless you're in an hp limited class, that cam is pretty much the smallest upgrade over stock you can really manage.

They also did it for longevity, for endurance racing. Also, coming out of turns is where you want the most power and you’re usually in the mid range when you’re doing that so that’s why they want more torque. This gained 100whp over stock so I’d hardly call that a small upgrade lol.

@@LowBoostFilms This comment is 'a cope at every level. The previous commenter was exactly spot on with the reason that the engines were limited RPM, and focused on the torque curve of the induction setup that was being used. They had an air restrictor inlet box that led to ITBs. They were operating within class rules for induction CFM, therefore they were limiting RPM based on cubic inch. Pick whatever cam you want, just know that the one they were using was basically for a truck.

@@woopyassfor track racing honestly a truck cam is gonna be better than a max effort high rpm cam. Coming out of turns I’m at 3500-4500 constantly. A high RPM cam is going to sacrifice its torque down low, and by the time I’m up in the rev range to use that horsepower I’m already braking for the next turn in many cases. if I tried to down shift and stay 6000-8000 rpm, not only would it cost me significantly more to build an engine to be able to do that, it wouldn’t last nearly as long, and I would most certainly cook my power steering system.

If your truly racing a car your not using low rpm…. If you need a low rpm cam, it’s because you can’t heel to toe downshift and sounds like your running stock gear ratio to. You basically selected a cam that a man is trying to sell you.

Did you not hear what Dale said? Max hp on the C5R was 6200, yes I know how to heel toe lmao. Nobody sold me the cam. I had it built to my specifications and now they sell it on their website. You mean to tell me you’re in high rpm all the time coming out of every turn? Impossible

@@LowBoostFilms Don't worry man he's never built a race car ever 🤡🤡. Awesome Awesome C5!! Will never forget watching the C5Rs and Pratt and Miller just dominate those years!🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💪💪💪

Many ways to skin a cat. Sometimes using slightly lower rev range in corners will grant you 0.25sec because you didn't perform an extra gear change.

@@jarlnieminen4307yea if I’m in second instead of third in most corners of the tracks I go to I’m way up in the revs and will have to shift a lot more, plus it’s a lot more heat for the power steering pump. I’ve blown 3 racks like that lol.
