Update. Kala confirmed today, a few days after launch that the back and sides are actually solid after all. The body and neck are one long solid piece with two pieces glued either side of the body... creating a 3 piece solid wood back. 😂 this is not immediately clear upon inspection and it took a while to get a confirmation. Apologies
“If I thought they were shit, I just wouldn’t sell them.” Spot on - I can’t believe someone would doubt your honesty in the reviews, Alex. Yeah, yeah, you want to hawk your wares, but your reviews are quite thorough and absolutely thoughtful. I never miss them, and I always learn so much from you. Frankly, you’re the most knowledgeable reviewer out there!
Thank you for the introduction to this new model. Always appreciate learning more. Kala did good to add fret dots and a 38 width neck. Your string change was also a great move. I suspect that this unique design, at this price point, will make this a popular model. All the best! Thanks
I have what is supposedly a Night Owl prototype. The body looks exactly the same but there are a few differences with the rest of it. It has a pin bridge with no pins but does have the pick up. No fret markers but does have the silhouette of what looks like a mountain on the head stock and 7th fret. No finish and no tuners. Real prototype or not, it was well made and cool to have.
Hi, thanks for the Night Owl description. I have some nice ukes, such as Fireball, but UAS made me to look for something fresh and I was thinking about buying this Kala, but laminate back is rather disappointing, and the price is still very high - as for half-laminate uke. Best regards from Poland, Michał 🐸
Sold out to China again. Such a shame. For around £500 you can get a custom made from reclaimed timber from Tin Guitars in the UK. There are a couple of other UK luthiers also so spend your money with them. Better for economy and the planet
@@gjmmusic7559 £1500 would buy you a really nice custom made Uke made in this country, Peter Howlett would make you one (ok he is in Wales) , or Rob Collins. They would both make a hollow bodied thin.
If Pete had been able to invest in a far east made affordable version of the revelator before selling to Kala he would have. Having something more affordable made outside of the UK in bulk where the machinery and resources are already in place is simply how something like the Night Owl gets made in high numbers and reaches a wider audience. I don't really get why this is selling out to China when a US made version is available at a price relative to other US manufacturing is out there. You're holding a Pono in your profile photo which itself is a far east made Ko'olau Ukulele. Finally, the Pete Howlett custom uke I had on display at Cheltenham was nearly £4000
@@SouthernUkuleleStore It has nothing to do with a US version, or Indonesian, though thank you for selling me that instrument 🙂. I'm not perfect in buying everything that suits my ideal, its just impossible, but I do my best. Let's hope that when inevitably all products are manufactured over there, we all don't live to regret it.

Great run through, they do sound lovely, with your string change👍. Thanks for the demo.
Ok, this is the first Revelatory that I really like!
EXCELLENT video this Alex - yes I will be reviewing it soon and don't tend to give my views away, but think you got this spot on.
Great review. I'd like to look at it.
Another great video 👍.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you
Fantastic video Alex!!
Thank you very much!

So sad I’m in Kazakhstan and don’t have an option to try them :(

I mean, you could opt for the US Version if your pockets are deep enough? You have options.

I can get behind that. I'd love to see more UK factory scale production before it's too late
