Avalon Beach - lived in Melbs all my life and never knew there was a beach in Avalon. Thanks for the reveal 😊 Brave man filming the kayak transfer from rear to front - but hey, you didn’t capsize while doing it so well done! Wednesdays and Saturdays are days many of us look forward to. Thanks Jason for all the work you do to keep us not only entertained but to keep the dream of a Life Less Ordinary (like yours) alive 😊
Hi Jason, we are really enjoying your great vids......the drone footage is getting better all the time......watch out for Victoria’s rule on life jackets because they are mandatory....again thanks for the interesting things you are sharing.....
Barwon River looks beautiful! That was some interesting Kayak manoeuvring lol. Bet that banana tasted minty fresh! 🤣🤣 Try some chopsticks next time lol 😂🤣
Good one Jason. I must say that your confidence on the mountain bike is really up there. Some of those heavily rock laden bends with you cranking it over was awesome. Coming off at speed in one of those bends would be 8 acres of grief for your body (and soul). Major ouch factor there. Well, I've had a coffee whilst watching your video so..... coffee number two and a second watch. Great stuff mate. Take care and have fun. Cheers, Sean.
Thanks Sean 😊 I had a few hairy moments on the rock gardens, but luckily came through. I'm a little out of practice, that's for sure! I don't really like rock gardens 😂
Huh! I seem to have missed the Dental Floss banana thingy? Is there a time stamp please? PS Your mountain bike skills are phenomenal. Why do they call it MTB Mount Tain Biking LOL
😂 the banana job was so special, I gave it it's own chapter. 13:37 Yeah...MTB - that is one of the mysteries of life that many have pondered over the internet 😂
Hi Jason, Another super video mate. I really enjoy the voice to video chat and the MTB riding. Thanks for taking us along for the journey. I have just returned from a trip in my van. I drove from my home in Tassie to the bottom of the Eyre Peninsula in SA and all around SA for 4 weeks. I did notice on the drive that Victoria is pretty hard on vans whilst SA is downright friendly to vans and vanlifers. Funny how a line on a map can change attitudes.
Thanks Peter. That would have been an awesome trip! I'll get over that way eventually. Agree...very funny how some states welcome travellers and other just don't want "our kind" around 🙄
As I sit here watching your videos “ALWAYS”, can I say, I was absolutely puffed after your ride today. I always feel good though to begin my day. Great video, thankyou.
Morning! You really do give me my weekly adreniline rush while riding your bike. My husband watched some of you today and even he was "that guy's going to crash!" We were kind of relieved when the track was closed LOL ... and we laughed when you said you were slow!!
I'm curious about your dji neo; I have not long ago purchased one, and I noticed that it's your neo you fly out over water I believe. May I ask , do you have any issues with the flying over water as I do kayak camping and want some shots from over water back at camp sites and friends kayaking on water. Thanks
From what I've seen online, don't let it go over water in the autonomous modes. I only go over water when using the RCN3 remote. I've had no issues at all, but keeping more than 3m above the water is also good insurance, so it doesn't attempt to use its sensors to detect the surface.
Thanks Jason. I have taken your lead with bike riding which has been great for me (mind you, I bought an e-bike to help with the hills and wind) and now you've opened my eyes to kayaking too. Wonder if one can get an e-kayak?
@ I've got to come up with some kind of swinging frame to load it on the back of the car so I don't have to lift the whole thing. Mind you the spare on the rear door is close to 50kg.
It's a problem that you release a new video so early in the morning as I play the drinking game every time you cut up a banana. I'm usually drunk by 7:25am every Saturday and Wednesday morning. You kind of answered one of my questions in this video. I was wondering how long you can keep doing this and if you have somewhere to go if/when you lose your travelling mojo. And yes, today I discovered you have a property in Geelong. So do I (Clifton Springs) but I can't imagine ever wanting to go back there to live. It's nice but... I only watch UA-cam, not contribute, and am wondering if doing the video sometimes feels like a drag and takes away your enjoyment of a location. My last question is, as I'm looking at doing something on a much smaller scale and not full time, how many times have you been at a track and just had to turn away because your van couldn't cut it? You don't seem to hesitate (unless you've just washed your van) to leave the asphalt but just curious to know if you think you've missed anything great because your van wasn't suited to the road. You did say below you might do an episode about stealth parking, maybe a Q&A episode could be fun.
😂😂 love it! Fewer banana cutting sessions required 😁 I don't see me ever living in Geelong again either. Planning to sell the house in a few years and roll the cash into my superannuation...try to reduce my tax! Sometimes it's a bit of an effort to do videos, but mainly when I'm doing things that I don't think are all that exciting. When I'm in new places, it's actually quite fun putting them together. I turn away from tracks more frequently due to fear of scratching my paintwork 😂. I'll only go down tracks if I'm confident I can make it out again and if it's too rough, I can take the bike instead, or just walk. Given that I've spent the last year mostly between Sydney and Port Stephens and always found new things to do and see, I don't think you would run out of places to go without off road capabilities. Sure, there will be some extras places you could visit and stay, but I don't feel like I'm lacking in my travels.
Hi Greg. See below for a link to the build series of videos. Yes, I built it myself. ua-cam.com/play/PL9UDfj_D4qMzoWmpRmzmbg87RMxL8N_ZE.html&si=Ga8zgJU0GmGLCQJx
I deleted it, I commented on how the Ford Focus was a nice car before I realized it was actually a Puma. Thats even smaller than a Focus right so good job kitting it out as a camper👍.
@cycledelic44 fair enough 👍 always worries me ... several people have had issues sending comments. Yeah, the Puma's pretty small. We'll see how well the 2 of them sleep in a few weeks 😁
We understand. Just wanted to remind you about the offer to coming sailing on Myall Lake when your back. I have two Hobbie Adventure Islands. Much more fun than your blow up canoe.
👍 that would allow me to cover a lot more ground, for sure! I think the first step is an electric pump to inflate it....that part takes half my energy 😂
I did that to my kayak. It was expensive (waterproof lithium 50ah battery au$600 + motor + brackets). It takes time setting it up and for all that trouble and expense it wasn’t much chop on windy days on my local river.
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces interesting to hear, I thought they weren't doing any product development in Australia anymore since the Falcon and Territory stopped production
@ridinginryde so I was a powertrain supervisor when that department was shut down. I bumped into some of the homologation team today, and they're all still doing their thing with Ranger. So yes, other than the emissions lab being closed down after I left, it's all still there.
Avalon Beach - lived in Melbs all my life and never knew there was a beach in Avalon. Thanks for the reveal 😊

Thank you very much 😊
Very rewarding to have so many people enjoy seeing what I get up to 😁👍
I can see the attraction, but my kidneys are hurting just watching you! Another very enjoyable video, Jason. Keep on enjoying! 👍 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
😂thanks Robyn!👍
Gee your mountain biking sequence is wild
😁 thanks 👍

Thanks Karen😊
You're exactly right! It wasn't until I was packing the kayak away that I realised I forgot my life jacket. Need to get in the habit!👍
Jason Jason Jason... you are teasing us. Flossing your banana REALLY!
You are a legend. Ever thought of getting Cavendish to sponsor you. 😅
😂😂 I'm searching around the van to see what I can hack it up with next 😜
Another great video. I am heading to Canberra at the moment. Then onto Queensland. The mountain bike trails look amazing
Sounds like you've got a decent trip ahead of you. I look forward to hearing how you're getting on 😊👍
The way you cut that Banana with Dental Floss, the Mechanical Engineer coming out there! lol
😂😂 can't say it was a life changing approach.
Morning Jason.......More banana slicing innovation😂, I like it.
Cheers
Helen
😂😂 you can tell I'm getting bored 😜
I have never seen dental floss used to cut up a banana. Hahah love it.
@Jack.McAllister.Winters 😂not very effective though!
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces
The Banana cutting gave me a laugh.
Really perfecting the art of Banana slicing 😂
Barwon River looks beautiful! That was some interesting Kayak manoeuvring lol. Bet that banana tasted minty fresh! 🤣🤣 Try some chopsticks next time lol 😂🤣
It is quite a nice section of river around there.
Hmmmm... chopsticks. That will be interesting 😂

Must have almost driven past your door to get pizza the other night. Cafizza on Separation St 👍😁

Good one. It's fascinating to learn about key issues for van lifers. In most cases high on the list is where to park and sleep for the night.
Thanks mate!
I need to do a dedicated video on finding places to sleep. Problem is I just have so much else going on 😂
As I sit here watching your videos “ALWAYS”, can I say, I was absolutely puffed after your ride today. I always feel good though to begin my day. Great video, thankyou.
😂 thanks Joanne.
Some pretty hectic trails out there!
Yay…!
You went the Dental Floss 😊😂
Ok… next time - a poached egg slicer. 😉
😂 just for you!
Ok, next challenge accepted 😜
Thanks Jason! I think some sort of Medal for paddling the Pump Up Canoe 6k's! lol
😂yeah, not easy. Though I felt quite good on the way back. Maybe I need to do it more often.

Hi Daisy 😁
Fortunately I don't crash often 😂
Added bonus that I managed to stay dry in the kayak...
You’re brave paddling in the Barwon. They just found high levels of Enterococci a bacteria found in faeces. 🤙
😳oh nice!
I think I edited out the part where I was commenting on the scum floating in the surface....
50 ways to cut your banana
Cut it with a knife Mike
Get out the scissors Mrs
Use the floss Ross
It's breakfast time!

Nice work! Even if it is an e-bike. Always good to get out and keep moving.
And let me know if you find an e-kayak 😂
@ I keep striving for zero assistance, but if I need it, its there - cost is the 35kg bike weight.
That would give me a fair workout lifting it in to the back of the van!😂

@MiniLuv-1984 😂sounds like you need a roof mounted crane for the bike and the spare.
Hi Jason what model transit do you have I am guessing a 350 L high roof?
That's right. RWD 10 speed auto.

A fairdinkum question for an Aussie, how many Wheat Bix?
😂 only 2 due to a banana and yoghurt. 3 if I take them straight 😁👍
@cycledelic44 not sure what happened to your latest comments...I got the notifications but can't see the message. UA-cam doing its thing again...🙄

You should get some sign writing with a bogus business name and phone number on the side of the van 😜😜
😂 actually saw someone in Newcastle, very obviously sleeping in the van with "courier" written in the side..
Startrack has blue vans 😂
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Also, what's the go with the different cutting techniques with your banana's recently 🤣

@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces I ended up buying a 4.5m tinny with a 50hp motor 😂 You couldn’t fit that in your van garage though.
@jazzycool2950 that would move along quite nicely 👍😁
Do you have a Facebook account?
No, I don't have any other social media yet for the channel. It's hard enough just keeping up with UA-cam.
Is the You Yangs Proving Ground still operational, or has it been mothballed?
As far as I know, they're still doing durability testing and chassis development. Not powertrain work any more though.
I thought you might know since you worked at Ford 😊
