Thanks, if you've seen my other videos I'm sure you see that my kit changes from outing to outing in order to suit that particular event. What do you carry?😃
@@offthecouch1999 I have a video [Haversack (German military bread bag)] of a bag I had & loved. Unfortunately I gave it to my girlfriend of 3 years & just recently we broke up. She absolutely loves the little bag & uses it a lot. I just got me & modified a Czech Military bread bag that I will make a short video on ASAP.
I truly believe that in the woods is like being in someone's house. Treat it with respect! Leave no trace, pack out what ever you brought in,and exercise extreme caution and common sense when using fire! Prepare for an emergency situation such as accidents or getting stuck out over night and most important, LET SOMEONE KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND WHEN YOU WILL BE BACK AND DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE PLAN! DON'T TRUST CELL PHONES! AND CARRY A COMPASS (know how to use it)
Amen to that. I have lost a few friends to the Appalachian trail due to a lack of preparation. We hiked together on the whole trail before and their passing shows that even experienced people can be negligent.
I like to use haversack scouting, use a Finnish gas mask bag. Like to travel lite. Fix blade bushcraft knife, usually my Garberg, SAN, and silky saw, don’t take a hatchet. Wear a fold up dump pouch to use for gathering fat wood etc, monocular, GI canteen and cup, poncho, small space blanket.
I'm really lovin processing fatwood with my dads bandsaw, got about a cheap 2qt stuffsack full of 6" x 1/2" (or close to it, I just eye'd the size) pieces with a couple pieces in each pack I have, enough to last a lifetime.
@@denofearthundertheeverlast5138 it smells so good and it's addicting, and I'll tell you right now. I love the lack of cleanup. It burns down to a soot, so I don't have to worry about coals. When i'm on the move. You stay safe out there
This is a Czech bandage you can get them from sportsman's guide I do believe they are still available just type in czech bandage a 10 pack was like eight bucks
I like the miliatary tent peg with cordage idea. I think I will start to use that method.
Thank you my friend I love that peg for more than just those two reasons. You will see the other 1000 uses if you stay tuned lol.
Very nice video. New subscriber here. Love the respect for the landscape
Thanks a ton my friend stay tuned for More.
And yes you have to have respect for it or it will be destroyed and no better than the streets of a Town
@@offthecouch1999 you are 💯 correct on that!

Sorry folks my editor missed the 2 quart canteen writing somehow
Good advice. We don't look for a garbage dump to camp, but somewhere clean and natural. Do the same for the next guy so he can enjoy it, too.
@@rafterL78 thanks. Glad you enjoyed

How do you like the Finnish bag?
@@offthecouch1999 I really like it, very functional and I like that traditional look
Yes and they are honestly more comfortable than a backpack holding in all that heat when you hike
