Funny you say Mandela Effect - I was clubbing from 1984-1990 and never knew they swapped them out, but always thought after 1987 - Damn I remember them being much sexier and more synchronized. Alé Lorenzo is the Lead Vocalist on the original version of "Point Of No Return" which was released in November, 1983 on the Pantera label, Arista Label in February, 1985 and "Exposed To Love" which was released in November, 1985.

For for me, who experienced the exhilaration and excitement of the disco era, I longed for more of the disco sound and mourned its passing. Then at a Christmas party in 1985 we heard this play and knew that disco lived on in this song. So good it was, that we broke out in a hustle. 1980's dance music didn't get any better than this.

they were the originals......they recorded the whole album....but then...they brought gioia...ann.and jeanette and they re-recorded the album....but...they kept the backgrounds vocals of the original 3!!!
Some of the original vocals must’ve been leaked or something because I know my first cassette sounded more like this but the hit version that we all know definitely wasn’t what was on my cassette
@@waynejones7769 if you are lucky enough to get the the first pressing of the exposure album on vinyl, then you will get the original version of "point of no return" with ale singing the lead. otherwise "exposed to love" is the only song on the exposure album that were original. to this day that song has never been re-recorded.
I didn't know about the original singers up until a few years ago when I heard about "Expose singer" Sandra Casanas passing in the news. I knew the 1987 version of the group and never heard her name before so I searched the groups history. Now I know. Not too much detailed info on the original group. I'd like to know why they were all replaced.

I’m sure the original ladies were all good people but nothing compares to the musical talent Ann Jeanette and Gioia brought to the group when you listen to the arrangements on the second album for example the original ladies could never pull that off absolutely no offense but that’s just reality.

I thought it veered to far into soul/pop and really lost the catch melodic Freestyle sound that I really liked. To be honest, I liked Ann's voice, but Jeanette and Gioia (while good singers) are too "big voice" type of singers. They had their own thing, but I fell in love with the first two records released by Expose--and both of those featured the original girls.
It competed against Duran Duran with the Reflex, Tenna Marie with Lovergirl in which RI 104 WERI Providence and Boston HitRadio 103.3 WHTT played it ad nauseum. Kiss 95.7 debuted as CHR July 1984.

I love Ale because she's cute & adorable...and I normally tend to be partial to original lineups...In this case, IMO,....Jeannette/Ale, have their own unique vocal lead,..Although, I feel I am able to sink my teeth better into Jeanette's range. She's truly mesmerizing to watch and listen to. She moves on stage in a silky smooth manner! Janette Jurado, a proud Mexican~American, does likewise and is a great Lead Vocalist, but Janette adds "Soul Based" Vocal inflections alá Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle which are cool but I've heard so many times from 1980s Singers. I am a proud Mexican~American and I am not a bigot! I'm 66 years old now and was in my 20's when "Freestyle" came out and was proud it originated from Latino neighborhoods in New York Florida etc... and music producers such as Lewis Martineé. It was the label that they got signed to ( Arista ). They saw Sandee as not fitting for the group, then Ale left soon after and it was just Laurie, so they just ended up getting all new girls.
The producers hit it big and money was flowing as was coke, hookers and other mayhem and it seems although these girls put on a sexy show they were all very sweet women and didn't want a part of that.
That was Ale, the girlfriend of the guy who wrote and produced the songs. She wasn’t a singer. She stepped in at the last minute to get the demo recorded. Jeannette is a professional singer, no comparison. That said, it was Ale’s voice behind the original song that blew up in South Florida and spread through the club scene like wildfire. It was Ale and these girls that played to packed venues wherever they went. I saw them perform live four times, each show bigger than the last. These three girls gathered tremendous support all over the country, leading to the eventual signing by a major label. Then they went silent for a while until the long awaited Expose album finally made it to the record stores. I bought it the first day it was released. I looked at the cover and was like who are these three females in the picture? Then I heard a totally new set of voices on the tracks. Never bought another Expose item afterwards. These 3 ladies won my heart, not the three imposters on the album cover. Don’t care about Jeanette’s voice, they could have picked any of thousands of pro female studio singers to step in and sound the same.

You see, Jeanette Jurado is an excellent Lead Vocalist, but she tends to throw in ad libs that are "Soul Vocal infections"! They're cliches! We've heard them all before! Alejandra's Vocal infections are not "Soul based"! "Ale" sings with a young lady's passionate purity! She's very cute and sexy at the same time! This was all we had before the group blew up. No one was recording these shows. Video cameras were bulky and expensive, not to mention crap quality. We didn’t know the professional recordings would show three other females.
