I'm Igbo from Nigeria and as a child, my parents would say we are Jews. But since the October 7th incident. I have done a lot of digging of the Jewish people and have seen many similarities between my people and other Jews of the world. This video is informative. and I just learnt that Godfrey is from my village, Arondizuogu in Imo state, Nigeria.
If your parents say you’re a Jew, you are my family. Sending love to you as my sibling, my cousin, whatever the relation. Statistically, we are only one degree apart. May Hashem bless you and your family and your people.

In 2016, a French Jewish filmmaker, named Lauren Gavron,made a film called, Black Jews, The Roots of an Olive Tree. It documents Hebrew tribes in Africa. What inspired Gavron to make the film was, a book written by Edith Bruder, called, The black Jews of Africa, history, identity, religion.
“In sub-Saharan Africa, you can find ‘Judaic’ tribes in Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Uganda, Cameroon, South Africa, Zimbabwe and even in Sao Tome and other countries,” Bruder said.

There’s a guy who is A Black Jewish leader with the name Nate Looney out in LA. Director of the Jewish Equity Diversity team in one of the Branches of the Jewish Federation of North America. I’m not saying that it’s the same as somehow becoming a chief in a tribe that I’m not too sure this Sephardic Jewish man was born in, but I do see more and more Black Jewish leaders and I’m hoping it’s a good sign.

Bias is not necessarily a lie, all people are biased. Having more conversation with different people would be dope but I appreciated that they exchanged ideas and didn't just tell or argue the entire time.

For Black History Month, I wanted to have a discussion on Jews of Africa because I grew up with Prince of Egypt, Joseph King of Dream, and The Queen of Sheba. So, I did a collaboration with my college's BSU, and I learned so much from that. What I didn't know is that the Kingdom of Israel went to Africa, and that conisize what I believe that The Arc of Convent is in Africa and it explains why during The Civil Rights Black and Jews ✡️ work together. Also, I met a Black Israeli at the university, and she was a badass!! I'm glad Rudy is talking about this!
The complex of inferiority that came from Slavery and colonialism combined with Christianity led Black people to fantasise about being Jews. I had a black friend who came from Nigeria to NYC (who I gave clothes to because he came to work the first day with shoes that didn’t fit him and wore the same clothes to work every day), he started working at my construction company as a laborer. He told me that in Africa they told him to stay away black Americans and that they think we’re no good. He was surprised I was so well spoken because he was told he wouldn’t understand us 😂
It was a culture shock for him seeing me smoking weed and hearing the non mainstream rap we listened to.. so I do understand that people can see the norms of a different culture and think they might be bad people. That’s why COMMUNICATION is integral to spark change!

Thank you for having this conversation. I am having to reconcile this now. I can't begin to wrap my head around it, but the genealogy makes sense. My folks are Igbo/Yoruba, Spanish(Iberian Peninsula), French, German, and Polish. All of our last namea reflect Ashkenazi/Sephardi names. I never felt comfortable in church although I went and wanted to learn everything I could, but for me, there was always something missing. I started gravitating towards Jewish people since I was 6 when I had a friend who was Jewish in first grade. I always wanted to go to Synagogue. I ended up playing a gig in a reform Synagogue and I felt so welcomed. Jewish guys and Arab guys were always interested in me, and I always gravitated towards them as well as Latin folks from my diaspora who are most likely part of thr dispersion. I have begun the process of converting. Its an interesting experience. So glad you all are talking about this.

Excellent exchange! I love the way Rudy broke down antisemitism and the commonalities amongst disenfranchised groups. Yoo, this was a wild podcast. Great work Godfrey for allowing the guess to share many great points about his background and experience bringing awareness to truths that he’s learned about our nation. You done a great job not becoming combative and arrogant. The guess showed the me as a viewer what he lacked awareness of just as much as their need to be seen as a people of awareness. Shout out to the guess being on the ground and getting work done in Africa and in the war zone areas. He’s sacrificing he’s time and leisure to be apart of the good fight. Rudy is a super smart and intellectual guy. But it’s clear that he’s not someone to talk about comedy. This is not a subject or environment he understands on a complex level. WITH THAT SAID: this is such an incredible conversation. I really appreciate what he said when talking about Black Hebrew Israelites. As a Jew, I really found that part to be powerful.

I don't think it's relevant whether the comedy is funny or not. It's not antisemitic because of its level of funniness, it's antisemitic for a ton of other reasons.

I think what this conversation really showed is that the divide and conquer tactics are still in effect. The Jewish guy is right to feel a type of way about his race is being portrayed just as blacks are. As a black person it very much feels like we are very much left out dry and can be disrespected by even people in the worst conditions but then again as he said Jews are victims to a lot of hate crimes too. So it's like we are all defensive against each other rather than being United against injustice and oppression

@elijahedwards6571 Jewish and Jews are not the same. Those words are not interchangeable. They are not the same people. Ashkenazi aren't Jews. In order to be a Jew, you must descend from Judah or Israel (Jacob), depending on the context and the time period. Ashkenaz, the ancestor of the Askenazi (they're his namesake), doesn't descend from either of them. So they can't be Jews. Nowhere in history, can you point to any propaganda, that Jewish people owned everything in Germany in order for people to attack their establishments. There are newspapers in Georgia, like the Southeast Georgian, that had ads in them with Jewish people asking for help from starvation and being killed and mistreated as early as 1913. (Hitler must've had a time machine.) I can continue but it's a lot of typing. The point is, dude sounds real smooth and informed but he's spouting a lot of lies.

The 13th Tribe by Arthur Kossler (check spelling) has some good information about how the Zionists and the Jewish are connected. From Hebrews to Negroes, even if you don't agree with the opinions in the book, his studies and findings on genetics and ancestry are impeccable. From Babylon to Timbuktu, Rudolph R. Windsor, is another good history of the Jews. If you're serious, that's more than enough to get you started and pique your interest.
