So yes your hair looks slightly “weighed down” however I will
Say it looks softer and a little bit more curl definition

I've been using deva curl products for years, along with brands like shea moisture, mixed chicks, and cantu. I personally do not use any no-poo because the build up is real lol but i haven't tried a low-poo. It also looks like the no poo shampoo was a common denominator for those experiencing the damage from the recent cases. I'm happy that you're exploring and finding ways to protect your natural hair. I can tell a huge difference in those 2-3 weeks! You might enjoy a few more layers for more volume and lift since it's feeling weighed down, and as you mentioned below, diffusing. You might also enjoy finger coiling or a denman brush to train your curls. Much love to you!

I felt the first picture was messy and looked dry. The post result looks defined and healthy. You can totally make the post deva hair with more volume. I don’t feel the products weighted your hair down but gave it shape.

Hair loss happens for various reasons. I don’t like the no poo shampoo, my hair never felt clean, but my hair was fine...no loss, etc. The wave maker I love.

I'm still using my devacurl products and like it. Sometimes I use oiudad, but that one is more expensive. Devacurl works great and cheaper. I do use a normal shampoo 1-2 times per week

Hi Claudia! I’ve never tried ouidad, but I’ll take a look at that well. Otherwise, I’ve still been enjoying Deva Curl (and repurchased a few times now). Thanks for your comment 😊

I've never had an issue with Deva. My advice would DEF be to diffuse your hair. The end results would be a lot better. Diffusing helps define waves/curls & get volume. If your hair feels weighed down use less cream as well.

I definitely need to start diffusing! It seems like that could help solve my volume issue. Thanks for the comment :)

I use the tiniest amount of product on my hair. 2 pumps total for shoulder blade length hair, and it makes a huge difference with volume. Are you washing it every day?

The fact that you keep saying how moisturized your hair felt makes me think maybe these products might be TOO heavy and moisturizing for your hair type. (There is such a thing as too much moisture) it also looks like your ends are damaged probably from color (I'm assuming lol) and if you had a trim it would probably make the curl pattern much nicer. I've had the problem before going to long between cuts with colored hair and my curl pattern really suffers

Literally im STRUGGLING to find a new conditioner. I need one that is decently priced, will not weigh my hair down (so basically silicone and paraben free), one with not many harsh oils or waxes that would make my hair super greasy, but also one that still keeps my hair hydrated and doesn't strip it. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING SO MUCH. Any recommendations anyone? I have curly wavy hair💕🌀💕

Your hair honestly looks very nice! I've been wanting to try them again lately so I think I finally will. Thank you for this.

I recently started using deva curl (I have VERY little texture to my hair so not everything in the brand works for me) but I had no idea about the allegations.. no wonder they are stocked at Marshall’s.. but I’ve only tried a few things thus far and I haven’t noticed issues I will keep a lookout but honestly I like the products so I’ll probably keep using … 🫣
