They actually can roll, under the molded wheels they have rollers I pwned a few but lost them Not long ago I saw a bertie model and bought it, it was only after that I learned that it was a checkout
Really nice to see someone finally properly discuss these oddities, I was given Thomas, James and the books from a neighbour so I imagine she got the Daily Mail joblot. I found a Cranky figure recently when I bought a Joblot of interesting little Thomas trinkets so I guess I have that. These toys could roll along with plastic wheels underneath the characters but lack of couplings is a shame.
Nice vidoe i think its weird that james, gordon and other tender engines has his number on his cab and the engines wheels look weird, the diffrent variants of thomas's look as if the people designing the look were pretty lazy or didn't have time to make them look beautifully, also congrats on 1.01k subscribers!😊
The sir topham hatt figure in this range looks kinda similar to the ertl and bachmann models of him, and a fun fact about this range is that the edward model actually has a variant that you can see here at 12:06 ua-cam.com/video/0DI9tWUwhT0/v-deo.htmlsi=98tc-HBzBATgmJx7
Believe ot not this is still available here in Hungary. Well not officialy, but there is a toy shop called Regio Játék which still has 2 troublesome trucks. They retail for less then a 2 dollars (500 forints)😅
I remember seeing these being available at Coles in Australia. I had a regular Thomas years ago, but I a few years ago did I managed to find a checkout Percy at one of my local op shops. Also where did you find this Australian commercial? Because I’ve never seen it before.
Favorite checkout: Cranky and Bertie because of how accurate they look. To me, I prefer the checkout Bertie over the Ertl and Hornby Bertie. Worst Checkout: Emily because I hate the take along Emily model already and the troublesome truck because no way am I keeping my chin up with that truck slagging at the front.
You know I think Annie And Clarabel don’t look as bad but something looks abit off from them that I can’t say what it is, the wide proportions, the grey buffer beams, idk
I like these trains i got spencer and diesel but its not that bad my friend gave them to me cause he did not like them obvi so a did a ocs feom spencer abd diesel is crying somewhere in a corner
@@portablethomas yes but some of your points don't make sence like the engines are to long. well they were ment to be long as it is more realistic and the other ranges using the same characters just look weird as they are well to short and if you had the ertl track they do make it round the corners. also the problem with the tenders is actually a good thing as i have so many take n play and a few wooden railway and Tomy engines all with missing tenders. but my ertl's none are missing. also you say the proportions are off but what kid would actually realise or cear if it is not sized correctly because by your logic take n play is bad as you yourself sead the proportions of the engines where not correct to the tv searys so you cant take points off ertl and give it to take n play if they have the same problem just reversed as they were often mush smaller also if they fixed the size they whould have had to make some engines eather longer or have smaler wheals which haveng new sizes weals for only a few engines would be a wast of money for something that isent much of an ishue also you have to remember Ertl started Thomas in the 1980's so they dident have the technology to make things like how we do now and the faces whould mostlikly have been hand made then mass copeyed and modeling faces easpeshilly that small can be realy difficult! the only things that where bad where the stickers as they did come of easily but if your kids know how to look after toys they don't get that damaged and if you don't leve them out side the running boards also don't get brittle (except the few thin ones. they were bad) and the couplings where bad when it came to being one way and not being able to be connected to other engines till 2002 BUT but also ertl had more moulded detail then most other ranges ranges. so presently i believe you are to hard on the ertl range as there are just as many or more good things about them as there are bad. but also the ranges that replaced them aren't all good either. just think about it.

WHY do you hate ertl so much?
Made a vid on it lol

also you say the proportions are off but what kid would actually realise or cear if it is not sized correctly
because by your logic take n play is bad as you yourself sead the proportions of the engines where not correct to the tv searys so you cant take points off ertl and give it to take n play if they have the same problem just reversed as they were often mush smaller
also if they fixed the size they whould have had to make some engines eather longer or have smaler wheals which haveng new sizes weals for only a few engines would be a wast of money for something that isent much of an ishue
also you have to remember Ertl started Thomas in the 1980's so they dident have the technology to make things like how we do now and the faces whould mostlikly have been hand made then mass copeyed and modeling faces easpeshilly that small can be realy difficult!
the only things that where bad where the stickers as they did come of easily
but if your kids know how to look after toys they don't get that damaged
and if you don't leve them out side the running boards also don't get brittle (except the few thin ones. they were bad)
and the couplings where bad when it came to being one way and not being able to be connected to other engines till 2002 BUT
but also ertl had more moulded detail then most other ranges ranges.
so presently i believe you are to hard on the ertl range as there are just as many or more good things about them as there are bad.
but also the ranges that replaced them aren't all good either.

Because the range is horse manure
I rember this weird Line & they Look Horrible
