I made an error describing top wood - it’s Redwood Burl - not Rosewood😀
this randomly popped up on my suggested videos. You're awesome! Your joy radiates
Oh thank you! Just realised I forgot to mention the Krivo humbucker pickup. Oh well age will do that😀
That's one of if not the prettiest guitars I've ever seen.
What a great musician! I loved your knowledge, not just of music, but of the guitar and it's setup. I'm inspired by your knowledge, and musicianship, thank you.
Thank you
Glad you started a channel. Commonsense guitar channels are rare on UA-cam. Best of health and best wishes - Ev
Thank you! I appreciate your support❤️
Agreed! Great find! Im working on a guitar channel, too. Nothing fancy. Just me and my guitars. I’m here on YT occasionally, but mostly on Rumble for now. I’m working on my video library now for upload to YT. -Southbound
Wonderful review. I've seen other carbon fibers, but never this one. Very lovely instrument with many high-end appointments. You've made me want one for the collection.
It's definitely a wonderful instrument. You won't be disappointed. 😃
i like to go on youtube and listen to people play guitar while i study for exams because i just started playing myself. This video popped up randomly, you're a high-caliber guitarist. Keep it up, would love to see you do guitar covers. Very inspirational, I gotta practice more!
Thank you - I wish you the very best in your studies - both musical and scholastics!
You always have great reviews of guitars. Lots of detail and knowledge of the instruments. Not to mention really nice playing.
Thank you!
Great review, ma'am. I have a similar X20 (except mine has K&K mini and a ghost), which I love. It also has an exceptional acoustic sound for a CF guitar (or any guitar, actually). You idea of a soundhole cover is brilliant. If anyone is interested, this company really stands by its product. I had a bridge piece snap for some reason, and they sent me a replacement by return of post. You play very nicely, by the way.
I wondered about the k&k /ghost combination instead of the krivo /ghost - sometimes I hit the krivo with my thumb when I play finger style using a thumb pick. Thanks for the kind words. It’s nice to hear from another Emerald guitar player.
Discovered your channel this evening while looking for reviews of Guild guitars (I’m looking for a new gigging acoustic). I’m really enjoying your playing, lessons, and reviews. Great, kind personality. I look forward to going through your lessons.
Welcome aboard! So glad you are finding the videos helpful! Thank you for the kind words ❤️
Great review! Thank you for taking the time
Thank you for watching!
Thankyou. A local prosthetic workshop could probably make a piece to go in the sound hole.
That’s an awesome idea. It definitely beats stuffing a small pillow in there. I thought about styrofoam - I am sure that would look ugly 🤣
Amazing sound, thank you for your video!!
Thanks much for the great review! I bought an x30 6 months ago and have fallen in love with it. I love the huge warm sound and the guitar loves a heavy attack but it lacks a bit of punch in the mid to high when finger picking. I think the smaller body will have more of that so I ordered an x10 fully customized. Hope to have it in hand soon!!! Thanks for feeding my UA-cam Emerald addiction in the meantime! 😂
I think the jumbo size would definitely be a bit more pronounced in the low range. You made a great choice to buy the x10! It sounds like it will be a beauty! It's good to have different instruments to use in different situations. The problem is for me, I wish I could have 1 of everything... It may be a disease 🤣 ...But it sure is fun! Thanks for the supportive words!
Interesting guitar. Thanks for sharing. I like your stories too.
Thanks for watching!
just caught this video, wonderful!
Glad you enjoyed it!😀

I own an Emerald X 30 and I agree completely. By far the best guitar I've seen in over 50 years of playing.
I would like to play the virtuoso and the x7. Thanks for the comment and watching.
Lovely playing, and thank you for the review.
Thank you kindly!❤️
This review popped up after watching an Emerald video, itself after a NAMM 2024 video.
A nice review, and interesting. Inclines (at some point) to maybe purchase. But there's no getting around the fact that it is an expensive guitar, I suppose compensated for by its (to my knowledge) forward-thinking features, and uniqueness. It looks very comfortable to play, (ergonomic?), a very important consideration. Also aesthetically pleasing, equally important, since you're more likely to play it. It's interesting just how much progress is being made in guitar design, some visible at NAMM (only saw on YT).
In any event,
your passion for guitar shines through, in a refreshingly calm manner. Very nice!
It's definitely pricy - if you use the design tool on the website you may be able to shave off some of the extras to get to a lower price ( but it will still have the ouch factor ) thanks for the kind words of support.
Thank you. Just wanted to add that I think your choice of quality instruments is wise, and they are all interesting, e.g. the Veillette, which reminds me of the Puerto Rican Cuatro I bought on a whim. Guitars are usually bought because they are 'better' (they often are), and I've bought numbers of guitars, many for future use. So when I was ready I would try one. Which might be a matter of years. But one cheapie electric 're' tried recently turned out to be one of those where you theoretically don't ever need to buy another guitar.
As for age, I think I'm ahead of you. But for me every day is a new day, with its challenges, and it helps to have attainable objectives. I once visited a church where a lady was exhibiting her marvellous wooden sculptures, which art she started aged 84, an example to us all.
The Cuatro sound interesting. It's so much fun to find these unique instruments. I have a milestone birthday coming up in a couple weeks. It seems so strange to be at this age - seems like I was just 39. Lol. But I have been blessed and am still enjoying each day Abraham Lincoln said “…its not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years “ I think he made a good point.
You are absolutely adorable! Beautiful colour on the top. Great vid, thank you.
Thank you so much!❤️
My first time opinion...Good woman...Good guitar..keep the faith...God bless you.
Thank you
I have an x20 and use the S1 pro live as well. Fantastic instruments and I think the X10 is my next Emerald. Nice playing!
I would love an X7. It also likes like an awesome model. Emerald makes really nice instruments. I had a raining carbon fiber (black ice edition) it was dropped by a guest - it was never the same after I glued it back together. I still miss that guitar. 😲
Hey Cindy, so thrilled to see your channel.
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words and support!
You are awesome! Thanks for the vid! Have you tried the X7 which is a parlour size? I'm looking for a new parlour guitar that retains as much bass as possible and was wondering if they'd still be good that much smaller/thinner.
No I bought the one I have( x10)sight unseen because they are located in Ireland. I saw a new video out with a great comparison so you could hear the difference between the different sizes. I was considering the x7 when I bought this one. I decided on the x10 more because the x7 has a very short neck scale. I was also concerned that it would not project as needed.
I stumbled onto one of these (not sure if a "10" or what) at Guitar Center
in Greenville SC recently. The wood(?) on it looked like The Tree. I don't
guess I've ever played a more unique instrument. The most striking thing
about it to me was the way the sound blows in your face when you play it.
It is as if you want to hear how your normal guitar really sounds, you need
to sit in front of someone else playing it.
I agree. I tried stuffing a small pillow in the sound hole so I could hear it from the amp 😂
nice sound!
They are awesome instruments. Thanks for the support😃
Nicely done !
You are a great musician. And I can see, that you have fallen in love with your excellent guitar. And you can can discribe why. Looks not realy cheap. But you tell the price in the end.👍😄🎵
Thank you! They are awesome instruments for sure. 😄
Love your style!
Thanks so much! So glad you are watching! ❤️
The Sustain on that thing is insane (sorry for the bad poetry).
Awesome review, thanks. I am torn between this and the X20. But, I think I want the humbucker pickup as well, not sure they offer that with the x20. And, like you, I have no need for a midi...yet. So, I think I'll skip that. Seems a little bass/mid heavy on this video. I have a McPherson that is very bass heavy as well. Got an MXR 6 channel pedal eq and it helps a lot with that. Sounds like this might have the same issue as well. What width neck do you have? I'm think of getting a wider neck since I do mostly fingerstyle. Not sure tho. Why I'm watching all these videos, lol.
Thanks for putting this out there. You were great :)
If I were a man I probably would have purchased the x20. Go to the web page and use the design application to see the configurations for the pickup. You can get the humbucker without the midi. If I were to purchase another instrument I would probably buy the virtuo or the thin line x10. For me, at this age it's all about comfort when I am playing live. Mine has the standard neck. 1 11/16” I think you hear a deeper bass because of the way I set up the pickup. I think I was playing through a preamp pedal and boosted the bass. I do love this emerald. I use it a lot playing worship service - contemporary Christian music. Glad you listened in❤️
Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you❤️
Second video. Subbed!! Thanks for the acoustic love!
Thanks for the sub!
Very good , logical review. ( so many idiotic ones out there). And your picking is great!👍
how would you compare this to a "wood" guitar like a Taylor? also, is this tonally more comparable to an Ovation? great demo! :)
I think the emerald is in a class of its own. And to try to compare it to a tailor or to a ovation would be quite difficult because both those instruments have their own sound. As far as playability and the tone that it puts out it would make anybody happy. It’s an awesome guitar. Thanks for listening.❤️
I didn't think you would lie
Sweet guitar
It is so much fun to play!! Thanks for watching!
Sounds like the sustain is
Niiiiiiice and long…
I’ve heard of people using a nerf football to plug the sound hole… I’m an emerald ambassador in south west Michigan… I also have a virtuo and an x10 slimline… (& 9 other emeralds)
Nerf ball. That's a great idea. Think I will try it. 😀 That's a lot of emeralds! They are awesome instruments! ❤️
Liked and subbed!
To cover up the sound port you could check into having one made on a 3D printer. I’m sure that would work well.
That's a great idea too!! Thank you 😀
You beat me to it ! I was going to suggest that.... Anyone out there?? 😊
Looks nice indeed and sounds interesting ... So for the same amount of money you could buy like either a really good Martin, Taylor, Furch, Lowden, Dowina and maybe even other All-Solid wood instruments custom made. What made you want to spend that kind of money on a man-made material rather than organic, natural, amazing sounding real wood? To me the cost is just not justified for a Carbon fiber instrument. They make bath tubs out of it and other kind of stuff, but it doesn't really seem to be great sounding as an instrument.
That's a great question. The only way I can answer is to say, because it is as great a guitar as Martin, Taylor, Furch…. The guitar is in and out of the car a lot. And Where I am at, it can can get hot. The instrument sounds great, plays great and I don't have to be concerned about weather damage. Love my Emerald.
@@guitarnotions Thank you for the kind answer! I only have an older US made Ovation with Carbon Fiber body, that has a Solid Top and sounds amazing, but considering the top is the most important, I can understand why it sounds so good... I've heard from other people that the best sounding CF guitar would be the one made by McPherson, have tried those?
@@77guitarts22 yes I have played Mcpherson both wooden and carbon fiber. (small body carbon fiber) I prefer the emerald. Not because one is better - they are both excellent. The emerald had more pickup options, the contours of the body were more comfortable and the action had less tension. I had the Emerald shipped from Ireland without playing first. So I took a chance based on reviews. So glad I did. 😀
Rainsong guitar’s went out of business
That is so hard to believe. They made nice instruments. Check out Emerald. They cost about the same if you don’t add a lot of extras. I owned a rainsong and really liked it. It unfortunately was dropped and broken, I bought the X10 and there is no going back for me.
Sadly yes, but I’ve got mine! Jumbo 6 and 12 strings… love ‘em. Might add an Emerald Amicus, though.
👍
Thanks😀
Very very nice however, I think I'll stick with my Takemine.
There are some gorgeous takamine guitars like the Santa Fe! Happy picking 😃
way cool
It’s such a wonderful instrument 😄
it has a cup holder, they thought of everything
LOL! Now that's funny!
I'm guessing you aren't gonna demo the cup holder in action :) - good vid, interesting guit @@guitarnotions
That sound hole does look like it could hold a cup LOL!!!@@stephen285
Bulky woolen sock in the sound hole 😀
Never thought about a sock. I think I will try that. I stuffed a small pillow but it stuck out too far. I wish they would just offer a sound hole cover 😃 thanks for the great idea.
@@guitarnotions As a player and luthier I can see your problem. I think your trying to hear the balance of the guitar amplified but the acoustic sound in making that tricky ? A good luthier could make a baffle [ beveled edges ] from some nice timber with thin foam edges that would be a friction fit into to soundhole. Of course at an hourly rate that could become a little expensive. But what price for giving a performance you're happy with?
Honest??
