    I was always the "invisible one" in any social situation until I started wearing a kilt. The more I wear it, the more I have strangers approach to make comments or start a conversation about clans and kilts. Yesterday I got the obligatory question about if I had bagpipes. 🤣

    • @timothycampbell495
      @timothycampbell495 2 роки тому +7

      I also get the occasional bagpipe comment/question. However, I can truthfully answer "Yes, yes I do!" I don't bother to mention that I suck at it LOL

      Was in a Scottish regiment wasn't a bagpipe question but if I was wearing the kilt regimental or not.

      The two most asked questions I get are (1) do you go/ are you going commando, and (2) do you play the bagpipes. Answer to Q1 is yes always, and Q2 answer is no.
      I have had six women in three years that were super friendly to me while I was on the town, but they each backed off when I casually threw out that I am married. I am used to the paparazzi cameras now... I get compliments and insults from both guys and girls regularly, which I find entertaining. My wife (if she spots another female eyeing my bodybuilder frame/muscles or kilt) has been known to stop what she is doing and french kiss me in front of them, no matter the time or place. 😂 Yet she keeps encouraging me to wear and purchase kilts; she keeps telling me that she loves to see me wearing kilts.

    I used to get really annoyed about being asked what was under the kilt in my early marriage years. Try asking a female what’s under your skirt? The double standard used to bother me, but now I think it’s a fair way to strike a conversation. Bottom line is i take myself less seriously these days I guess.
    To be honest I prefer trews now though

      It's not how you accessorize the kilt you wear. It's the tilt of the kilt that interests her.

    Honestly... I wear the kilt for me not for others. I've gotten compliments, curiosity and attention... I've also had the odd person try to start static... But all that comes with the decision to wear one in the first place.

    As I have posted, I am "kilted" 7 days a week much of the year and I am in my early 70s. The biggest "issue" my wife and I have to deal with is women walking up to me and flirting with me when I am with my wife, treating her like she was The Invisible Woman. Happily, she has gotten used to it and knows I have awarded her total "property rights" over me.
    My theory regarding being attractive to woman while kilted is their apparent belief that you must be confident and self-assured to be kilted in public and that makes you more interesting.

    Not a problem for me. They never wanted me before and nothings changed except my comfort.

  • @markchriestenson3257

    I never had a problem like that before. I have had comments from guys about my kilt but never from women. I have had looks from women, but that was far as it goes. I think my wife is probably fine with that.

    Definitely true! I was kilted up in Gatlinburg and three lovely Brazilian ladies came up to me and wanted a picture with me. My wife obligingly took the picture for them. The next morning we were in line for breakfast and I was in pants (don’t like to drive long distances in the kilt) and the same three lovely lasses walked up and stood right next to me. Didn’t even acknowledge me or realize that they had taken their picture with me the previous day!

    I think what y'all were trying to say is "Women typically find a man in a kilt attractive, make sure you handle the extra attention well, cuz it's the kilt- not you..."

    • @maxwellfan55
      @maxwellfan55 2 роки тому +6

      Actually is mostly the kilt AND you, so enjoy!

    • @timothycampbell495

      I dont know... Going about kilted is actually a subtle confidence booster , at least for me. My spine gets a little straighter, shoulders get more square, chest gets higher, my gait displays a little more determination and purpose. The overall image I project is more... myself!

    • @maxwellfan55
      @maxwellfan55 2 роки тому +2

      @@timothycampbell495 Exactly! The kilt has the subtle effect of enhancing deportment when standing, walking and especially sitting (knees together guys). As well as catching curiosity and admiration from women AND men (who are mainly envious).
      So the woman becomes attracted to both the kilt AND the wearer. Ditto a man if so inclined.

    I absolutely love seeing men in kilts -- it's that whole confidence thing. But along with that confidence, I also like to see a good personality, including grace (which, yes, men can definitely have). If a man I'm on a date with is approached about his kilt, I'd like to see him answer the person's question or have a quick discussion with them about it, and to do so graciously, without thinking he was better than or irritated by them. Social graces really do still have a place in society.

    Flirt with elderly ladies when wearing your kilt. They and you all know it's fun, but it's FUN fun and... other (younger) ladies will be charmed by your charm.

    I always have people approach me, both walking around where I live in a kilt, and when hiking in a kilt (or a Great Kilt). Even when going into a shop for groceries people with speak with you when you are kilted. I think that you should wear a kilt for yourself, not to get attention, however you will get attention no matter what. I think it's just how you handle yourself depending on the situation at the time. Be respectful, explain why you wear a kilt if asked, wear the kilt with pride.

    In a nearby small town, when going to breakfast there, or for an evening of music, I would nearly always wear a kilt (with nothing but positive reactions). Recently, over several days, I showed up in jeans, and was poked at so much that I swore I "would never wear pants again in .....Ville. No one quite got the joke.

    I've put kilted photos of me on dating sites and most of the messages I got from other people were "I want to find out what you wear under your kilt!", "I want to have sex with you while you wear your kilt", etc. On one hand, I want to look my best (and not give the other person a surprise if I show up to a date in a kilt) but ultimately a lot of people see my kilt as a fetish for better or worse.

    I am openly gay and wear a kilt regularly. I get guys and ladies interested in me all the time but so some reason the ladies are way more interested. It really sucks. But my husband finds this hilarious and gets enjoyment being protective of me. What does other people's spouses do when people are interested in your kilt?

    • @itsapittie
      @itsapittie 2 роки тому +1

      My ex-wife was the jealous sort and would get really defensive. I suspect the spouse's reaction is mostly a factor of his/her underlying personality and self-confidence. A confident person will be less concerned about attention their SO gets from other people.

      My wife pretends to get annoyed when other random women make complimentary (and ocassionally borderline inappropriate) comments. The reality is, it makes her proud to be on my arm and know that I am hers.

    Attention for better or worse when kilted.
    Both, I'm afraid.
    Worse. Once had this weird guy following me around town wanting to know if I wore underwear.
    Better. Attractive woman in supermarket. Stopped directly in front, eyeballed me head to toe....look of amazement.... then.... "WOW!"
    Yea I know... should have got her number.

    Wearing a kilt is a lot like wearing a uniform. I will add to the confirmation that women who are in the Ted Williams batting average range that were you just in civvies as it were, would never even think of even dialing 911 if you clutched your chest and dropped over in front of them. The only thing that's better than a kilt in my experience was a set of USMC Dress Blues.

    A lot of people think it's cool that I'm 6'5 and have the confidence to wear a "skirt". Most pants don't fit my leg length anyway.
