I listened my crystal set in school in 1959. It was only possible at window seat, The ground wire was connected to the radiator and antenna was connected to the curtain rod. I had special tuning for Luxembourg Rock Radio, because Finnish Radio played only classical music and sermons about dental hygiene.
About 100 years later we're watching a scene from 100 years ago on a device that fits on one hand. Too bad I won't live to see what happens 100 years later

My great grandmother would tell us all the time how her brother built our families first radio. In her dementia she would tell us like it had just taken place. It was definitely one of her foundest memories. It was during the great depression as well.
The lady stage right is attractive. Some times I get this thought that people were less attractive in older times, but same body and bone structure as today.
We just have more access to beauty products now, that’s all. We had pretty awful makeup and beauty treatments up until the golden era of Hollywood, and makeup artists launching lines that used actresses to sell them en masse to people. Back then we had pretty much just lip stains and basic powder. Couldn’t even really wash your hair very well at home.

My attention went 100% to the woman on the right although they look quite a bit similar, and they are both quite attractive. She does a little show of stress/tension with her mouth right before it cuts off. I find that to be very modern in a way. The older i get, the closer history seems. Also i find it interesting that all the subjects are female. The turntable/radio operator clip also seems modern as the camera pans left to follow the action. This clip is very intriguing.
