- Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is defined by difficulty getting and keeping an erection. Erectile dysfunction can be a sign of a physical or psychological condition. It can cause stress, relationship strain and low self-confidence.
Sometimes a combination of physical and psychological issues causes erectile dysfunction. For instance, a minor physical condition that slows your sexual response might cause anxiety about maintaining an erection. The resulting anxiety can lead to or worsen erectile dysfunction
There are mainly 3 types of ED identified in Men:
1) Psychogenic ED: It is defined as the persistent inability to achieve or maintain erection satisfactory for sexual performance owing predominantly or exclusively to psychological or interpersonal factors.
2) Arteriogenic ED: It is caused by insufficient arterial blood supply to the cavernous bodies regardless of the arterial disease or abnormality responsible for the insufficiency.
3) Venogenic ED: It is defined as the failure of adequate venous blood retention in the penis during penile erection secondary to venous leakage

For many people, erectile dysfunction is caused or worsened by lifestyle choices. Here are some steps that might help:
1) If you smoke, quit.
2) Lose excess pounds.
3) Include physical activity in your daily routine.

There are two main types of penile implants, semirigid and inflatable. Each type of penile implant works differently and has various pros and cons.
