I failed to mention the clutch and gearbox. Ooops! These can be an issue if mistreated. Tail tail signs include a whining sound when driving off in 1st-2nd gear. If the noise gets better when you depress the clutch, then it's likely it needs a new clutch.
Mine apparently could have gone on with a bad input shaft bearing on the gearbox for years but the noise was driving me crazy like a grinding noise so got it to my mechanic who has worked on these cars for literally over 15 years and he discovered the bearing was loose and what was happening every time i was driving the bearing was grinding the metal housing of the gearbox away! luckily he was able to replace it with a new clutch and weld up the damage to the input shaft , it should last 5 years before going wrong again , he said to me even if i had paid the £2 grand and got a brand new gearbox it would have been pointless as the bearings Fiat used are a £2 part , I paid £800 for the gearbox repair with new clutch so saved myself £1200 also the Pop version don't have AC , luckily for me i have the lounger version and i also had the bad door handle issue , gorilla glued it and now its fine LOL
As someone who has owned both a 1.2 and a Twinair, I'd say don't discount the Twinair! As long as it's been serviced at the correct intervals using the correct oils etc you have nothing to fear! The 875cc 2 cylinder Twinair actually produces way more power and torque than the 1.2 It will be cheaper to service, more economical to run. The quirky nature of the Twinair is a more authentic match to what the 500 is all about and it's heritage, the original concept was always based on a small low capacity cheap to run engine and the noise it makes always puts a smile on my face! 😊
I think that you ARE an expert when it comes to the Fiat 500. I find your videos hugely helpful and have been a source of comfort and reassurance as I see you battle with some of the issues I face with my 500 Lounge. I have the dreaded hatch wiring loom issue, and also the water sloshing in the scuttle area, which you've now shown how to check and resolve.
I’m on my third Fiat 500 as I love them so much a silver diesel then second a white 500 lounge ….I’ve now got a red 2014 lounge Fiat 500 around three years ago….I loved the colour until you mentioned about the red ones also recently my mileage is flashing and the Bluetooth needs repairing but at the moment I’ve bought a Bluetooth that fits in the cigarette lighter port but now I’m wanting to change my car for a different colour. 😫😫😫
It's a very complete review! What is the threshold mileage for when these engines start using oil? For instance, my 2012 Volvo S60 T4 with the B4164T engine (Ford Europe Sigma) with 130,000 Km is using 1 liter per 1,000 kilometers.
I think the engine is very good at using the oil, it's more about the leak from the sump that gets to be the issue. That can happen at anytime....although around 10yrs is when the sump starts to leak I've found.
My Ford S-Max 1.8 TDCI year 2006 and 300,000 KMS, no oil consumption! Also have a Fiat Marea Weekend 1.9 JTD from the year 2000 with 320,000 KMS, also no oil consumption!
Hi Alex, my daughter has just got a fiat 500 twinair 2011 model lounge. How does she change her language from Italian to English please. We have gone through the process on google & UA-cam. It doesn’t seem to set to English. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Davey 👍
Is this on the Speedo?? There should be a language display in the menu. I would use Google translate, hold the phone to the menu and let it translate all the txt to English. There should be an option to change it??
@@J.J1971 Hmmm...well we just bought one with low milage - off the internet so sight unseen (ooh err!!) so I'll let you know. This one is the dualogic...
That Blue and Me thing what a scam that was by Fiat they should never have had it put in such a stupid place , the module should have been in the boot behind a removeable plastic panel not behind the whole rear frame of the passenger side lol I've just left mine as is , my mechanic said not to worry as it would take probably a week to drain the battery flat so as long as i daily drive it i should be putting enough charge back into the battery me hopes lol
Definitely be alot easier if it was under the seat. When you look how much it is to get it fixed and the labour costs, it can be alot of money!! Incidentally, are you close to Farnham?

Mine has lost a few exhaust clamps and suffers with losing gearbox oil, I’m needing another gearbox again 😭
I love this Alex, I’m like yep I’ve had 3 door handles replaced, I’ve got broken vents inside 🙈😂

Amazing video!

Really enjoyed this video. I’m currently looking for an auto transmission model for my wife… any observations will be welcome! Thanks…
I heard somewhere to avoid the autos..?

How has it gone?
Autos are popular and they hold their value well, but yes, they aren't the most reliable is my understanding.
If you took the Bluetooth module out altogether is there a way to stop the mileage flashing? Thanks
Not really without software to tell it.
What milage would you say is ideal to buy for 2011=2013? I am looking at 1.2 lounge with 80k milage purple colour would you say its good milage?
Average a year is around 10k. So on a car that's 13years old, that's about right to be honest.
@@carsalvage101 I bought a 4k miles 2023 for 3300 I am going to try to sell for 4500 and make profit but I thiunk thats maybe too much of a price.
@alitoto5452 that sounds far too cheap if it's a 2023 model?!

@christineayres7199 I'd guess I'm within 5 miles of you. So if you want any work done, let me know.

Soon we start our 50000km European tour in a 53 year old Fiat 500R. Check it out!
Easy: DON'T!
Not that bad providing they are looked after well
so the whole car is crap? got it.
Any car is "crap" if you focus only on the negatives. This car is one of the best if not top choice for those who are looking for a great city car

JUST BUY A CITROEN C1 100X BETTER 😂 SERIOUSLY

French cars are shit
Drove one as a loaner, a seriously annoying car to drive.
Great joke.
