I have the Laser distance measure and it works pretty good. I do like how I can take a picture with the measurements showing on the photo and you can add voice or typed memos.
I have heard that its hit or miss with the Ryobi Phone works tools. The one thing Ryobi really messed things up on is the complicated registration setup. I do IT work and found the way they did things was very counter intuitive.
I have every Ryobi 18 volt and Tek 4 tools thay have made ( own our own company doing home repairs) and I always check ryobi new tools when they come out. The down fall of this entire line is that Ryobi sells a stand alone tool to replace each and everyone of theses items and some are actually cheaper than these phone add-ons, plus more durable. I did purchase the earbuds and they were so uncomfortable I took them back the same day. Bad thing is I am spent a ton of money over the past 20 years on Ryobi tools and have always been pleased but this Phone Works line will go by the wayside quickly. Still a huge fan of the rest of Ryobis line up
I saw this on tools in action a long time ago. I do not really like the connect to self phone feature because, it wastes to much battery life in my opinion.
I was over to Brian's workshop today and my phone was not compatible with the system either. I have a 2+ year old Motorola Razr M running Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and the app is not compatible with that either. This version of android was release in July of 2014 well before the Ryobi app was released. Not a fan, not a fan one bit.
+KYLE REES it does not need wifi, as in internet to work. It needs a phone that is wifi capable, meaning that it can connect to a wifi source. Each tool is a hotspot that connects to your phone,. it does not stream internet, it streams the data from the tool.
Thats not bad bad i guess i still think some of theese accesories are just over glorified toys meant got gadget freaks who enjoy messing with tools than getting the job done

Each device has its own battery.
