The constant modulation algorithm is widely used in communications to improve the signal quality of QPSK (quaternary phase shift keying). The algorithm is also key to enabling polarization multiplexing in optical communications. This sequence of videos describes the algorithm including
• Motivation
• A raised cosine pulse shaping example
• Timing recovery using CMA
• Performance and complexity trade-offs
• Objective function for adaptation
• Matlab implementation of CMA
The lectures on CMA are part of a laboratory course on Coherent Optical Communications.
