    I started practicing with more accuracy like you said and it has made world of difference for me! Thank you so much, I can see myself improve, I was stuck in a rut for such a long time and now I can see myself moving forward. Bought both of the books btw, they are great, helps keep my practice session structured!
    Thanks again sir!

    I fully agree about overthinking. I went through a phase where I was almost paralyzed from "observing" myself too much when playing and felt like I had lost skill and fluidity. At some point I had to force myself to play "carelessly".
    Great vid, thanks Jon.
    PS: "shoelaces speed burst" got me 🤣

    That’s a phrase we use when teaching CQB techniques to our partners and students. It absolutely applies in both situations 😊. I still remember when I asked you about upward our downward pick slanting and which I should try etc and you said told me exactly what you said in this video. I was definitely overthinking it and getting myself all wadded up! Thanks for this reminder lol

    Great explanation on the concepts on your strengths/strategy for the achievement of limited waste of movement and muscle fatigue when playing runs, across the fretboards,arpeggios, legato... Thanks again for everything you do for us her on your channel!! Reminds me of what Wes Montgomery said many times.....🤟🤟🤘

    What if I play six notes of quarter note sixtuplets with planting, and then 6 notes of 16th note sixtuplets with speed burst? What about that kind of exercise? 🤔
    (6 slow notes and 6 notes x4 times faster)

    Great lesson, you're a great educator Jon. A phrase I heard in a non guitar playing setting, it was actually about the golf swing but I think it applies to any form of mechanics with the body, 'over analysing leads to a paralysis of analysis'

    I love your attitude and your videos. Overall Troy Grady was the best thing that ever happened to me for my technique. He provided a great base for my right hand.
    However, I learn so much from you and many other players, and even myself through trial and error. Your systematic approach and starting slow really works and resonates with me. It is something I discovered through jiu jitsu and reading books on athletic training and brain science. It carries over so well to music. Plus I love to boil things down to first principles.
    Thank you for all your wonderful content.

    Hey Jon, I love your lessons but it may just be me, but it looks like you’re smacking the fuck out of the strings, even without the amp I can hear them clearly. But in a controlled way, does that make sense? Is it possible to play too softly?

    • @JonBjork
      @JonBjork  10 місяців тому +1

      Tone is extremely subjective so it’s hard to say that someone is playing too soft or hard. I definitely think you can play too softly for MY preference but at the end of the day it’s up to each individual player😊
