  • This is an installation video for a Cat (Primary Muffler) Delete from Baldwin's Iron Works. 2014 Spyder RT 1330
    One of the biggest benefits of using this pipe is the reduction of heat coming up through the seat area of the Spyder.

    I appreciate that you didn’t edit out the times when you encountered a little difficulty getting those springs connected when installing the pipe. Excellent DIY video!

    Ordered my kit for my 17 RTL last week and received it Thursday, installed it this morning without the baffle and left the original exhaust. Love the way it sounds. Very throaty growl and I noticed there was some burbling when my SE6 was down shifting when stopping for a light. Glad I saw your video before I installed this as I probably would have put the baffle in. Glad I found your video. Everyone ride safe.

    I stopped by Baldwin's shop last fall on my way to the Ozarks. He built me a pipe, installed it and shipped my OEM cat back for the $200 cost. He is a class guy, and his work is meticulous. He does recommend baffle in/plug off for best combo of sound/performance, but like you, I'll be removing the baffle this week and try it that way. Heck, I rode it 6k miles with the baffle in :)

      We are going on another short trip soon, so I just put my baffle back in, no plug, after about 5,000 miles. I prefer no baffle for the way it sounds, my wife prefers the baffle in, I am just trying to find the best performance.

    • @Danzguy1
      @Danzguy1 3 роки тому +1

      @@ItsYoursOWNIT OK, excuse me for being a little slow but what is the plug? The baffle is the insert in the front of the pipe. What then is the 'plug'? BTW - I'm not a loud exhaust guy. The Harleys that I ride with make enough noise and so I stay in front of them ('19 rtl).

    • @ItsYoursOWNIT
      @ItsYoursOWNIT  3 роки тому +1

      There is a plug with a set-screw that fits in the end of the baffle so the three different “settings available are 1: no baffle, just a straight pipe. 2: baffle installed. or 3: Baffle with the plug installed in the end of it.

      BeanieBoyMoto, I kept the stock muffler and took the baffle out completely. It still is not too loud and I haven’t noticed any mid range lag, but I assume it is because I still have the OEM muffler.
      I saw those RLS pipes and have wondered how they would sound. I don’t think my lovely passenger would put up with anything louder than I have now though.
      I did send my ECM to Wick-It performance to get a Stage 1 Monster Fuel Injection flash this winter. I can definitely tell the difference but am a little disappointed that I still can’t pull a wheelie. 😂 J/K I will know for sure if this was all worth it the next time I am going 80mph, riding two up, pulling my trailer uphill and see if I can hold the speed limit. I’ll keep you posted. 🤙

    So, buddy, I have a 14 RTL, and wondered after just changing the Cat Del., and staying with stock exhaust, did you find any differences? Fuel Milage? Performance?

    • @ItsYoursOWNIT
      @ItsYoursOWNIT  4 роки тому +1

      Well, I didn’t just do a Cat delete. I also sent my ECM in to Wick-It Performance and got a stage 1 tune done from Monster Fuel Injection this winter. I normally get 34 to 40mpg (40 is rare), and 30 to 38 pulling my trailer. The main reason I did these two things is to get better performance pulling my trailer at interstate speeds. Due to the plague, I haven’t had the opportunity to do this yet to see if it handles 80mph, uphill, into a headwind better than it did. I have only put about 500 miles on so far this spring and have got 32mpg so far not pulling the trailer, but I have been pretty liberal with my right hand 😎. I don’t really care about a drop in fuel mileage if the performance is better when pulling my trailer at high speeds. Time will tell , hopefully we can start traveling and camping sooner than later. Thanks for watching.

    • @ItsYoursOWNIT
      @ItsYoursOWNIT  3 роки тому

      No I don’t. It is louder but not obnoxious. An aftermarket muffler would be an option if the delete pipe isn’t enough for you. Honestly, I believe the biggest plus with this pipe is how much heat is done away with by getting rid of the cat. That thing was like having a campfire underneath you.

    If you’re a believer in back pressure don’t do anything that helps increase flow! Back pressure reduces flow which reduces power! Take an engineering fluid dynamics class and learn that engines don’t like backpressure!
