Fun fact that you mentioned two Finnish bands and for Lowebites this is mixed and mastered by Finnish masterminds Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila, who have worked on all of the band's studio albums

Missed this when you first posted it, but welcome to the Wolfpack. Great call on seeing so quickly that both guitarists are co-leads.

FYI - Both guitarists and the bass player were doing the tapping simultaneously all three times. The camera just focused on one at a time, but they were all doing it together.

Formed in 2016. Lead singer is Asami, Miyako and Midori on guitar, original bassist Miho (seen here), and Drummer Haruna. Miho left in 2021. New bassist ,Fami, joined in Oct 2022. Yep, twin lead guitars.
The band is named after the Grammy winning Halestorm song Love Bites (So Do I). Asami has performed that song live with Lzzy and Halestorm.
Did you see the piano on stage? It's not just for show. You can see it used in Swan Song(with Chopin intro).
The new album, Judgement Day, just came out. the first with Fami. 2 singles so far, the title track, and Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)

In the video, it is hard to tell because each of them is zoomed in on the other, but they are tapping in three places at the same time during the performance of HOLY WAR.

Miho Miho Miho! Lovebites are about 3 years younger than band-Maid but if You compare the two at the 7 year mark Band-Maid had done way more international traveling/tours. Which doesn't mean Lovebites are NOT popular just not as well known globally and Lovebites are mainly a Powermetal (even tho that is not all they play) band and as such has less of an appeal in general. So singing in English may have done them some good but it is really hard to discern how much.

A great reaction, and welcome to Lovebites! There are many of us in the Wolfpack (the Lovebites fans who will be commenting A LOT on this video) who believe they are the best band in the planet. This is just the tip of the iceberg my friend. The band just released a monster album, Judgement Day, last week and it has topped the metal charts in several countries. There will be many songs from their great catalog that will be recommended to you. If you want other than power metal, try Break The Wall, Set The World on Fire, Hammer of Wrath and Dissonance for starters. For quintessential power metal that's MUCH better than Holy War imho, try Judgement Day and Soldier Stands Solitarilty from their new album. For a ballad, try Epilogue. I guarantee you will not be disappointed! As for singing in English, I think from the start they wanted to be more internationally known, especially since traditional heavy metal is more well-known outside of Japan and they would be more appreciated by true heavy metal fans, so they made this strategic move. Totally brilliant.

Miho the bassist on this video is the founder of the band and has written many of the songs unfortunately life happened and for personal reasons she left the band in August of 2021 which left Lovebites to go on a hiatus. In the summer of 2022 they held open auditions for a bassist and settled on Fami an internet sensation who had her own channel and already had over 700,000 fans. she won the audition then even before finishing the lovebites album she finished a solo album ahead of the lovebites release of Judgement Day, the 1st two Music Videos have had a heavy dose of Fami to start both videos. Here's links to both.

Ah, you got to Lovebites finally ! Great reaction, love hearing your thoughts!
Band-Maid and Lovebites were my entry into the japanese music rabbit hole about 3-4 years ago. Haven't looked back since then.
Might as well do Lovebites 'Swan song' next to get a feel for their diversity. But you can't go wrong with any Lovebites track!
And just to tease you again, here are a few more japanese bands you have to check out (at some point):
Hanabie (do 'we love sweets' first, then 'Pardon me I have to go now')
Unlucky Morpheus ('Black Pentagram' the live version if possible)
Sokoninaru (do 'Tenohira De Odoru' first, prepare to be amazed)
    Saiseiga ('Ride on')
Could list 30 more, but those are be the ones I'd like to see you do in the near future 😁❤

    Nice one.
I would say Band Maid are more famous worldwide just now. They have just toured the US so that brings a lot of attention.
Personally I prefer Lovebites, and I cant wait to see them in the UK. They did support Dragonforce in the UK in 2019 and I cant wait till they come back.

Awesome!! Lovebites draws inspiration from the 80's and 90's power and thrash metal scene, one of the key reasons why they sing in English.
They are mainly known as a powerthrash metal band but they also take on different styles as you will soon discover!!
After a long hiatus due to founder and bassist Miho leaving the band mid-pandemic they just released their new album with the new bassist Fami! Auditions were held and they made a mini documentary about it, really cool!! There's a video of it on their channel.
The new album Judgement Day just came out couple weeks ago, so i will suggest that!
    Judgement Day - ua-cam.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/v-deo.html
    Stand and Deliver - ua-cam.com/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/v-deo.html
Im also a Band Maid fan but the 2 bands are totally different from each other musically.
BM mostly on the pop/rock hardrock realm with some hints of metal at times, while LB are a heavy metal band at their core!
Fun fact, the drummers from both bands Haruna and Akane are good friends!!

    • @VelcroReacts
      @VelcroReacts  Рік тому +1

Thank you much! That's a fun fact for sure, haha, but yeah they are obviously completely different bands. I need to listen more from LB to see their trash side.

Since you started out saying you liked 'some' Power Metal, I was pretty sure you would get Lovebitten. All musicians know that no matter how good you are, there is a 10yo Japanese girl who can play rings around you. Lovebites is 4 of those prodigies 20 yrs older - all in the SAME band. They found Asami (vocals & lyricist) through an audition where she sang Halestorm's Love Bites and picked her, even though she was a Soul and R&B singer and had never sung Metal before she joined Lovebites. Haruna is a 4'9" dynamo on drums. Guitarists Midori (blond) and Miyako (brunette) are world class shredders (Miyako is also a concert trained classical pianist, and composes most of the music) Miho was the bassist here. She quit in 2021 and Lovebites added a new bassist last October - Fami - a 20yo bass phenom. They were the first all-female Japanese band invited to Wacken and Bloodstock in 2018, toured with Dragon Force in 2019, and won the UK Metal Hammer of the Gods award as best new Metal band of 2018. To see Miyako shred some Chopin on piano and then shred guitar on the same song check out Swan Song [+Chopin Intro] ua-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/v-deo.html 🤘🐺🤘

Not just 'power-metal' "Break The Wall": ua-cam.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/v-deo.html
    Thrash, with a transition ...
I consider their composition & arrangement talents to be
on par with their musicianship. Unsurpassed.
But, of course, you can't "arrange" a segment of
    hyper-tremolo-picked palm-muted arpeggiated-chords
in perfect sync with 3 other musicians,
song after song for 2 hour, 18-song shows ...
unless you have musicians that can perform that.
All songs are in English (1st EP 1 Japanese, translated for 1st album)
Repeat listens reveal imaginative uses of techniques.
Haruna's cymbal work combined with precise dbl-kick (!)
While her snare-hit locks it tight. The 'conductor' (?)
"Break The Wall" might dispel the "PowerMetal" limits altogether...
but so many genre blended-seamlessly? hard to categorize.
All 60 songs are worthy of your time. No kidding. 60
"Empty Daydream" Classical piano & R&B 'vamp' intro to ?

Welcome to the wolfpack you have been lovebitten and yes they sing all in English except 1 song that Haruna the drummer wrote before helping Miho form lovebites when she was still in Destrose. Bravehearted on the first EP is in Japanese Asami converted it to English for the 1st whole album this album they just released was their 4rth full album they have 4 EP's one is technically classified as a single (Golden Destination) but still there are 4 songs on it which to me signifies a four to five song EP. They don't have any bad songs so the rabbit hole is a fun one to explore.

You're falling down through the Japanese rock/metal rabbit hole, and i think you're enjoying it a lot so far right? lol
So now you've reacted to Lovebites (pretty cool reaction btw), Nemophila, and of course Band-Maid. I'll suggest Gacharic Spin for a change of pace, they're a bit more "poppy" than the metal stuff but equally awesome; or you could try Hanabie, another kinda-metal-band that's making a bit of buzz these days and gaining new fans
