I find it amazing that so many posters fail to understand that this video shows Charlie in his larger quarantine cage after he left the zoo. Quarantine is always required when moving animals to a different country, even for pets. He would have been quarantined again when he reached Brazil. Hopefully he eventually made it to the sanctuary, but just because there is not a follow-up video doesn’t mean he isn’t there! Best wishes to Charlie; he is a handsome fellow.

      I know! Poor Charlie
Pets and orphaned apes and monkeys really have the chances of a normal life so skewed.
The odds of them returning back to the wild seem so stacked against them , and that hope apparently diminishing by the day
Even if they are super animals dedicated to their habitats and recovery, I read an area the size of the Island of Manhattan (nyc) is cleared out - destroyed, chopped down/and/or set ablaze every day in their rainforest homes, whether sumatra Borneo ok Indonesia Africa or east asia...
I feel like once the bees are gone the orangutans will be next and then... Well, us

A GREAT and moving story.....I am very pleased to see that there are still many good hearted people living among us, who are willing to go the extra mile to rescue animals that should be living free in the wild. It is easy to become cynical in the world we live in but thank God not all is all lost. Keeping animals caged should become illegal all over the world. If kept in captivity the animals should be allowed to roam free in an area which replicates as close as possible to their natural habitat. Nevertheless, God bless everyone who interceded on behalf of Chimpanzee. AMEN

Chimps are social beings which live in complex social groups. They need social interaction with other chimps to live a happy life. There are some amazing sanctuaries out there Save the Chimps or Project Chimps in USA are two of the very best...amazing people who take great care to provide stimulating environments with space to roam. It will never be the wild but under the circumstances it gives the animals a chance to enjoy life as a chimp. I dont know where in Brazil that chimpanzee was taken but it looks confined and lonely. I hope I'm wrong.

Well , I am Brazilian . We have no Chimpanzees in our forests . We have a recent history of chimpanzees escaping from a so called Sanctuary and terrifying a family that lived near it , fortunately nothing bad happened . Why bring a Chimp to a country where we will NEVER experience wild life , not even the “fake wild “ they provide in African sanctuaries . As everyone is pointing , he left a small cage in Lebanon and moved to a slightly larger cage in Brazil, where he is still living in complete loneliness . That’s misery to a so highly social creature . Sorry to say that , but he would stay better if euthanized.

With some traditions people have held on to for years need to be stopped and realize what is best for the animals. We can't return the ones in captivity, but we need stop taking from wild. It's a standard procedure for animals to go into a quarantine cage when moving between countries but it's taken very seriously with chimps. They share a lot of human DNA and can catch and pass on various deadly diseases to both humans and other chimps. Once Charlie has been given the pass in his quarantine cage he can then be moved onto an open sanctuary to interact and live with other chimps. That all depends on what his rehabiltation is like, you can't just put a chimp that hasn't had proper education on chimp etiquette into an area where other chimps live. These things take time, sometimes years depending on what each individiual chimp has been through and their personality.
I'm sure Charlie is doing much better now.

    • @dirtyred246

@@kidkytes6233 I understand they have to be quarantined for a while. But from what I have looked up and researched, he was in that cage for close to a year. Now I have studied apes and monkeys behavior for years. No I'm not an expert, but I do have experience. And there should never be a situation where you keep a chimp in a cage for close to a year.

Cause you made it okay to get him out 7 years and take him confiscate him and from a small cage a little bigger and not on display but so far just half the story is out. It's 2020 May now so it's more then a year being uploaded so can you make another and say and show where he is now and if he's doing okay ? Sorry but this was a half ass video ! Quarantine usually lasts 3-5 months in chimps after moving from across the world. He can never go back to living free in the wild. It isn’t possible. The best thing for captive chimps is to move to a sanctuary where they can be introduced into a family structure, get good, healthy food, have daily access to the outdoors, loads of enrichment, and have the freedom to choose how to spend time in that environment.

    • @Gabor.P.

@@nimblebimble Actually to correct you there is such thing in Africa like in Indonesia as rehab places where they teach them how to be wild and prepare them to live in the wild. I'm watching a program on TV that does exactly just like that. Nyaru Menteng in Indonesia for Orangutans. Same as is Liberia for the Chimpanzees and other places too and for Gorillas too. But yeah in the US those lab Chimps after 30-35 years being a guinea pig they built a sanctuary to live out their remainder of lives. To them, it's too late to rehab them. But as orphaned or young adults there is still hope.

Most people can only imagine what
Confinement is and when they do think of what it might be like they fall short of just how bad it is because the only confinement they have known was being grounded as a child to there room with no dinner.
I got into trouble as a teen over driving stuff and it put me in prison 5-6 times and in more then one case there was no room for me in General population because the prison was over full and every 2 man cell in the priding had 3 men in it and people sleeping on the floor on role up mattresses.
The only place with room were the isolation units and your locked down 15-16 hours a day because it’s the segregated unit and regardless of why you’re there the same rules apply to you which includes 15-16 hour lockdown which is punishment for getting in trouble while in prison which is like a hole your put into and forgot about and neglected all day.
I was trapped and isolated inside isolation it’s so boring and you can’t sleep because all you can do is sleep then night comes and your wide awake and restless and always hungry as fk.
Living beings are not made for prisons and being aware your locked up by another’s will is a scary thing, you know NOTHNG until your freedom has been taken and despair is just around the corner for every single living thing.
Perhaps if everyone were shown from an early age what loss of freedom is they wouldn’t ever question why it’s so wrong to do such things to animals.
Of course the worst of us need to be incarcerated but this is different issue and animals are not just human amusement.Apes monkeys animals have no voice and it falls to good people to be there voice of which there are not enough of so the problem persists.
Hunger was a big issue for me in prison and I have a voice to convey my feeling whether others need them or not but animals can’t tell you they’re starving or thirsty and get fed in most places of their confinement once maybe twice a day if they’re lucky or go days if not weeks with no food.
I’m seeing a very disturbing trend on UA-cam with false video clips of hero’s helping animals and it’s all a false movie set and the ones making the clips are the ones putting it all togoter and it’s getting worse and worse.
Now there are people making videos of harming monkeys especially the baby macaque you can find on UA-cam and there mini small torture is videos and much much worse if you get into the dark stuff.
If you look at the way people comment on these videos there all calling off money torture and don’t like moneys and begging and paying the people making the video to torture them.
It’s all over the internet and to be honest moneys don’t stand a fing chance.
The internets demand for this garbage content is destroying the number of each specie and they’re dwindling daily just look at the numbers.
The internet is calling for money torture videos and it’s just what they get we are the problem
