Jorke Grotenhuis, postdoctoral scholar, University of California, Berkeley
This academic year, we introduce a new OI Explorers Lecture series. For our first lecture, we welcome Jorke Grotenhuis, postdoctoral scholar at Berkeley, as he presents Hieroglyphic Sign Lists: The Thot Sign List, Toward a Unicode Expansion.
Hieroglyphic sign lists have been a staple of modern Egyptology since the decipherment of the hieroglyphic script and are known to most Egyptologists as very beneficial tools. In this lecture, Grotenhuis presents a short history of sign lists, up to and including the development of the Thot Sign List.
OI lectures are free and available on UA-cam thanks to the generous support of our members. To become a member, please visit: bit.ly/2AWGgF7
